0:31 As much as I love TAIM, there always seems to be something lacking in the mix. And it was this part that helped me understand it. Your guitar volume is tracked too high(not a bad thing) and the guitar mix volume is tracked too low(that's a bad thing). I'd much rather hear the crunch of the guitar in TAIM songs with it overvolumed in the mix rather than undervolumed in which has always made it sound bland. I wish they would have the volume of the guitars set right in the middle between your cover mix and their track mix. Putney is an amazing producer and musician but he's gotten completely stagnant production wise. Those guitars can always come through clearer and crunchier in the mix and he's just missing it by going through the routine of what worked before.
I can agree with you since it has been really hard to figure out some parts because of the low guitar volume. That also happens with FFAA although to a lesser degree. Production wise FFAA seems a little bit better than TAIM, but still... Thanks for your insight!
