Please keep going. I enjoyed all the Bond movies with Daniel Craig. "Skyfall" is my favorite. Sean Connery was awesome in all of his Bond movies. And Timothy Dalton was way under-rated, actually did most of his own stunts!!!

Yeah, Timothy Dalton became my favourite Bond, and I love both his films (TLD is among the top of classic Bond films ever, and LTK is such a brutal action, a breathe of fresh air)
@@PUARockstar CR is a masterpiece as well. That one is a *very* close second for me. Eva Green is stunning and Mads is a genius in everything he does. It was the perfect movie to introduce a new Bond.
The Daniel Craig Bond films should be watched in order as unlike the rest of the series which only has at best a loose continuity, the Craig films are an ongoing story.

You've both hit the nail on the head with the failings of QoS. It's the weakest of the five Craig films but I promise you will not be disappointed with the next one, Skyfall. For many, it's the pinnacle and they pulled out all the stops to celebrate the 50th anniversary.

@@FirstLast-yc9lq Yeah, I am not alone on my opinion of Skyfall. I actually think it is a really good movie. It's just not a really good James Bond movie. It's a great M movie but that is the problem. You can't have a great James Bond movie if James Bond is a supporting character and not the lead role and that is exactly what happens in Skyfall.
You guys are bang on - it is definitely weaker compared to Casino Royale - but, for me personally, I still love this one, simply for the fact that it uses art and metaphor so well. All the action sequences are set against all the ‘elements’ - earth, air, fire, water - and good job pointing out all the “glass shattering”, always thought that was a subtle hint towards a sandy desert, reflecting Bond’s shattered, empty soul. You guys are gonna love Skyfall 100% - and although it’s not a fan fav, I love Spectre, which is more a cat-and-mouse rather than an ‘Action’ film.. can’t wait to watch along with you guys ✌🏻
I actually love SPECTRE, it's an unpopular opinion, but I agree that CR the best and QoS is the worst of Daniel all the time, but SF, SP and NTTD are all kinda on the same level for me, and I get them ranked based on the mood. SP is the most classic Bond of Craig.
This is one of the "less good" Bond-movies, probably because of a writers strike that was going on at the time of production. Now watch the rest; Most of them are sooooooooooooo good.
Yeah, the writer's strike totally stymied QoS. Daniel Craig said he was having to rewrite scenes himself.

I know this is technically one of the “weaker” Bond films, especially in the Craig era, but the opening of the is film is just amazing, the fade in on cuts of the car chase, the zoom in across the lake, then suddenly bam you’re right in the middle of the chase was just awesome!
If that's the Vincent Price House of Wax then its a remake of Mystery of the House of Wax from 1933 starring Lionel Atwill and Fay Wray.
This is that little tiny chapter at the end of a great big novel. This movie is a big budget epilogue that didn't need to be made but I am absolutely grateful that it exists. Let's be fair, Casino Royale is not only a hard movie to follow, that was a given, it's not only one of the best Bond movies ever, it is simply great cinema; the bar was so high. Especially with what has come after, CR not only stands the test of time but just seems to get better. I'll say it again, QoS is that tiny end-bit that didn't need to be made but I love it.
I'd actually love if you both tried Dr. No, just as a classic/refresher palette cleanser, before you finish off the rest of the Craig outing. Also, Layer Cake is pretty phenomenal for you to try.

This suffered from a weak script that needed to be rushed due to a pending writers strike. A couple more rounds of script doctoring could have tightened some areas up, made Greene a more captivating villain, and a few other things. I also believe Marc Forster was a bad choice for a Bond film. His more Bourne-like editing and shakey cam made action hard to follow. 8ts not a bad Bond film, just a victim of circumstance. Mid-tier Bond film.

