I like that Kim thoroughly thinks out his points before meeting with executives and/or HR people. That, plus the longevity of their channel has meant that a lot of the employees are openly aware of his status and having a partner (Pack). So the idea of benefits for a partner seems a natural next step for the company!

Kim, I believe you said you worked for a big bank (or some big finance company). Here, in the US, LGBT+ benefits at large banks is a given. They have been for a while. I retired from the second largest bank in the US and they've had partner benefits for around 30 years. They provide partner benefits so they can entice the best and brightest people to the bank. Every major bank I know of in the US has been providing partner benefits for a very long time. I know companies in Korea aren't as progressive as that, but they need to be in order to attract the best employees. Providing same sex benefits for medical insurance, family leave benefits, child (new born) time off, etcetera, is only going to push a company into the forefront of places that LGBT people would want to work. After all, if you're interviewing for a job, as an LGBT+ person, wouldn't you consider a company who offers equal benefits for same sex couples as they do to straight married couples before any other company? The entire benefits package is an enticing incentive to anyone looking to further their carrier and as a company offering these benefits is much better off in the end. Congratulations on speaking out and being a leader in your companies transformation in granting equal benefits to their LGBT+ employees!!

I found a sense of control, over such abuse, by understanding that there are just 2 survival strategies to choose from. One or the other decides our motives and actions. It is either “Faith in OUR survival” or “Fear of “ME” NOT surviving. There is life’s original strategy “Faith in OUR survival” through sincere love and mutual respect. Working together. “Your success means my success”. Kim. Your new company, and the old one too, are a wonderful example of that “Faith in the OUR”. What sincere democracy grows from. Beautiful examples of democratic capitalism. Unfortunately all info I get, about S Korean culture, says that there are narcissistic/fascist powers determined to drown its citizens in “Fear of ME NOT surviving”. The other warped and fake survival strategy. Grown from grief and rage, at a sense of abandonment from the “OUR”, that they direct outwards. Their selfish safety gained through feeling “Better than” others. What fascism grows from. What fascist capitalism grows from. What narcissistic fascist family structures grow from. The ones we all love to hate in K-Dramas. What fascist religious factions grow from. The rejection of the OUR, love, mutual respect and the creation of new survival tools like manipulation, greed, and brutality. The cultivation of self hatred in us. All others become objects to use for their own needs. Targets of love or hate. That targeting, of their fear onto others, is what impacts the sense of safety within the LGBTQ community. The forced hierarchy tactic that seeks to always point out who is above and who is below. All so that they can claim superiority. Used by school bullies all the way up to fascist dictators. Twisting every aspect of humanity to gain power. Older to younger, man to woman, popular to loner, school educated to self educated, boss to worker, king to peasant, city to country dweller, light skin to darker skin, thin to fat, straight to gay, and the all time most popular Korean tactic… “pretty” to what the fascists manipulates us into calling “ugly”. Yes. The “physical” is fun but stays behind in the end. Wealth, family status, physical strength, and beauty are admirable things… until a fascist manipulates your fear. Fear about where you fit into their constructed forced hierarchy in those groups. Driving all of us to seek the latest designer “whatever”. The latest plastic surgery. The latest technology. The better car. The bigger house. Fascists have fear as their motivation and use it as a weapon against others. All the world can be seen through the measuring of “Faith in” or “Fear of”. Our hurt feelings, and relationship troubles, can be healed by looking at where our actions fit on these two paths. The damage to this planet can be healed as well. It is now vital that we use this to see what is going on around us. It is my purpose, in life, to step back and focus on the biggest picture. The future of life on this planet. It is the narcissistic/fascist survival strategy that is bringing all life to an end through global warming. As it manipulates us down this path of crazed consumption. Abuse, manipulation, and greed are certainly not God’s plan. Waking up to see our reality is absolutely necessary right now. All history proves that selfish, narcissistic, fascist thinking is ultimately anti-survival. Putin is proving that as we speak. As the Ukraine people are proving their “Faith in OUR survival”. Holding back fascism for the rest of the world. “Faith in” or “Fear of”. Which do you think got humanity through these last million plus years? Kim, I believe you said you worked for a big bank (or some big finance company). Here, in the US, LGBT+ benefits at large banks is a given. They have been for a while. I retired from the second largest bank in the US and they've had partner benefits for around 30 years. They provide partner benefits so they can entice the best and brightest people to the bank. Every major bank I know of in the US has been providing partner benefits for a very long time. I know companies in Korea aren't as progressive as that, but they need to be in order to attract the best employees. Providing same sex benefits for medical insurance, family leave benefits, child (new born) time off, etcetera, is only going to push a company into the forefront of places that LGBT people would want to work. After all, if you're interviewing for a job, as an LGBT+ person, wouldn't you consider a company who offers equal benefits for same sex couples as they do to straight married couples before any other company? The entire benefits package is an enticing incentive to anyone looking to further their carrier and as a company offering these benefits is much better off in the end. Congratulations on speaking out and being a leader in your companies transformation in granting equal benefits to their LGBT+ employees!!

