What a lovely video. You have a story tellers voice and an excellent ear for background music. I could quite happily sit here listening to you narrate something for some time!

This was an excellent comparison and explanation of the different types of antennas to use for QRP. I’ve been looking around for a QRP radio and an antenna to go with it to do SOTA and POTAs. Since the 818 is discontinued, I’ve been looking at the 705 or maybe the Xiegu X6100.

I have the 40/20 and Tactical Mini.. Sotabeams recommends using the two antenna legs and the support rope as the mast guys. Works pretty well and cuts down stuff. Will use guying kit if windy.

Bob I have run QRP since 1978, Don't get me wrong bur do run 100 watts once in a while. I enjoy the EFHW antenna with my homemade 49/1 transformer and 66 ft of wire with a 75 meter coil attached can run without a tuner on 10,15,20,40, and 75 and it sure helps to use resonant ants. I still have my Heathkit hw8 it it works as good todays as when it was new.Keep up the great videos. 73 from ki0ad/Jim

Fantastic video Bob. Love that loop antenna you had on the desk, I use two antennas 1. An end fed bundu basher, 2. A link dipole 15, 20 and 40m. I need that mast for my link dipole, I use a painters pole that extends to about 2.3m. My support for the painter's pole is simply three shelf brackets attached with two metal hose clamps. They form the legs. But totally agree the link dipole hands down is the best. In my case no tuner needed as the links are cut exactly right. 73

Great video Bob. Great info. I am yet to buy a HF rig, thinking of the G90 and will probably use a linked dipole. Sotabeams are in my town.

Thank you for the video. What’s the length of the rope part at the end of each dipole leg?

I'm a qrper from way back in 1978 and a heathkit hw8 which I still have. I'm presently using an 817 and Icom 703. It a great day when qrpers work dx and believe me it can be done. How's things at the Club miss those guys. 73 from ki0ad/jim formerly kd4hep.

The club is doing well. The majority of the club did winter field day at the Bay county EOC. A few of us were camping. I love QRP myself. It is amazing what 5 watts can do sometimes.