You guys should totally do Skyfall … seriously it is the ONE ‘Craig’ Bond film you do NOT want to miss.
"It's so amusing, because we are on the other side, thinking, 'Oh, the MI6, the CIA, they're looking over our shoulders. They're listening to our conversations.' And the truth is, you don't even know we exist."
That line was amazingly well written and acted, despite all of this film's flaws. And it's scary, because something like a shadow organization can happen, all it takes is a lot of money and power to keep itself hidden, and a seemingly legit front to cover themselves. But the worst part, they would be able to have a hand in enough levels of law enforcement and intelligence agencies, not to mention the news, that we would easily be manipulated and controlled to the point that we not only would disbelieve anyone who calls it out, but we would also be powerless to do anything over time.

I have always enjoyed Quantum of Solace. It gets a lot of hate but man I believe it's the meanest and angriest Bond portrayal in the franchise. This movie is a pure revenge flick happening to star James Bond. He kills everyone in this movie ha. While it's light on actual plot due to the writer's strike at the time it makes up for it with non-stop entertaining action in my opinion.

Yes. That's why Bond fans think it's weaker than most of the other (Craig) Bond films. Because it's not. As someone else in the comments wrote, it's an extra chapter between Casino Royale and Skyfall that needed to be done because Bond had some personal business to take care of.

You guys are going to like the next movie in the franchise. In “Skyfall” they fix a lot of the editing and they slow down the narrative to give the story and the villain the chance to shine.
The opening scene (4:12 - 4:56) was filmed a few miles from my hometown, on lake Garda in northern Italy.
I still remember those days back in spring 2007 when they filmed ... oh, and the police guy who's talking to the radio (4:51) is a friend of mine ! nowadays the door of that Aston Martin is still on the wall of its pub :-)
You need to check out some of the older James Bond movies. Anyone with Sean Connery, Roger Moore, and Pierce Bronson. You actually have about 6 actors who played James Bond. But you really can't go wrong with any of them.

Awesome guys! Thanks for watching this 😃 Casino Royal was by far one of the best Bond movies ever, so it’s gonna be hard to beat it. But the opening of this movie, I think is one of the best Bond openings ever.
About that "weird eyeball": That wasn't built for that Bond movie. It's just the stage for the Bregenzer Festspiele, an annual opera performance on Lake Constance. And the stage is weird every year. Giant eyeball might be one of the least crazy ones I've seen.

23:40 -- Bond breaks the 4th wall and addresses us for one of the very few times in the series. The cop tells him to open his trunk, and Bond glances at us and mumbles, "Now why would you want me to do that?" One of my favorite scenes in this movie is when M finally realizes what a great agent Bond is. "He's my agent and I trust him," she says, realizing that out of all the corrupt, self-serving people she deals with (this is the most politically pessimistic of all the Bond films), Bond is the only one who simply wants to do the right thing. And I love how this movie ends with a true-blue old-fashioned spy/espionage scene, the kind we've rarely seen since "From Russia With Love." I didn't like this movie very much when I first saw it, mostly because of the awful editing in some scenes, but after repeated viewings it has grown to become one of my favorites.

Remember that this movie was affected by the writers strike. They began filming with a draft of a script. That being said, if you watch Casino Royale and this back to back, it's like one big movie. Was gonna say something about the next installment, but I saw others already have.
To see Daniel Craig in a different role, I really suggest you see Layer Cake 🎂

House of Wax (the Vincent Price one y'all have) *was* remade, but I don't mean the Paris Hilton silly thing; I mean Darkman, starring Liam Neeson and directed by Sam Raimi. It's money.
You guys should check out Marked for Death with Steven Seagal.
You two should check out Desperado an once upon a time in Mexico with Antonio Banderas it was awesome. It was a trilogy the first movie was called El mariachi but lead was played by another actor an it was in Spanish.

All of Craig's Bond movies are great, but my favorites are the Pierce Brosnan bond movies.
Saw this in the theater when it came out. You nailed it with the action editing. I thought I was going to throw up in the theater I was so motion sick.

