- He Truly was the Greatest and Tastiest Guitar Player I have ever Played drums with.
It was always a smaller venue and on this date the lights kept tripping the breaker so I had to enhance the video for you to see Shawn's Hands
Its difficult to see his fingers sometimes because they were scorching fast but I did my best to make it so you could see.
Shawn plays with so much Taste, Color, as well as melodically and with speed...
It's scary. I miss him for sure.
Hope you enjoy this video and share it as well.
The group is;
Drums - Chuck Bowers
Guitar - Shawn Lane
Keys and Vocals - Wes Bowers
Sax - Mark Lewis
Keys Bass- Rooney LaPlant
Chuck, the community of guitarists are so grateful for you doing these uploads. Especially those of us who never got to meet Shawn. Thank you for doing this for us
Thanks for saying and the encouragement.
If I could only ask one thing is that you and your friends try to share this with as many others as possible.
There is more to come.
Fr shawn was so hot
I couldn’t agree more , I’ve scoured the net for years for all the bootlegs and these uploads are fire 🔥!
Anywhere anytime any style Shawn Lane was limitless in his abilities. True genius.
well said
I never stop being amazed by his ability to improvise at this speed... improvise... pfffff
For sure...
Man his improv was over the top
It's always a pleasure to hear some never before heard Shawn Lane. I can never get enough of the Memphis monster :)
Yep.. Whats crazy is that this was my group and I was there playing on these dates but Its still exciting for me to listen back to these performances...
That was insane his timing and melody is second to none
Absolutely... You can hear me say from the kit "YEAH" because it was such an inspiring solo even as we were playing it...
Its great to know that there are others who hear what I was hearing...
@@gravitydrums1391 and thanks for uploading these I find his live stuff amazing
So many musicians do.. Including me and he and I played together many times.@@mangstrum
deadly groove
Thanks James.. We definitely had fun.
can't belive how clean he sounds even with that speed
For Sure..
cant believe this and the majority of Shawns lives are not recorded at high quality
I agree, but glad we had a friend who was in town just happen t record this...
Perfect groove for Shawn to let loose. Great 👍
I cant tell you how difficult it was for me to hold back and keep it simple.. It was very exciting playing with that much musical ability.. Sometimes I almost felt like jumping out of my drum seat.
He is still so far ahead of everyone on electric guitar and probably always will be.
Completely agree.
Im guessing youve never heard of yngwie malmsteem?
Actually we have.. Even he said Shawn was the greatest
Shawn....The GOAT. And your drumming kicks ass Chuck. That drum mix is HUUUUUGE and killin!
Thank you John,,, Whats weird is that its just the condensor mic from the camcorder picking up the EV main speaker I had and I was mixing from back at the drums..lol Amazing how I was able to do so much with so little.. I only wish that I knew that years later I would be posting these, I would have made the lighting better... Still, Its nice to be able to post these for you Guys.
I have never seen this before this was kick ass!
Thank you Zenn
This solo by Shawn is abxolutely out of this world , top class , limitless talent and creativity . The GOAT . Miss ya Bro...
Absolutely... It was so Difficult playing so simple in the pocket while Shawn was interjecting this massive musical performance.. You can even hear me yell YEAH! at the end of his solo.... We really enjoyed these dates even if they were in small venues.
I'm with others in thanking you for sharing these rare cuts of Shawn and co.! I've been following him for a couple of decades and it is always another revelation to hear his live playing in (for example) a funky modal tune!
hey man, you are a real blessing for all the guitarist and musicians around the world.
All this content you brought recently about shawn and you, it's unvaluable.
as an hardcore Shawn lane fan, i can only pray for you to release EVERYTHING, even if it's raw and all, and for you to do videos about stories you shared and collaboration with Shawn.
thank you from the bottom of my heart.
You don't know how important your work actually is for me.
God bless you
Wow, Its guys like you that make spending the time to post these videos worth it...
I am back from vacation and along with what I already have on this channel I will be posting more here in the next couple of days.
No freaking way.....Dean Brown just stopped dancing 😆
Awesome !! thanks a lot !!
Thanks for the appreciation.
Thanks for sharing Chuck, always loved the stuff with you and Shawn. This is so god damn tasty!! Love this track especially, keep it up man
Thank you Wesley... I will try my best... I am about to post another of this same night that for Shawn that is the scariest solo I have ever heard him play...
Share this video if you can because it needs to be seen by soo many more people...
Thanks for putting this up! Killer band to hear Shawn play with
Thanks for the appreciation. We definitely had fun doing these dates even if it was playing in small venues.
