I wrote up a more in-depth idea for my number one spot in this video! I really want an expansion that returns to some of the loose Charr storylines. Such as the Ascalonian ghosts, the reintegration of the Flame Legion into Charr society, the three new Imperators, the two Legion Citadels we haven’t been to, the war against the Ogres, and so on. This could fit into a lot of different expansions (probably two based on my ideas) but this is the one (at least the general ideas of it) that I would love to see the most. Guild Wars 2: The Curse of Ascalon This would be an expansion bringing us back to Ascalon and also taking us a bit further into the Blazeridge Mountains. The primary focus on this expansion would be cleansing the Foefire with Sohothin and Magdaer. With a secondary focus being on the Ogres in Blazeridge Mountains and helping out the Ash Legion. The primary characters of this expansion would be Rytlock Brimstone, Malice Swordshadow, Logan Thackerary, and whatever other members of Dragon’s Watch join us on this journey. Some major secondary characters could be Mia Kindleshot, Ember Doomforge, Crecia Stoneglow, and potentially Lagula. The first zone of the expansion is Drascir and would have a connecting portal to the Iron Marches, the second zone, and the main hub. This zone would be similar in style to a lot of the current zones we see in Ascalon already. With a major focus on large ruins that sprawl across the map with lots of secrets and hidden areas spread throughout. I would love to see a meta event/world boss that is similar to the Duke Barradin meta from Vanilla but different and made with 2023 standards and combat ideas. The second zone of the expansion would be Blazeridge Highlands. There would be a few Ascalonian ruins spread throughout but a major focus on this zone would be about the ogres. Similar in style to the Harathi Hinterlands which focuses on massive battlefields against centaurs, we would see the same but against ogres. I’d love tall mountains with deep valleys and waterfalls and rocky cliff edges. I would love to see a lot of character development with ogres (where we basically deal with aggressive ogres and become allies with the friendly ones). I think we could also get a cool ogre focused meta event with an ogre boss. The hub for this expansion would be the Ash Citadel. This would be a massive area similar in style to Arborstone or the Wizard’s Tower, serving as the primary hangout spot for this expansion. This would be the primary headquarters of the Ash Legion in the world, and would be themed around a lot of the ideas that make the Ash Legion the Ash Legion. So lots of cool hidden areas and secrets to discover. The third zone that would be released over the course of three updates would be the Blazeridge Peaks. This would be connected to the Blazeridge Highlands and be a highly mountainous zone that we slowly progress upwards higher and higher across each release. Where the highest point of the Blazeridge Mountains could be here and could be the location that the Foefire is ended (or it could end in Drascir, Rin, or Ascalon City and we could return there for the final mission of the expansion). We could see a variety of far reaching Ascalon towns as well as Ogre encampments all along the mountain peaks. One mastery line can be related to Charr technologies. We could see some expansion of the United Legions Waystation Synchronization mastery line, similar to how the Skyscale Mount mastery was expanded on with Flight Training. We could get a mastery related to spy things with the Ash Legion like sabotage, subterfuge, and stealth. We could get a mastery line related to ogre society. We could get a mastery line related to the magics of the Foefire and ghosts. We could see a new type of content called “Exorcisms” which are similar to Rifts (I suspect they will add content like this under a new name with each expansion). It could focus on eliminating ghosts in various parts of Ascalon and the expansion maps. It can feature unique boss fights and maybe require us to complete a puzzle or siege specific ruins. I have to say, Woodland Cascades always has and still would excite me the most out of anything. A deep dense forest with a very fantasy-vibe, man... there's nothing better
Tbh I think it's already time they do their own thing and go outside of what is known from GW1 and do #4. Just go to a land never talked about or seen before, with their own culture and races. I know GW2 already does that in a lot of places, but somewhere entirely new would be a breath of fresh air. I also like the idea on #3 of expanding the skiff system. They seem kinda underused so giving it a new mastery or more uses would be nice.
THE Domain of winds BUT make it the CITY instead ! If each expansion has a city map ! JUST IMAGINE A VERTICAL city ! I know they're flightless but still !