Quantum of Solace doesn’t compare to Skyfall or Casino Royale, but it’s extremely underrated IMO. And it’s 100x better than the trainwreck that is Spectre
I feel Quantum is too harshly criticized. Yes, it doesn't compare to Royale or Skyfall, but man it's a good time. And it's a quick and swift Bond film.
I agree with some of that Quantum is underrated but Spectre has two amazing acts with a subpar 3rd act that I felt was a flat throwback to late Connery-early Moore Era Bond. Spectre, imho, is slightly better but Quantum was a product of rushing out the script due to a pending writers strike in 2007.
@@clapattack7235 I disagree completely. Not only was Spectre terrible from a narrative perspective in its own right, it also cheapens the pre-established lore of the previous films. It was all style and no substance. It wasn’t bad enough as a film on its own, but had to go and infect the previous films with its badness.
Quantum’s issues are superficial (pacing, poor editing etc) but Spectre’s issues are down at its core as a film (narrative, character motivations, themes etc). One set out with genuinely worthwhile intentions but was a failure due to poor execution, while the other one was a failure in its entire conception.
@@SarastistheSerpent it led to where it was inevitably going to go. We had to find Blofeld...I only it didn't go the Star Trek into Darkness route. From a narrative it flowed like older Bond films specifically OHMSS, From Russia with Love, Live and Let Die, and Diamonds are Forever. It had a strong 1st and 2nd act with all the events...which are tied together (at least for Casino and Quantum) by Mr. White. Silvas addition felt like an add on. It's after we see meet Blofeld and we go to his desert base where the script falters under its own weight. Both Spectre and Quantum are style over substance. Spectres action can be followed and it has a memorable henchman without a good villain.. Quantum had neither. Spectre is a small step above Quantum (but I still like Quantum for some fun setpieces). Both are weaker than Casino and Skyfall. Haven't seen No Time to Die yet though. I've heard amazing things though. Who's your favorite Bond overall? I like asking fellow Bond fans.

You two need to watch what I consider to be the funnest most entertaining James Bond movie ever, "Octopussy" (1983). Most people rank it as one of the worst but to me with all it's so-called flaws it is still the most entertaining of the Bond films. It's not the best and I'm not claiming it is, I'm just saying it's the most entertaining. You can put this movie on and everybody will enjoy it. It's a real blast!

QOS is actually one of the BEST films in the series ... people just couldn't understand that it was Casino Royale Part 2 ... and instead kept trying to compare it to Casino Royale ... big mistake! The story of QOS follows directly ON from Casino Royale ... they are a twin-set film package comprising the entire story arc ... from Casino to the further discovery of who killed Vesper. QOS is amazing ... unfortunately some of the audience don't seem to understand where QOS sits in the Bond story arc. It's one of my favourite of the series after Royale ...

This is a decent movie, but it’s easily the weakest of the Craig Bond movies (and it’s wedged between the two best of his tenure in the role) and probably in the bottom 5-6 in the series (unless somebody really dislikes a given actor and hates all their movies).
You two also had problems with the opening.
My two criticisms of the opening I’ve always had were: 1) the song (there have been multiple leaked alternate/rejected songs, check out “Forever” by Eva Almer & “No Good About Goodbye” by Shirley Bassey, who would’ve returned for her 4th Bond song had it been chosen) as well as 2) I think the intro should’ve extended all the way through the rooftop chase and ended with Bond shooting into the camera when he’s hanging from the scaffolding and then, like Casino Royale, that would’ve been the transition to the credits
This was in fact a new director (Marc Forster, while Martin Campbell directed CR) and it definitely shows. I think he tried too hard to mimic the Bourne movies in style.
It also was made right in the middle of the 2007-08 writers strike so Forster & Craig actually ended up writing a lot of the script themselves (the “we are teachers on sabbatical…and we’ve just won the lottery!” joke comes from Craig himself lol)
I also think they really underused Bond’s allies here, like Mathis and Felix. They included them but then killed Mathis about half and hour after bringing him back and then Felix is just existing on the periphery of the plot (those two are his most prominent recurring non-British allies in the original books, with Felix being a recurring character all through the films, regularly being recast like Bond).