Insane.... Shawn he was ....❤
Absolutely Dino.
One thing I've always wondered is why Shawn didn't have you playing drums on his records, I like your playing a lot more than the guy who played on those couple tracks on Power of Ten where there are actual drums. Your groove and feel is 100 times better, that video at the Bombay Bicycle is amazing for Shawn's performance but also for yours! You two seemed like a perfect musical match
First of all let me say thanks for the great compliment..
There is so much behind this story so it might be better if I put it in a video...
Yea.. I will do a video on this because there is too much to say and then I can answer questions from there.. Is that ok for you...
In closing let me say this ... Yes, Shawn and I were extremely close and played very well together..
Thank you agan for the Kind word and being so estute.
@@gravitydrums1391 You and Sean Rickman were definitely the best fit for Shawn and complimented his playing extremely well. Rest in Peace Shawn...Greatest guitarist to ever walk the earth..
Thanks for the kind words...
What I really like that Rickman did was his solo album..
He recorded here in Memphis which is where I first met him. He Wrote, Played and sand everything.. It was VERY strong...
And yes, I miss Shawn Greatly.. He was a good friend and an amazing guy .. not just the best guitar player/Musician to walk this earth.
@@metroidxme6470
thanks for posting these Chuck! please keep them coming. :)

Will do.. Thanks Mathew
once again, shawn blew my mind............
What a f…. Groove!!!!! Love the sound so much !!!
Thanks so much for the compliment and checking it out.
guitar hell... That sax!!!!!!
Thanks Bill. Im with you.
What an inspiration.
For sure, Thank you Chloe.
This is great, never watched this video and I´ve seen a ton, Thanks!
CHeers Mike. GLad you enJoyed it.. As soon as I finish this festival date I will be posting another really nice one.
Another amazing performance - just when you thought you had seen them all: did you record any studio tracks together?
Yes I did and His Guitar playing is great but the recording tunes are from other people with crappy music.
I will post them if you would like.
@@gravitydrums1391 Anything would be greatly appreciated. I'm sure the fans would love to hear your collaborations as Official releases
@@alwilliams1997 Ok, Ill work on it..
What surprises me is that more people dont watch these videos of Shawn.. If I was a guitar player I would be all over watching every video of him possible...
I understand Human nature but its sad that if you're a fairly attractive girl who is only mediocre at best on guitar your bound to get hundreds of thousands of views but Shawn gets only a thousand or so views in a month.. Truly makes me sad... As you know He deserves so much more.
@@gravitydrums1391I watch every video of Shawn Lane I could find. He was an unbelievable talent. I really enjoy the videos of you and him playing, keep posting more 👍🏻
@@tusharsharma5924 Thank you Tushar... I will try my best to continue posting...
By the way My wife's Brother is named Tushar...But the last name is Patel...lol
His drums always spoils Shawn's playing .LIVERPOOL FC Shawn's the goat 🐐
I would hate to think that you were referring to my playing,
@gravitydrums1391 only joking mate it's a scouse sense of humour top drummer 👏 hope you're still playing
@@johnjonesufc Thank you John.. Yes I am still playing ... Maybe more now than in a long time.
@gravitydrums1391 is right mate if I could come to watch you from Liverpool England I'd be over keep smashing brother 👍
I recognized it instantly: I am a hard jazz-rocker too.
FANTASTIC! thanks for the heads up,this is a real treat
Glad you found it.. Its a Shame so many others dont know as well..
I will also be posting more to come here soon as well.
@gravitydrums1391 Jeff Sipe has been my favorite drummer since Col.Bruce Hampton & Aquarium Rescue Unit first album and I got into Jonss Hellborg because of my love for John McLaughlin so back in the 90's when someone told me about Temporal Analogs of Paradise I went to Tower Records on South St in Philadelphia and actually ordered it there and they called my house when it came in and I smoked a bunch of weed and listened and to this day it's my favorite instrumental album
@@howardcox2918 Thats Hilarious ..LOL
Yea, Jeff is a fine Drummer..
SHawn and I would have continued playing together but I was working with another group that was on tour and I couldnt leave it just then.. It was a bad decision but thats the business I suppose..
@@gravitydrums1391 I love Billy Squires drummer Bobby Chouinard, that dude had a heavy beat
I wish Shawn had a better management team 😪 he could have really been advertised better .I don't know Shawn maybe he was happy with just what he had❤I never even hurd of Shawn until the early 2000s such a talented guitarists 😊
Yep, Shawn and I had so much to look forward to and I was the one who basically put together the DUO. ... This is how Shawn got his record deal as well. ...then after I got back from a different tour I was commited to Shawn was swayed in a different direction by some other folks ... Truly a shame because we really loved playing together.
