I did hear about the potential for a huge tsunami off the East coast,if say there's a massive land slide into the sea from a large eruption. Anyone with relatives, especially elderly and disabled people, should have them prepare for a possible evacuation, whenever there's volcanic activity in that region. The predicted wave for such a tsunami would be higher than average.
This was years ago,on the radio, discussing what- ifs. Ever since, I've watched the Atlantic- Caribbean area for just such a thing,in case I traveled that way.

That is a vent opening up that is along the fissure on its way up to the main volcano. It is a sign there is magma inching its way up through the lave tubes to La Palma main vent volcano. I give it 2 days max till main volcano erupts. I would vacate now just out of precaution. in other words Run!
They have already evacuated 700 as there is a risk of the main (and only) road being cut. They appear to be sending fire engines / ambulances from the other Canary Isles.

These type of eruptions don't usually cause too much damage.There is plenty of warning .The main danger is people falling over each trying to get good mobile phone footage or getting a selfie by fast moving lava

@@dorsets9295 Even if some land collapses, it really depends on how much land slides quickly into the ocean. It would take a really large amount of the land to rapidly collapse into the ocean to generate the "killer" waves being talked about , not just some of the land.

This could be the same. It depends whether the lava is coming from a magma chamber or the mantle. On how long it lasts.

By the time the tsunamis propagate across the Atlantic, much of their initial height will have dissipated and they will be broken up into hundreds of smaller waves. Maybe 10 meters at Miami Beach max, but as little as 6 feet.. Not the same outcome for the African coast, the Brazilian coast of South America, Spain and Southwest England. The good news is that a geological survey and study performed about 10 years ago determined that the west slab of the island is stable and not showing evidence of slippage. It is estimated that another 10,000 years of intermittent eruptions would be required to increase the slope on that side enough to destabilize it.
In the past when these islands have erupted, there has been tsunami activity that has affected the east coast of the United States. Just something to keep in mind.

This could be the same. It depends whether the lava is coming from a magma chamber or the mantle. On how long it lasts.

The lava itself may be a lot of co2, however ash is extremely nutrient to the soil, which is why you see so many trees on the volcano.

By the time the tsunamis propagate across the Atlantic, much of their initial height will have dissipated and they will be broken up into hundreds of smaller waves. Maybe 10 meters at Miami Beach max, but as little as 6 feet.. Not the same outcome for the African coast, the Brazilian coast of South America, Spain and Southwest England.
The good news is that a geological survey and study performed about 10 years ago determined that the west slab of the island is stable and not showing evidence of slippage. It is estimated that another 10,000 years of intermittent eruptions would be required to increase the slope on that side enough to destabilize it.
