LOL!
Hey Slackers. A couple days late to this party, but totally digging it.
Regarding taking over ships, in the patch that removed center of mass targeting they changed it so ship weapons target the closest system instead. So, get behind a ship and fire away, you'll likely hit the engines.
OK - my wife walked into our home office while I was laughing my ass off at the Major pounding on Vasco for being a walking bucket of bolts obstruction. I tried to explain, but he more I laughed, the less she got my "infantile" humor. Guess you had to have followed the Major for a while 😁
Always enjoy get a Major Slack Notification!
👍 That cliffhanger ending had brutally unexpected timing. LoL
Just discovered your channel. Been enjoying your Starfield content! Looking forward to catching up with your latest episodes.
You make every game you play look so fucking fun.
Honestly? The beta patch that you're playing on makes this game look so appealing. If I ever do pick up this game, you can bet I'll be using your businessman/skyrim legendary/survival mode settings
Great stuff once again. Have started my own extreme play through since watching your series. With missile lock from enemies, do a quick BOOST to break their lock, you can 100% never get hit by their missiles with a quick 1 second boost when they missile lock you.
Woot
I love this patch!
When it comes to ship combat, you can definitely knock out systems without the targeting perk. All you need to do is hit the area of the system itself manually while not locked on, this can be extremely difficult but if you have the right weaponry and a decently fast ship you can for the most part keep yourself parked facing the system points and take them out.
Big fan of your videos. Always have been. As for the engine damage. You have to aim at their engines. Which usually means only attacking from behind without targeting. Also without targeting it will almost always prioritize the grav drive first.
When you do so well you have to make sure the games difficulty didnt lower
🔥
I thought all you had to do was shoot the actual engines, which is best done from behind them, with missiles.
Yay
from what i see, the hostiles mostly stand there while you shoot them; by extreme they must mean extremely easy.
Damn Slack i like how you treat Vasco xD
Combat, with the damage increase for enemies and decreased damage for the player is brutal. You, boss, have lost it again :D
Sweeeeeeeet!
Sneaky, sneaky…
Doesn’t the white hidden bar need to be fully white for it to count? I watched your video spot several times and that was what it seemed to matter
Nope. I just tested this many times on a side mission and you can definitely get a sneak attack while in Caution mode (orange). You don't need to be Hidden. I'll prove this conclusively in part 8.
Good stuff Slack!
yay uff yay
You have to manually aim at the engines and fire, that mean with no aim assist, this way you can destroy the enemy engines and dock without that perk.
Hell Yes! 👍👍
Straight up the worst type of robot cruelty I have ever seen
Not in my opinion. I liken it to smacking the side of an old TV trying to get better reception. 😀
Better watch out. You may now be on the watch list of the SPCR(society for the prevention of cruelty to robots.
To take out a engine when you have no points in targeting you have to manually target the engines..you do this by coming out of soft lock..if you notice you're soft locked onto the ships Hull even tho you have no targeting points..to come out of soft lock on xbox you press b..I'm not sure what the key is on pc .
Saw on another playthru that the sneak bonus is on food but is listed under drink
Hey Slack, with regards to boarding, if you disable the engines, which seems to be random, they will be displayed on the health bar of the enemy vessel. You can then board. I have just done this on the third Crimson ship. The first two I didn't disable the engine so couldn't board. Hope that helps! Dealing with the captain when the grav drive is out too? Little above my paygrade at this point 🙂
"if you disable the engines, which seems to be random, they will be displayed on the health bar of the enemy vessel..."
Yeah, that's the conclusion I came to as well. Typically, you disable the enemy ship's grav drive.
@@MajorSlackAttack This appears to be true, there is a mod on Nexus that tweaks the random chance to disable the engines to 24% from the 3% that they found in the settings. (not advocating adding a mod, just thought I'd put it out there!)
woot!
If Vasco's speech pattern was faster I might not hate him as much. I would still have a problem with the way companions behave in general, but it would help.
edit: Definitely need some sort of command system for companions.
Thumbs up
I think the stealth meter needs to be fully white for it to register as a sneak attack.
Nope. You can definitely get sneak attacks while in Caution mode. I just tested it many times. I'll prove it with video evidence in part 8.
@@MajorSlackAttack Cool - thanks for the clarification. Love your vids, keep it up! Glad your feeling better BTW.
@@JimHuber-lc5tm Reading around, I think it's the RNG element. I think completely white hidden indicator has the best RNG to trigger a sneak attack, especially early game with no skill modifiers.
The pip in grav drive after the power up tutorial is wasted since you are in the same system between vectera and kreet. Add to engine or weapon.
That was an oversight. I always pull everything out of the grav drive after the tutorial. Check videos from previous walkthroughs.

👍
It’s a lot easier to get ships with targeting but it is possible without, done it a few times by accident my self 😅
As a game mechanic guess, could it be that missiles have a slow track of an enemy ship and so will tail them and likely impact on the engines at the back of a ship? If there's enough damage, then the engines will be disabled...
I believe this is accurate. In an earlier patch damage was changed to 'nearest system' it said damage to you but i believe it works both ways. If shields are up system dmg is spread across ship. With shield down you can get behind them and hit engines usually.