I think comparing it to the Bourne films is perfect, I remember the Bourne series having that issue with cutting a ton as well in the action scenes and also underusing of returning characters like Mathis and Felix was quite underwhelming; Mathis dying felt like it was so rushed and was more like why? Instead of it being sad.
The opening isn't bad, but I feel like it just didn't have the hype as the first one; it really made you feel like your were about to watch something incredible. The tempo and pacing of the song was so slow that it didn't build me up to the movie and I agree, the shooting into the camera again would have been such a nice touch.
Overall, not a bad movie but I can definitely see why it's been considered the weakest. Really excited for Skyfall though, don't know when but we will watch it! :)

Please review the Classic “Blank man “
The fact that I thought this was better than Casino Royal and most everyone else hated it told me I needed to step away from the franchise. Great action. Story is complex but not complicated. Plus it was a bold movie to talk about how "legitimate business interests" exploit both sides of environmental issues for profit, which happens quite a lot, but we're supposed to turn a blind eye to it.
I thought the editing during the action scenes were beyond awful, the cutting was overdone and made it so hard to watch; only thing I didn't like about the movie.

Guys that's the wrong movie House Of Wax has Chad Michael Murray was dine in 2001 or so. That ones a good movie .
Quantum was the only Bond film that I couldn't wait for the action sequences to be over. In my opinion, it looked like there was three times as much coverage as needed and the editor felt the need to include frames from every set up. This resulted in a cut-per-second editing style that simply exhausted the viewer's eyes. Bond jumps to a ledge and instead of one or two cuts to establish this, there were more. It's very much like Liam Neeson (sp) jumping over fences in Taken 2. The machine gun editing simply confuses and lulls the viewer into an apathy where they phase everything out instead of trying to follow the action.
i find this bond movie underrated. its flawed, they over did the fast cuts, but the cuts were laziness liek a normal action movie, they had an artistic purpose. the story has problems but its a clever idea for a story and just needed polishing, the character development is excellent

Please watch skyfall, it's a huge improvement on Quantum of Solace and is, in my opinion, even better than Casino Royale. No time to Die was also good so I recommend checking both that and Spectre out soon after watching Skyfall

With the exception of From Russia With love and Licence to Kill (IMO), there is a tradition in the Bond series of every new Bond actor hitting the ground running with their debut movie and their follow up film struggling to reach the same heights because the bar has been set so high by their first film. I prefer Quantum to Spectre but it was a sequel that didn't need to be made as there isn't an actual sequel to the original Casino Royale novel. The second James Bond novel is Live and Let Die, which is an entirely different story and is the first of the Bond novels to take Bond into fantasy territory with its Voodoo sub-plot while still keeping everything grounded in a real world environment.
I totally agree with your assessments and it does feel like a rushed production compared with the lovingly crafted Casino Royale but there were unfortunate reasons for that. However, even without the writer's strike, which blighted the film as a whole, I still don't think it would have come up to Casino Royale's high standard. Still a fun ride though. More disposable entertainment than something that remains with you but the next one, Skyfall is awesome.

Just like the Indiana Jones franchise, the odd-numbered Daniel Craig Bond movies are great, and the even ones are… well, let’s just say Much Weaker. Skyfall is great, Spectre is shockingly bad, and I really REALLY loved No Time To Die.

@@porflepopnecker4376 Huh, I’ve never heard of anyone liking it. My feeling is that it’s both boring and tries way too hard to capture the “it’s all connected” trend that most studios were going for post-Marvel (even though that’s not what the MCU does), has an Into Darkness-style reveal that neither surprises old fans nor has any meaning to new fans, and is just generally boring to sit through. That said, I suspect the film will be more enjoyable once I can watch it back-to-back with No Time to Die, in the same way Quantum is a more rewarding experience when marathoned with Casino Royale.
@@SupergeekMikeDowntime I've been a Bond fanatic since day one and I never had any problem with SPECTRE, particularly not boredom. I think it's the most fully-realized "Bond" film in the Craig era and scores exceedingly well on all levels from start to finish. I don't watch the Marvel movies.

Spectre is solid; it has some issues (mainly in the final 30 minutes) and is generally considered of a similar quality to Quantum of Solace, but it's a completely different type of film to this at least.

Agreed this isn't as good as others but still fun. Casino was so amazing and I too love the "you know my name" song.. perfection. This isn't bad but casino and skyfall are amazing!! Check it out!
