Too often we see relationships through the eyes of the external influences, like movies, music, poetry, our family and friends. Hyuk Jun 👍🏼 I loved watching you in His Man. One thing to look for when falling in love. Understand and look for narcissism as a survival strategy. People who now only see others as objects and replaced sincere love with manipulation. I had to do serious research into this term. Just to save my sanity. Narcissists are no joke.
They are not bad people. They just chose a bad survival strategy. Most of us live through “Faith in OUR survival”. Feeling that if you win then I win. A narcissist has been forced to live in “Fear of ME NOT surviving”. Thinking that if you get a piece of the pie then they lose and get less of the pie. It comes from trauma and abandonment. You never deserve to be treated badly.
I hate that the gay community has a higher risk of trauma and abandonment as children. This is how narcissism is created. Making the childish decision that “I can only depend on myself”. Only my opinion matters. Only my needs matter. Love becomes a tool not a fuel.
Of course Putin, Xi, Kim Jong Un, and Trump are the worst examples of a narcissist. The average every day narcissists are the ones who make you think you have gone crazy. Those who make you feel bad when you try to set any kind of healthy expectations. Changing the rules to keep them in control. Cut you off, without a thought, if you don’t go along with them. Keep yourself safe by studying the term well.
We can all have a bit of narcissistic thinking but the ones who refuse to fix it, or even look at it, will never love you. They will even try to blame you for it. They will cheat on you because to them you are no longer a valuable object to them. That hurts so much until you see they were never capable of love in the first place. The hardest part, in recovering, is the loss of self confidence. How could I have picked such a person? It is not you. You faced life with courage. Ready to love sincerely. That is the only way to happiness.
