Dear Christopher It takes a strong man to be gentle. It takes a wise man to consider outer appearance lightly. It takes a free man to see the beauty in his environment. It takes a brave man to carve his own path. You are so fortunate to be your own man. May you well and happy. 🍁🙏🍁

Yes, and the homeless in the U. S. and all over the world can't even afford to live a minimalist lifestyle like Chris. Paradoxically you need to have enough money and a steady income to live a minimalist life.
"Letting go of the ego"- that's exactly what so many people are refusing to do, hurting themselves over time! Thank you, Christopher, for this inspirational video!
Hey mate, just walked around Benchakitti park this morning, absolutely beautiful. Then walked to Ruam Sap market. Had magnificent food for no money. Then back to hotel a 8.8k walk. Just arrived from Hua hin. Great minds think alike. I totally understand why you left your own country, I m in the process of doing the same from Oz. Keep up the vids really refreshing.

I have been planing the same retirement path as you the last 5 years but you have given it more clarity. I head to SE Asia in January for my second exploratory trip of over 2 months, on this one I may not return to USA for years, my first 2 month trip in August 24 was so good. Appreciate your channel. You put yourself out there as a youtuber. Having watched several of your vlogs, you have explained how you went from hitting rock bottom to rebuilding your life and finding happiness on your terms. Your vlogs are inspirational. Thank you. Any thoughts on writing a second book or a sequel to your first book? Safe travels. Mahalo.
So nice of you to want to inspire others. It sure feels good to get out of debt and get your health back again. Once those things are under control, then it easier to achieve peace of mind and feel the appreciation for life😄

Chris, This is your best episode yet. Very personal and philosophical. You are a special person and humble. I’m actually staying at 41 Sumkumvit road, it’s where my hotel is located. I’ve noted the restaurants and park, thanks. I’ll be in Bangkok on the 28th Dec for 5 days before exploring other parts of Thailand, it’s a shame I’ll miss you, would’ve been great to get to say hello and share a coffee.
Another in a series of great inspirational slowmad videos by Chris! Love the belief of Bodhisattva and hopefully one day I can continue my growth to peace and joy and learn how to Put others ahead of myself. I always wonder how many live that enlightened life? I have hope I will continue to grow like you Chris. Thanks again Chris….you are my spirit animal🙏
Great video Chris, you are an exemplar. “ The fault lies not in the stars, but in ourselves” Great to see a living example of a man in training. Training for what ? For the most important training there is, to become a better human being. Always appreciate your videos, thank you.
Great video! You are right about your path to sharing with others an alternative way of living/retirement. Count me as one person that you have inspired. Hoping to "Retire and Go" after my youngest goes to college.
Your videos are often the highlight of my day and help to keep me on track and inspired to achieve my goal of slow travel. Just need to tie up some loose ends and find a long term pet sitter for my fur baby who acts like a vicious beast if I don't meet his every demand :)
Aloha my friend. very inspirational video and you are the helping viewers like myself guide to freedom and independence to travel the world. You are the Messiah of retirement and travel. Mahalo
Great video my man, I am starting to do the work to change my mindset as well. I’ve always been the one in my family who’s always been on top. I’ve lost it all and had to start over. Trying to get everything back. However I’m starting to realize I don’t need everything back nor do I want it! My kids are grown and living their own life. So videos like these are really opening my eyes. I can definitely see myself making the move to Thailand! Thanks, these videos really help!! 🤜🏽🤛🏽💪🏾👍🏾💯
Your videos are fun for me to watch. I live vicariously thru them. I really hope I can do that soon (maybe 7 yrs if all goes well). Till then, short trips. Back in Pattaya in week...
Thank you, Christopher for another great video!! You’re quite inspiring! The freedom of living a minimum life is very hard but worth it ! Love your Bodhisattva philosophy🌺 thanks again. Keep up the great work!
Well done my brother, I've read probably everything Thich Nhat Hauh wrote never truly ever embraced that thought completely, I would love to hear more of your spiritual thoughts, added to the things you cover, PEACE!!! well done
Excellent video, Chris! Just recently subscribed mainly because of your investment suggestions that you bring up from time to time. Not financial advice, I know, but they're great for research purposes. I'm not quite at the stage where I can take 30 days to explore a different part of the world, but I have some destinations in mind - Southeast Asia and/or Latin America. Basically, anywhere where my money can go further. Keep up the great work!
I didn't think I wanted to visit SE Asia, but your videos have made me rethink it. If my idea is to visit 3 different cities in 3 different countries, let's say 2 weeks each, what 3 would you reccomend? Anybody else who reads my comment and wants to give their answer to that question, I welcome your input!