You both kind of fell into being Trail Blazers in S Korea🏆🏆. You have mentioned the abusive comments. I found a sense of control, over such abuse, by understanding that there are just 2 survival strategies to choose from. One or the other decides our motives and actions. It is either “Faith in OUR survival” or “Fear of “ME” NOT surviving.
There is life’s original strategy “Faith in OUR survival” through sincere love and mutual respect. Working together. “Your success means my success”.
Kim. Your new company, and the old one too, are a wonderful example of that “Faith in the OUR”. What sincere democracy grows from. Beautiful examples of democratic capitalism.
Unfortunately all info I get, about S Korean culture, says that there are narcissistic/fascist powers determined to drown its citizens in “Fear of ME NOT surviving”. The other warped and fake survival strategy. Grown from grief and rage, at a sense of abandonment from the “OUR”, that they direct outwards.
Their selfish safety gained through feeling “Better than” others. What fascism grows from. What fascist capitalism grows from. What narcissistic fascist family structures grow from. The ones we all love to hate in K-Dramas. What fascist religious factions grow from. The rejection of the OUR, love, mutual respect and the creation of new survival tools like manipulation, greed, and brutality. The cultivation of self hatred in us. All others become objects to use for their own needs. Targets of love or hate.
That targeting, of their fear onto others, is what impacts the sense of safety within the LGBTQ community. The forced hierarchy tactic that seeks to always point out who is above and who is below. All so that they can claim superiority.
Used by school bullies all the way up to fascist dictators. Twisting every aspect of humanity to gain power. Older to younger, man to woman, popular to loner, school educated to self educated, boss to worker, king to peasant, city to country dweller, light skin to darker skin, thin to fat, straight to gay, and the all time most popular Korean tactic… “pretty” to what the fascists manipulates us into calling “ugly”. Yes. The “physical” is fun but stays behind in the end.
Wealth, family status, physical strength, and beauty are admirable things… until a fascist manipulates your fear. Fear about where you fit into their constructed forced hierarchy in those groups. Driving all of us to seek the latest designer “whatever”. The latest plastic surgery. The latest technology. The better car. The bigger house. Fascists have fear as their motivation and use it as a weapon against others.
All the world can be seen through the measuring of “Faith in” or “Fear of”. Our hurt feelings, and relationship troubles, can be healed by looking at where our actions fit on these two paths. The damage to this planet can be healed as well. It is now vital that we use this to see what is going on around us.
It is my purpose, in life, to step back and focus on the biggest picture. The future of life on this planet. It is the narcissistic/fascist survival strategy that is bringing all life to an end through global warming. As it manipulates us down this path of crazed consumption.
Abuse, manipulation, and greed are certainly not God’s plan. Waking up to see our reality is absolutely necessary right now. All history proves that selfish, narcissistic, fascist thinking is ultimately anti-survival. Putin is proving that as we speak. As the Ukraine people are proving their “Faith in OUR survival”. Holding back fascism for the rest of the world.
“Faith in” or “Fear of”. Which do you think got humanity through these last million plus years? What kept all life going from day one? “Faith in OUR survival” or “Fear of ME NOT surviving”?
