From there, my respect for Draco increased and I started to understand his character more. Yes, it was true that he was a bully up until the fifth book, but if his parents had brought him up to believe differently, Draco would have turned out very different. In the sixth book, you can clearly see the pressure of his task getting to him, almost killing two students accidently. At that point, he began to realise that his dream of becoming a powerful Death Eater was foolish and that most of Voldemorts followers followed him out of fear, not loyalty. In the seventh book, he didn't identify Harry at the Malfoy Manor.
