- this is a collection of footage from the 80s at springs branch ft br blue locos. i filmed this on an old vhs camcorder please note the quality isnt brilliant and it were all hand held but it gives an insight what it were like back then with some long gone locos.
ft class 45 class 20s on coal . part two coming soon.
the 80s were the best years,,nice to watch ,GR8 vid..look forward to part 2
Great stuff, thanks for uploading :)
Brings back some good memories..
Spent many a hour at the branch in the 80's
I remember me & my dad being allowed to walk around the site once and even got a cab ride in a Class 25. Long before the days of Health & safety...
Summarises my best times and great memories for me. Thank you so much. Nice quite rare peak class 45 too, come to refuel.
Good stuff, the mind truly boggles how close it was possible to stand next to the WCML back then!
Great stuff. Nice to see some quite rare video of this area, didn't think many had a video camera back then. I have a fair bit of footage from Springs Branch from 1990 onwards up until about 97 when we pretty much stopped going. Used to spend hours here with my dad and brother watching the trains passing and standing still. Haven't been to the site for ages, but I expect it's changed abit. Things like this we can't enjoy anymore, they're determined to restrict our movements and stop us enjoying ourselves with things like this - all innocent stuff. It would be deemed anti-social or an act of terrorism today (yeah right).
Some wonderful vintage footage Kev...Thanks...Bob
superb video, shame it isnt like this anymore, looking forward to part two.
The good ol days
Great footage , but what a lot of fannying around those 20 s had to do , all costly and labour intensive , no wonder it was all cut back plus the coal went
Sure 20085 was a through steam piped ED one!
Hellfire
Imagine trying to film this place now and getting close to the lines, before you know it you'd be surrounded by jobsworth security in a hi viz asking why you are filming and standing on private property. Even if were filming from the other side of the fence on a public path they would still ask why you are filming and all this crap that it's a bye law. Laws can be created out of thin air when it suits them.
top stuff