Thank you for these fantastic uploads! We will get the word out!
Very nice... Thanks. More to come soon.
So awesome. Thx Chuck. U r correct. Shawn was absolutely a master guitarist! You all are so tight here. Great great musicians. Thx. D
Hey Chuck, question. Is Mark still around Memphis? Are y’all still in touch? I remember he played one of Shawn’s memorial shows years back and he blew me away. He is a phenomenal player. I never knew him and I’d love to learn more about him. I hope you’re having a great weekend my friend.
Dont know if he's still around Memphis... He was working on his theology degree studying to be a pastor... He was a great guy.
If I wasn't lazy and talentless, I could play like this.
LOL...I had a teacher in High school that would always say something similar..
"I could have written that song if I had thought of it"
Yours is more funny!...
Wow!!
Thanks for watching Frank
Hey CHUCK, do you have anymore videos you could upload with Shawn Lane? Many thanks
Hey Al...
I JUST made it back in last night from Costa Rica..
I hadnt seen my wife in 2 years... The US immigration is sooo bad...
I will be settles in in a day or so and will begin posting more shortly after...
Good to hear from you again.
I thought the video title must be hyperbole. But no. One of the best solos I’ve ever heard.
BTW, brother, you had asked me about my Filipino wife’s immigration status in another post. Sorry to hear about your wife’s situation and you guys not being able to see each other. I wish I had more to offer but my wife has been in the USA for a few decades now so anything I know is old news, unfortunately. However, we hear of others in the community who are going through what you seem to be, regularly. Any path you can see to get the two of you back connected again soon?
I should add that that solo really exemplifies better than most others I’ve heard from him Shawn’s approach (which he described somewhere, I forget where) of using rapid-fire multi-note patterns to create melodic passages in much the same way as most “regular” guitarists use single notes to do the same.
This approach even seems to distinguish him from most fast players. Whereas for most fast players, one hears many notes played individually in rapid sequence, with Shawn it was as if with all those dozens of notes he was often really just playing one long note that wound and glided it’s way across an ever evolving melodic landscape. Quite a distinctive approach that is shared only by a few others - Holdsworth comes to mind, for instance.
I just left a message but it dissappeared.
First off, Thanks for the huge compliment, Shawn would be so honored by these comments and he would also appreciate you acknowledging what is really going on inside his solos.
As for My wife, the only was we are able to see each other for now is to meet in Costa Rica. Either that or head back to the Philippines which my daughter says no way to.
I continue to press on and trying to do this the proper and legal way... Just dont know why we continue to be turned down at every step.

Love♥️
Thanks.
Lovely playing. I see so many shredders on TH-cam showing off their fast arpeggios and scales yet what they’re playing is just utter shite…no expression, no soul, just playing patterns over and over again. There are exceptions of course but 99% of them couldn’t lace Shawn Lane’s boots.
So Funny and yet so True.
OK... So I dont even know what to say about this comment other than this is the most insightful and Knowledgeable comment I have EVER heard concerning Shawn... WOW!
You FULLY get his playing and if there was ever an article about Shawn that captured his playing you just nailed it!
Dont be surprised if I dont use this comment in the future for others to see and hear...
Thank you for your DEEP insight.

Hi, thanks for your kind words 👍 I’ve been playing guitar a long time and I fell into the trap early on of thinking that playing fast was the be all and end all…then when you mature a bit you realise nothing could be further from the truth, it’s about expression. Shawn’s technique is mesmerising but I honestly think his expression and emotion is second to none. I’ve DEFINITELY never seen anyone play such melodic lines at pace so effortlessly. He was a one off. @@gravitydrums1391
Absolutely..
@@gh103
Thanks for uploading man, what song is this ???
Certainly not the best guitar solo ever but it was good and definetly better than those zero feeling fast mumbo jumbo stuff i come across here and there from him. Funny part is when i was in my late teen and early 20's i could listening to that souless shreding stuff (especially when it's supported by a very groovey and melodic backing track) but as i got older i completly gravited towards players that had a great balance with melody, soul and exciting technical fast playing.
What's the song called?
Its been so long that I dont remember but I will
ask my brother who is on keys.. He will remember so I will have to get back with you.
I think it's called "Chicago Song".
Richard.. Good call. I think you are correct...
Thanks for reminding me.@@richardmuffley752

Yea, I'm the only one who has this as a friend of my brothers came out and filmed us on this one of two nights..
We didn't have room for Shawn to stand but he was smoking for sure.
