Since it's 41 degrees outside, there is a low chance a gator would be in the water. Edit: They go into brumation if it's cold enough, basically don't move unless it warms up. If they can bask to warm up they will but slipping into the water would undo the heating up they just did quite quickly.

I'm surprised at how big those pone teeth are. These would be 10k years old at the youngest, long before the introduction of equus cabalus in the mid 15 hundreds? Would that mean they're from before or around the megafauna that died out at the end of the Ice Age? I haven't a clue about this stuff despite going to school for equine studies. SO freaking cool. Coolest job ever. Inspired me to go look some stuff up and I thank you for that.
We go down to southern Baja and there’s a little area of cliffs that we find all manner of fossils. It’s truly beautiful and exciting to find them. You can keep your gators, lol, I’ll stick to dry land and rattle snakes 🤙🏼
Although your description is misleading I still found the video to be enjoyable. I would imagine that you're in the Peace River collecting these fossils it is an amazing thing to do.

Great finds and video ! I like the ID’s that you have pop up showing what you find, but could you make them a bit smaller ? They take up a lot of screen space and cover up your finds.

Ps I watched the Alligator attack Caught live on Go pro tbh that's what made me a subscriber. Ps that man that lived to tell his story about how the Gator attacked him he was one lucky man as the sheer pressure that their jaws have it's amazing his scull was not poped as 3000 pounds per square inch of pressure if astounding. Kudos to him for meeting you and going back to that horrible place and it's was a great insight into how aggressive the Gators can be and also you found that full lower jaw of something that lived a very long time ago. Well done buds.
Appreciate it man. I haven't really earned anything but absolutely love doing it. The fossils do have value, but I work a full time job and have 3 kids and a wife, so I am really usually hunting like every other weekend. That viral video did actually create some money from ads though! First time that's happened! I would love to do this for a living but really my channel would have to be huge to be able to cover my current job.

South Central FL there. There is no fear of alligators when the water is that cold. But it's one of those things you just need to be aware of when you are in the water. Outside of April they aren't aggressive animals. I have never come face to face fully immersed in water but I just started doing more than standing and sifting this year. I have several friends who have. Just stay aware and smart... but keep living 😁
I was actually expecting to see a Great White shark appear in the video, the moment you dived into the poor vis water I thought how bad that would be if a Great white or an alligator came out of nowhere.
It's FWC here in Fla.. they are fair game and there's actually a market for them meat wise, apparently they send them back to Wherever in Asia they're from, a delicacy.. I've seen boatloads of them cast netted around lake O, fish-houses buy em.. hope they wipe em out! (non-native)

The shape tells me this was a naturally shed antler vs one which was either broken off during the rut or simply broke away from the skull of a dead animal.
I am running with a tactical helmet with a light clipped on both sides. They are small but powerful but honestly my biggest problem right now. I need a better light. They shut off entirely pretty quickly. I did however just get in "snapmounts" for my gopro im very excited to use. Makes switching the gopro to different locations super fast.
I was just curious where do you start looking. I know you said at the beginning of the video that you go to isolated places where people don't go. Once you find your spot, thereafter finding one fossil there must be tons of it after that.

I came prepared to say that's not a great white, it's a bull shark. Tooth in the title would have made all the difference. I do respect the fact that you are clearly an expert and know what you are talking about, an interesting video.
It's crazy but 2 of you said something about the title in the last 12 hours and nobody has said anything about that for 3 or 4 months since it was released. I did just spot a bull shark on the peace river 2 weeks ago. But if I find a fossil It's a discovery because I'm keeping it lol. Probably gets a few extra clicks for sure. The only thing that fossilizes with sharks is their teeth and on rare occasion a vertebrae which is probably why we rarely say tooth in our circle. I will say my very first video was titled megalodon found and it's not a great video but got nearly 10,000 views in a couple days. It wasn't until I found it shared on Facebook did I realize people were expecting I found a live version of the shark that has been extinct 3 million years 😁 I do hope you enjoyed the video. Seeing all of the bones / vertebrae on the river botton tells me these animals didn't drown while swimming. They came to the waters edge for a drink, or attempted to swim across. The ancestors of the present day alligator ate them. I won't swim there ...
It's actually usually soil from the banks that the water has cut into, and filtered out for us to find in a smaller area. I can say that this location was not a historical river, but at one time was ocean and another time land.
All credible sources show the great white has existed for over 400 million years. Depending on conditions fossilization can occur within 10,000 years. Paleontologists all agree with 100% certainty great white sharks existed and swam over what is now Florida and there are still many great white teeth to be uncovered. If it's something that interests you we can definitely refer books to further any studies.

One of those titles that was never seen as click bait until the channel started gaining traction. Since fossil hunters know all that can fossilize is the teeth saying tooth feels silly to us. We used to find tons of shark teeth in Rock Springs Apopka, Fl. Haven’t found any since I was a kid. Love this channel, awesome work y’all do.

We always find shark teeth under Hillsborough river and lots of kids feeding the Gators 🐊 and crocs with burgers 🍔 chicken 🍗 and watermelon 🍉

That is so strange you found shark teeths in Florida inside a river.
We were nearly entirely covered in water at various times, and just as weird finding all the land animals a half mile out into the gulf.

One of those titles that was never seen as click bait until the channel started gaining traction. Since fossil hunters know all that can fossilize is the teeth saying tooth feels silly to us. But now that it blew up and people got bent out of shape I added the word (teeth) but it feels silly still as a fossil hunter lol