Great video I’m learning so much from you from your boots on the ground videos. Thank you so much for what you do. I just talked to a lifelong friend who travels for business all over the world. He’s going to sit down with me on the 24th or the 27th and we’re going to buy my first overseas airplane ticket. I’ll be flying out of Chicago approximately around January 12 or the 15th somewhere in that window. I’m either going to Malaysia or Thailand for the first month then I’m going to venture around to other places like Vietnam, Cambodia and the Philippines if there’s enough time if I find a cheap place in Thailand that I’m content being at, I might just do it off for the whole winter right there in one spot and then just venture out from there in two different areas of Thailand and then return to the monthly rental. I’ll be in Southeast Asia until mid May or even the end of May. Open itinerary, footloose, and fancy free. I’ve had a pair of those sandals for years they’re coming with me. I can’t wait to get this show on the road and start enjoying my retirement! Hopefully we’ll cross paths either this year or next year that would be awesome to shake your hand! Take care Christopher
Hi new sub from Australia. Enjoy your walk n talk vids. Long time traveler to Asia and working on retirement there in 2yrs. question did you plan your trip or just go.
We all know that counting on social security here in the US has always been risky and it has just been proven as the ages all seem to be going up by roughly 2 years..😠 I am thankful that i have other sources of income but it can still hurt lots of people when they cant get access to their own money. Makes it even harder to survive here in the US.. even more reason to try and have an alternate source of income and then get the heck out to somewhere else.. It hurts me because being an army vet i love my country but i just cant afford it anymore. Good luck to you on your continued travels and I look forward to the next one
As you followers and views grow no doubt youtube will bring in another stream of passive income? Enjoy your content and attitude and sure it will grow as resonates with many older men
I’ve heard that most Asian airlines allow a carry-on weight of 15 pounds. Assuming you’re carrying your backpack, I’m curious to know how much everything in it weighs.
@@GuitarJams-zs7yfyes, for most Asian airlines (esp budget airlines), carryon limit is 7 kg/ 15.4 lbs. Sometimes it's 7 kg plus a personal item: man bag/ purse (for ladies). Sometimes the personal item's weight is included in the 7 kg (depends on airline). If you have a wheelie case, don't have a large-ish backpack as a personal item cuz they'll weigh it too (usually). Some airlines don't allow folding umbrellas in carryon (cuz potential use as weapon).
There are many retired living Vanlife. They find it very affordable. Rent and/or a mortgage on SS, means all your $ goes into rent, cable, cell, etc. and nothing left over for entertainment. I want to do this and travel the country living on wheels. Told my wife I'm buying a van to build out, but my wife is refusing to 💩 in a bucket.😂 More Americans are finding alternatives to growing old in the US. Large expat communities outside the US. I've been looking into 24×7×365 care facilities overseas. My dad had dementia and it costs $10K a month. It's under $1K a month in Thailand and Philippines. I told my wife that if I ever get to where I need round-the-clock care she should move me overseas.
I know of an older vanlife couple from the UK. For their bathroom issues on the road, they usually go to McDonald's or similar, esp for number 2. For number 1, the lady uses a "shewee" (or similar). I've heard of a retirement/ hospice home in Chiang Mai (which accepts foreigners) but I don't know the specifics. I think vanlife in one's home country for 6 months then travelling abroad for the other 6 would be great for retirement.
@@eChicken-k6d I disagree. I know plenty of people with more than enough money that still live minimalist lifestyles. It's not for everyone. I would still have everything I need. Probably more than one backpack and I would rent a villa in Hua Hin.
Great video christoper , Just realized your name is Christoper .😂 I thought you were like Clint Eastwood in the man with no name Westerns😂😂😂. Still have responsibilities , but I’ll get there . Stay well…
Great video. Hey Chris got a question. What would be the best Bangkok hospital for urology? If someone had kidney stones problems, what hospital would you say is best for expats that’s affordable? If anyone could help that would be great for my research.
All of us only have 1 life. Few of us will go to our death satisfied we will be wearing a Rolex. Its what you do with the limited number of days you have on the planet. I look on with envy at your freedom and your opportunity to experience new and interesting things on a daily basis.
Very Excellent Video :) A+ I am still living the American dream and have a great job.... but I am done once I hit my magic number and that number will be in less than 4 years now. We should get a certificate saying "We Survived American Capitalism" and now have it working for us ! Always great to see your videos !
Mr Christopher, please explain your domicile. You say you pay no taxes on your capital gains but Hawaii taxes 7.25% , right? Domiciled elsewhere? Many in US will have this same issue.
A tree needs the branches to thrive. A neuron needs to reach out for the brain to work. The universe needs to expand so our planet can still exist. Without student there is no teacher. Without others what are we? It’s not like being surrounded by people. It’s the mind that inclines toward the happiness for all beings. We are pretty limited. Beyond us is limitless. 🍁
Spending $2000 per month by constant travelling is just your way of doing things. It works for you for now but you will eventually get tired of this. Long term it's gonna be exhausting..Most of the hotels you are staying at are frankly quite depressing looking ones even if you call them great or fantastic but I admire your spirit. For this kind of money you can quite easily retire in many European countries living in higher standard and definitely eating healthier. But it's just your way of doing things for now. Definitely not what many people would want to do for years.

