For nearly 155 years the International Committee of the Red Cross has worked to bring families separated by conflict or natural disaster back together again.
Under international humanitarian law, aka the laws of war, people have the right to know what happened to their missing relatives. Governments, the military authorities and armed groups have an obligation to give information and help efforts to put families back together.

When you lose your kids in public you get the whole perspective of how truly big the world is...
So enormous, yet so small at times. Truly poetic.
Now this is a comment for the history books
Damn that hit me hard
I remember that happened to me with my son when he was 3 years old. I was in a bodega getting something small, and in a matter of seconds my son was gone. I looked around the store, not there. Ran out of the store he was no where to be found. I was so scared, I went into a zone. Crying I spotted a young lady holding his hand because he had run out of the store trying to cross this huge street to go to McDonald's....She was my son's angel, I thanked her but I never got her name because I was so overwhelmed with fear, and relief that he was safe. Wherever she is today, God bless you for saving my son. It could have been tragic.

@@ihateyouall7026 Both parent and child will be in distress. It's not simply "oh I'm lost!" It's the dread that you are separated from the only people you know in a sea of strangers. It's disorientating to look around and only see faces unfamiliar to you. Running around looking for them and not finding them just adds fuel to the flames of panic.

I read in one of Reddit public chats a story of one mother. She lost a child in overcrowded mall, as soon as she understood what happened she jumped on a bench there and screamed to people about what happened and how her child was looking. EDIT: just to clarify since some of you seem to be confused. money isn't the only issue, and i never said it was. loving something so much and having it disappear despite putting in so much effort into loving it must be a living hell to experience. yes, while it is equally bad for the parent and child, sometimes the child doesn't understand exactly how deep the situation is. so please don't take the first part of my comment out of context.
nah. everyone usually only talks about the child. Imagine investing thousands, even MILLIONS of dollars into your kid, loving them with every ounce of your being, giving up on hopes and dreams, but having them disappear? holy shit. Being the child thats lost is actually not as scary as it is for the parent, I mean yes, it is scary. But you actually know if your still alive...the parent doesn't.
Ik
we're just lost, knowing nothing to do while they'll be worrying the hell outta them, when guilty af
Yes, my mom would ALWAYS dress us the same as her so she could never forget what we were wearing. But when I was like 10 or 11, i think we were in Walmart, we were getting cat food and my mom said that I should get cat food as she got dog food(an aisle over). I grabbed the cat food and went over to meet my mom but she wasn’t there. So I stayed in the end aisle and looked down all the other ones. I didn’t see her anywhere so I stayed at the cat food. I was so scared because I had never been in that situation and even though I was in Walmart as a 10 year old I was scared. When my mom came back she didn’t even realize that she had scared me. Turns out she decided to grab something from a couple rows over but she never knew I lost her. So yes it is worse for the parent but also the kid depending on the situation. My mom didn’t even think twice about me being lost. If it was in a airport or fair, I agree with you.
Sorry for the long comment. I just am so grateful that parents are so careful with their kids. Bc some aren’t and it’s so sad 😞
Edit: my mom was gone for a good 9-10 minutes
True, my mom used to tie me on a leash and attach to her wrist back then. She said she'd rather be ridiculed than lose me.

Imagine loosing them forever 🇵🇸
In the USA and Europe they only pray for UKRAINE. We all know it.
It really cannot be expressed in words.
We had once lost our 7 year old daughter in a huge mall in a foreign country and the it was already their closing time.
The mall management tried to help us for some time as me and my wife were searching, digging, crying, screaming and begging.
After a while when she was not found they told us that she is not here and they started turning out the mall lights.
It seemed like the sky had fallen and the entire universe started spinning.
Like I am in the depths of deep dark ocean and can’t see anything or breath anymore.
The most horrible images of whatever worse could happen ran through my mind!
We wanted nothing else as if nothing exists anymore but to see and to hold our child!
I wished that it would only be a bad dream and to wake myself up and that it’s over.
We were crying like babies and than suddenly someone told us that a security guard has finally found her.
It felt like someone poured a bucket of cold water on me in a burning desert or pulled me back from falling down a deep ravine just at the last moment!
We recognized it was just over an hour or less!
Imagine families and children lost for years or God forbid forever.
It has been 13 years since but that memory still haunts us.
May God protect all the children in the world.
Ameen

@@laraendlight9887 right okay! So from my comment of “that really is very rare” you have some how come to the conclusion that I feel we all live in a “perfect world” and something really pathetic about a “princess world” (not quite sure what that even means) never heard that one before but you are very wrong. Just let me be clear for you as you seem to be going off track and losing the point completely. I’m talking directly about the post which is the horrific incident of James bulgers abduction, and murder back in 1990. The murder was carried out by Thompson and Venables both of whom were 10 years old. Now a case such as this undoubtedly made headline news, also including countless documentaries. I stand by my original comment Lara, two “ten” year old boys abducting and murdering another child is really very very rare!!!!! If you want to generalise the topic about the abduction of children, in the uk around 112 thousand children are reported missing each year! There are many reasons for this not all are abductions obviously. How ever the children who are abducted in those numbers are not generally being abducted by other Ten year old children. I teach my own children about the dangers of our “perfect world” you mentioned that I obviously feel we live in (sarcasm inserted here) I highly recommend that in future you read the comment properly without losing the context of what’s being said and then jumping to conclusions about a person you can not and do not know anything about, by being so sententious you make yourself sound a little silly. Have a wonderful day Lara.
