Like you, grip selection is one of the couple things I'll change out on a pistol. I've been considering LOK grips for my pistol for some time now. I talked to them over the phone a couple days ago and now you post a video about the grips. I think I need to order a set now!
They are not as pleasing to look at, However, On my 1911's I use the Herrett HB-1, they are walnut diamond check cut top to bottom, Just a standard looking grip. the grips do not slip in your hands, they are also natural wood without a Finnish applied to them and absorb sweat. they are easily cleaned with an old toothbrush and lacquer thinner. I shoot bullseye, so I know what you mean about slippage as a 2700 lasts all day with few breaks. those are nice looking grips and enhance the looks of an average pistol, Sometimes the way a pistol looks makes it more accurate. :) hehe. Good shooting to ya - Dave
MIXUP , always a pleasure big man , I bought a set of those grips off ebay , look identical , but these are no name brand , put them on m y polished series 80 mk iv , very nice addition , keep your powder dry , keep em' coming .
Nice Ruger... California does not allow many semi automatic Pistols for sale. Only one 380 Pistol offered. Great looking Ruger 1911 and also like the grips as well.
I have the same Ruger 1911 and I must agree with you it is one of my favorites. Now I have to buy a set of them grips. I also think that blue looks great with the stainless 1911. Oh, another great video my friend.
Love to see you work that SR1911CMD. I absolutely love the look, feel, and performance of that pistol. The blues look good on it. Be well, and stay safe out there.
@@mixup98 We're okay here. I used to shoot IPSC with a stock, out of the box 1911 and 230 grain RNL slugs that I cast from wheel weight metal mixed with Linotype back in the day. Never won, but placed in the top 5 a few times against multi thousand-dollar race guns. I finally busted out of the house a few days ago and went to the indoor range. Felt good to get out among 'em after being holed up here for so long. ;)
Really like to see that Colt, though that Ruger is nice looking as well. I've heard those LOK Grips are really nice and sure glad you found some you like. Something else every 1911 owner needs. Thanks Mr. mixup98. Be safe and healthy out there.
I agree with your assessment. I have an SR1911 in 10mm Auto. the first thing I changed was the grips, similar to yours, but different brand. the second thing I added was grip tape by Talon Grips to the front strap. The rear mainspring housing is already checkered, so now the my hand has a grip on the gun all around. It makes a huge difference for big loads. BTW, the Ruger is awesome in 1911, and is my favorite 10mm.
I myself have a colt 1911, and when I got it I could not hit anything with it, I threw a set of grips on it and it’s like night and day. I was going to sell that thing!!!! Now It’s like a laser!!!!
I agree 100% that having a better grip especially with higher caliber pistols matters. I just purchased a Dan Wesson Specialist and it came with VZ G-10 Operator Grips and I knew the minute I touched it these grips are special. So now I’m shopping for grips for all my 1911’s and my 357 Magnum’s. VZ doesn’t have much I like for the 357 Magnum Kimber K6s so I’m thinking I’ll try Loc. thanks for the tip as always and happy trails.
I have the same Ruger SR-1911 and I liked the factory grips well enough. Then I got a Rock Island 1911 with G-10 grips and they are significantly better. I plan to get some Lok grips for the Ruger very soon.
@@mixup98Thank you for putting out great content. I don't know if the new grips will make me a better shot, but I'm sure they can't make me any worse. Lol. I also finally got a fiber optic front sight on the Ruger, which should also help.
I liked the blue grips as well. I own several handguns including some revolvers........and no 1911’s if you can believe that! After watching this, I think I might just get me a new addition to the family now. Awesome video 🤘
I was just looking at these grips earlier today while searching for accessories for my Beretta 92x which will be coming soon. Yeah man, I'm drooling over that ruger! Really beautiful! I have many things on my mind that I would like to own. The 10/22, AR, and Berretta were among those. A 1911 is most definitely on that list as well. 👍
Hi, my wife and I are older Canadians that have decided to move on out of the city to enjoy the country life. So part of that is obviously being capable of handling things that come up. Love all the great info you give on your channel and I guess you just explain things in a way that makes sense to me. We've bought a couple of hundred acres in eastern Canada and want to be able to deal with the nuisance critters, snakes, rats and what not that get into the garden and bother the chickens. As well, we want to be able to manage problems from people coming on the farm to steal from us or at worst case scenario, harm us. Gun laws are quite different from the U.S.A. but that aside, the actual physics of guns remains the same. You sure have some good information for the uninitiated. The courses and testing to obtain a license for both unrestricted and restricted firearms here is to say the least thorough. Nothing we can handle so the real problem comes down to the right combination of firearms to manage daily life and emergencies. You're tutelage through these videos so far is inspiring. Thanks!
Thank you so much for the kind words and I congratulate you and your wife on deciding to move out of the city and into the country. Being able to protect yourself and your wife is a right that should never be taken away. Thank you again and enjoy the country life, be safe and thank you for watching my videos.
Very nice! If my Ruger SR1911 (10 mm) didn't have such nice black rubber grips, I'd order these. I may need to buy another pistol just to get these grips!
Let me start with, OMG do you these grips match my gun? Couldn’t resist ! Seriously tho, I wouldn’t have considered blue grips had I not watched this. They look as good as they perform ! Good shooting by the way! I love metal targets. Thanks for another quality video !
Leaving texture out of the discussion, my preference would be to mount the brown grips on the Ruger and the blue grips on the Colt. My unsolicited 'contrariness' to one side, I really enjoy your videos. Please keep 'em coming.
I really enjoyed this video! Wondering if you're still using the Lok Ops grips? If so, how do you like them now long term? I was torn between Lok and VZ but with the price difference being $30 for what looks like the same thing, I'm leaning towards the Lok Grips. Wondering if you'd recommend the ones you have in this video or would try another style? Thanks!
These grips look great on a stainless or chrome plated 1911.. i don’t think it would look good on a blued gun.. nothing beats cocopolo or rosewood on a blued 1911 in my opinion
Nice The most uncontrollable pistol I have ever shot is a Colt 1903 with mother of pearl grips. The keying bushing were also missing. Both grips would spin about the securing screw. Nickel plated as well so it is really pretty. I changed the grips out to checkered walnut a few years ago but have not had it out since. Shooting 32ACP is like burning ten dollars bills. In the last eighty years it may have had 200 rounds down the barrel, probably less. I like the Ruger...my last three self contained metallic cartridge rifles have been Rugers. That 1911 is a beauty. I paid 350 for a Tisas, because I didn't have the dough for a legit name brand. I really wanted a 1911 in my collection though. Although, I must say, it is a good little 9mm shooter..

Nice video, love wood grips on a 1911. But nothing like G10 for great control, no matter how sweaty or wet your hands get . Hello Brian. I haven't compared the two pistols side-by-side but it does sound like an interesting video. Thanks for the suggestion and hopefully I can come up with enough ammo to the do the comparison.
I have a ronin 1911 45acp that came with thin rosewood grips screws & bushings. I want to get a standard grip, will I be able to use standard size screws in the thin bushings? Lok & Springfield say I can just don’t over tighten them. I have seen videos online saying you can also. VZ Grips say it won’t work. Just like to hear some opinions on that . Thank you