Being totally honest, this extreme difficulty setting is simply not fun. Over a minute to destroy a level 1 ship. I'm all for a challenge but this is just too much.
Opinions vary.
You can tailor your experience. I made my own damage high as well as the enemies. At that point just like real life no more bullet sponges and any bullet means life or death. Both on foot and with ship combat.
I have a list of all 8 books for the Book lady in Akila city if anyone is interested. Looking forward to the what you bring us in the future.
If you are thinking of starting another game along with starfield, i would suggest cyberpunk 2.1 since it's like a brand new game with that update and your previous walkthrough has become redundant plus it hella fun!!
Wonder why u didnt take the poit out of grav and apply it to lasers or missile?
Oversight. I think I did actually but the game threw it back in and I was distracted by my commentary so I didn't notice. I always empty out the grav drive in any space combat scenario. Check this video from a previous walkthrough...

Are you going to go back to Borderlands in the future?
My guess is that would be a hard NO. Slack covered that in one of his videos, but I don't remember the details. Something about 2K Games not playing nice with content creators and hitting them with copyright strikes maybe?? Whatever it was, he said he was done playing all 2K Games products.
If you hate Vasco (or any other required companion) so much, just tell him to wait. Sure, he might follow when you go through a loading screen, but just have him wait, again. No more screwing up your stealth.
There is no Wait command for Vasco during the One Small Step mission. First thing I thought of way back when I first started playing the game. The best you can do is temporarily disable him using explosive containers.
Shame on those who liked your comment without checking the facts!
@@MajorSlackAttack Ah, I was unaware the option was unavailable this early in the walkthrough. My bad. I'm unable to play (and confirm/deny) such things as I don't have a gaming PC (and won't for probably 2 years more) at the moment. I have to enjoy games vicariously through kind players like MSA! :)
Well if you don't actually play Starfield, let me further inform you that the Wait command sucks. It doesn't work like it does in Skyrim. For the most part, you're tethered to your companion to within a certain range. Once you exceed that range, your companion runs to catch up.
Great work Slack
Shame!!!
sneak is broken, 34x damage, seems to happen if you are well feed...
Actually, after playing extensively on Extreme difficulty, I'd have to say 34x sneak damage is nowhere near broken. It's the bare minimum you need to survive.
@@MajorSlackAttack Hey Slack, test it out. Do a sneak attack while NOT fed and see if you receive any sneak bonus.
Then eat food and check for the 34x sneak bonus.
With the newest update vasco is up your ass at every turn
You can grab food and or drinks from vending machines
Cam you not tell vasco to wait and also take his weapons off him?
People think a game is trash if its not 60fps smh but play the game for the first time when it gets an 60fps update fake gamers 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂.
60 fps is the TARGET as well, not guaranteed, and only in 'Performance' graphics mode. This game takes a lot of horsepower. I'm running a 7800X3D and a 4070 Ti Super and getting 80-90 fps at 1440p in New Atlantis.
Totally agree with Slack on followers being useless and a major annoyance.
But really, at this point there is no justification for them being as annoying as they are. I conclude this because there are some follower examples (I'm thinking of a few in Skyrim), where they don't usually get in the way. Even these aren't perfect but they are better than most. And since it has been shown to be possible, Bethesda should work on making all followers less annoying and likely to get in the way.
One thing about Starfield... I must say the lock picking minigame is at least a little more interesting.
Hated Oblivion's lockpicking (Skeleton Key all the way!). Skyrim's lockpicking was less annoying but still not interesting and still an undesired hassle. But in Starfield, though I still dislike minigames, at least it is a little more interesting (and you don't have to do it too often).
I hate them all. Skyrim and Oblivion impose no requirements, everything can be picked at any skill level.
Starfield imposes perk requirements... but then still forces the player through a tedious minigame that drags down the entire experience and wastes time.
Locks in Bethesda games are so bad I simply do not touch locked containers/doors any more. The rewards are never worth the trouble. Time is always paused, so it's not like an 'easier' minigame helps perform under pressure. It's nothing more than a humiliation ritual. I will not touch locks in Bethesda games anymore. Easy lock in Skyrim/Obvlion? Nope. Keep your 8 gold septims. I got better things to do.
Just tell Vasco to stay with the ship instead of following you.
Just give people advice when you don't know what you're talking about. 😀
You DO realize that Vasco isn't dismissable at this point in the game? I guess you don't...
24:54 anyone else notice that this sneak attack did 34x damage?! 😮
That would make more sense I think but I just rewatched it and sure enough it said 34.0x, wild.
sneak is broken, 34x damage, seems to happen if you are well feed...
@@MrGazgoyle Gaz is here! I thought this might be related to the well fed bonus but definitely seems like a bug.
They need to update the eating and drink can thirst or starve to death, and not allow eating and drinking outside on inhospitable worlds.
Hard to watch with all the save scumming.
It’s not a brand new game. It’s the same recycled gameplay since morrowind.
I loved building ships in Morrowind so much! And man, you should've seen the amazing outposts I build in Morrowind!
Yes, you still run around, loot and shoot things. Crazy! What's next, you gonna tell me GTA 6 is gonna have driving and shooting again too? NOO... PLEEASE That's been the same since 1997 😭😭 What happened to games!
@@captain4318 Great response 😂 Cheers!
