I remember seeing this way back as a kid and somehow seeing Kelbo decapitated, revealing a hand inside his head broke my immersion in the Muppets. Ever since that, I couldn't stop wondering about the Muppets losing their heads every time I watched Sesame Street.
This is a very funny send-up of Sesame Street. Candice Bergen was a guest star on the first season of The Muppet Show. She was more comfortable working with puppets than Murphy Brown.
Riotously hilarious. Ironically Murphy, master of the hard-hitting interview, falls completely apart herself when she's challenged by a pair of puppets.
Thanks for posting. I wanted to see this episode again so badly a few years back, but the series wasn't on streaming. It came back for 1 season during Trump. You left off the punchline where everyone in the office covers their ears and walks away from Murphy singing "Sometimes people are mean"! Another series I wanted to see was the puppets from "Land of Confusion" Genesis video whose show was Spitting Image. Spitting Image returned in 2020, but I read NBC doesn't want to air it, so I'll have to do that British streaming service for a month, Britbox. I thought it was just $0.99 but that was a Friday-Monday sale.
Yes, except Miles wouldn't be known to the audience of "Mulberry Lane" or their parents because he isn't on camera the way Murphy is. Although a Miles Silverbear does sound adorable.

Who else thought of Larry David beating up Elmo when seeing this?
More like the other way around!
This scene made me laugh to death when I was a kid!
This is so funny. I laughed so hard when she pushed Murphy Brown Bear down and tore Kelbo's head off 4:56.😂🤣
Such a funny scene. Murphy Brown is such an underrated classic, I LOVE Political humor.
This is funny especially knowing that Candice was on the Muppet Show years before this.
This is one of my absolute favorite episodes of the series.

Our family quotes this constantly. I wish I had it recorded somewhere.
Such a classic
She’s obviously never gotten over her sibling rivalry with Charlie McCarthy
Not to mention her affair with Mortimer Snerd.
5:00 bear push
You gotta laugh.....🤣😂🤣
Candice should be so familiar with puppets. She grew up with Charlie McCartney who had his own room.
She probably wanted to choke Charlie.
Where do you think the anger, aggression, and frustration in this scene came from? Her childhood. (I'm kind of kidding, but also kind of serious)
Kelbo has the same voice as a puzzling criminal from Batman Arkham games.
They should have made a Miles Silverbear.

Is that the mohel from Seinfeld?
Yes

You know, shes not wrong in that murrow could be hard hitting but Murphy is seen as a b***ch