I can’t wait to get this show on the road and start enjoying my retirement! Hopefully we’ll cross paths either this year or next year that would be awesome to shake your hand! Take care Christopher
I’m glad you are getting good information
I appreciate your time :-)
Another great video. :)
Very kind of you :-)
Hi new sub from Australia. Enjoy your walk n talk vids. Long time traveler to Asia and working on retirement there in 2yrs. question did you plan your trip or just go.
Welcome !
Yes I plan out about 30 days if possible :-)
Love the content thank you
I appreciate your time :-)
Welcome back to Bangkok 🤗😊👍🎊🎉
Thank you kindly :-)
Chris is the Buddha himself returned to us
I’m humbled :-)

We all know that counting on social security here in the US has always been risky and it has just been proven as the ages all seem to be going up by roughly 2 years..😠 I am thankful that i have other sources of income but it can still hurt lots of people when they cant get access to their own money. Makes it even harder to survive here in the US.. even more reason to try and have an alternate source of income and then get the heck out to somewhere else.. It hurts me because being an army vet i love my country but i just cant afford it anymore. Good luck to you on your continued travels and I look forward to the next one
One Vet to another - wishing you a happy and rewarding future Brother
Thank you for your service!
As you followers and views grow no doubt youtube will bring in another stream of passive income? Enjoy your content and attitude and sure it will grow as resonates with many older men
Just invest it
That is the way
Build your retirement income
Don’t change the lifestyle
That’s the key
I’ve heard that most Asian airlines allow a carry-on weight of 15 pounds. Assuming you’re carrying your backpack, I’m curious to know how much everything in it weighs.
If you ever have an issue just dump your ziplock with toiletries
Easy
I have been weighed a few times and they were fine with it
@@RetireandGo How much is the total weight?
@ hmm I think 7 kg
Told my wife I'm buying a van to build out, but my wife is refusing to 💩 in a bucket.😂
More Americans are finding alternatives to growing old in the US.
I would consider some north American travel in a van for sure
This is my plan for the future. Minimalist life in Thailand is good for your mental and physical health.
No ... minimalist equals Broke.
Nice!
Work, invest, workout, study, travel !
@@eChicken-k6d I disagree. I know plenty of people with more than enough money that still live minimalist lifestyles. It's not for everyone. I would still have everything I need. Probably more than one backpack and I would rent a villa in Hua Hin.
I have 2 pairs of KEENS, they rock! Your videos ARE inspiring.. keep it up. zimmyjim
Oh very nice!
Yes they are built strong and comfortable
I was walking at this park exactly 3 weeks ago.
It’s a beautiful area to walk :-)
How do you find these little expat joints?
Is there a website you check or something?
Walking
That is the key
I walk several kilometers every day
Did you do a video on where you got the shirts made?
Yes :-)
It’s called tailor of Pattaya
I would buy higher quality sunglasses for UV filtering (30 usd instead of 3 usd). I like the japanese brand Owndays in Gaysorn.
You may be right !
Ah, by the way, also love Det5. You have another one on soi 8, i think. Near your hotel.
I think I saw det5
Thank you !

Great video. Hey Chris got a question. What would be the best Bangkok hospital for urology? If someone had kidney stones problems, what hospital would you say is best for expats that’s affordable? If anyone could help that would be great for my research.
Oh my goodness the best hospital for urology
Please check out Bumrungrad
All of us only have 1 life. Few of us will go to our death satisfied we will be wearing a Rolex. Its what you do with the limited number of days you have on the planet. I look on with envy at your freedom and your opportunity to experience new and interesting things on a daily basis.
Well said
How will be remembered? Well, how did we live our lives :-)
Very Excellent Video :) A+ I am still living the American dream and have a great job.... but I am done once I hit my magic number and that number will be in less than 4 years now. We should get a certificate saying "We Survived American Capitalism" and now have it working for us ! Always great to see your videos !

Can you do a cost comparison b/e major cities in SE?
Hmm that would be interesting for sure
Got rid of the car. Now I can save $750 extra every month. Going to BKK in 3 weeks. For vacation. Low cost ofc.

Mr Christopher, please explain your domicile. You say you pay no taxes on your capital gains but Hawaii taxes 7.25% , right?
Domiciled elsewhere?
Many in US will have this same issue.
If you are going to travel full time you may as well change residency to Texas :-)
Nai Phlao Beach Khanom, Thailand
Thank you! I’ll check this out
Can fly to Surat Thani drive 1 hour to Khanom or Go to Surat Thani from Koh Samui, by plane or boat.
@ oh nice
A little plane would be fun

It’s not like being surrounded by people. It’s the mind that inclines toward the happiness for all beings.

Captain positivity here :-)
Haha
Have a good week and get outside ok?
I like the look so hope I dont offend you. Is that your natural hair color? :)
Haha I’m 54!
