To further back up the "This isn't a Block" argument, in Mario Maker, it's considered Ground, not a Block.

3:56 -- There are Parakoopas in this level's side area. You can grab a shell from one and use it to hit the block instead!

In 1-2, what if you brought a koopa shell to the end, hit the block containing the p-switch, brought it all the way back, and used the p-switch to get Yoshi off the block?

weirdly i just completed this game yesterday for the first time ever and I love it.
At 10:34, you can also beat it without yoshi by jumping on top of the key which you can stand on and press B and Y at the same time. do it correctly and you'll jump off of the key and still have the key in hand and you can make it to the key hole before you touch the next set of blocks.
I like these block challenges. I think Nathaniel Bandy did one in SMB3 but I would love to see more.

I can get behind the no block movement. But I think we are losing our morals by normalizing touching those nasty, ugly coins. At one point I saw 87 coins in the counter and had to fan myself in fear of fainting!

I personally don't think Yoshi and the Cape Feather should count when you destroyed or touched blocks using them. The Cape is away from your body when you spin to hit blocks and Yoshi is a separate entity,he's touching them,not Mario. All that said I really enjoyed the video and hope to see more in the future!

Here’s my top 5 reasons why Nico is NOT cringe and it’ no particular order
1: he is an epic gamer he beats video games in super hard ways a cringe person can’t do that
2: he have tons of views on TH-cam regardless of likes or dislikes he still dose videos and never guives up a cringe person would guive up with too many dislikes
3: he does epic videos
He is always a great person to watch A cringe person cannot do videos as good and epic as those
4: he always listen to his fans when fans asks him to do some kind of video he dose that a cringe person would only do stuff using it’s own mind and wouldn’t listen
5: he is a good person he someone who is worthy of having a wife in the future he would never get that if he is cringe by looks

Technically YOU don't touch blocks when you get on yoshi. YOSHI touches the blocks. So yes, it IS possible to beat mario world without touching a single block.
Technically, your cape isn't you. So you can spin to hit blocks because you aren't hitting them, your cape is.
When you grab that Yoshi, you aren't touching the block. As long as you hold a direction, you'll avoid touching the block he's standing on.

For some of the blocks that you touched, it was only your cape touching them, not exactly you.
That made me think back to when Nico showed us how to defeat Bowser _without touching Bowser_ (using Super Mario Maker 2 items and power-ups).

@Nicobbq: in Donuts plain secret 1, if you go in the bonus room first you can get a koopa shell, to hit the ? mark containing the key, and since the p-switch would be activated, the key will fall throught the coins, there for the key will not remain on the block.
Technically Yoshi isn't YOU, so Yoshi can touch a block, but not you.

Technically if you got Yoshi he would touch the block not you so technically it is 100% possible to beat Super Mario World with Mario never touching a block.

You can use the p switch in 1-2 to turn that block into a coin. Yoshi will fall through onto the ground, and you can collect him without touching a block

(0:32) Actually, the mushroom is set to pop out when you walk by that bush, and is not related to the midpoint. In addition, if you touch the midpoint bar while small, you automatically become super, so you didn't have to play Yoshi's Island 1 just to get that mushroom. (However, that mushroom could be put into your reserve item box if you're already big when you grab it, so it's not totally useless.)
(1:31) Aw, nuts. With the turn block bridges counting as blocks, it looks like Yoshi's Island 3 is totally impossible for this challenge.

(7:57) You don't have to actually physically touch Yoshi's block. Either clear the level first and then jump on Yoshi and start+select out before you land on the block itself (which requires good timing), or use the P-switch at the very end of the level to turn Yoshi's block into a coin. (To get the P-switch out of its turn block cage, bring a shell from earlier in the level to that spot.)
(8:51) Actually, the orb triggers the normal exit, and you need the secret exit from Star World 3 to proceed that way. (Also, the way you showed it there, you're walking on a bunch of blocks during the victory march, and I personally would count those. Furthermore, if you wanted Star World 3's normal exit with as few block touches as possible, just Yoshi jump at the start, steal Lakitu's cloud like before, and ride it to the goal.)
(9:42) Pfft... Got scrolled off the screen during the peace pose, instantly killing you.
(9:49) Also, these blocks are completely avoidable without the orb glitch, if you get a blue Yoshi from Star World 2, and then have him eat one of the many Koopas flying around the level to give him wings.

(10:11) Uh, oh... I don't think this is doable without hitting that ON/OFF block, so it's orb glitch time again.
(10:21) Wait, you jumped from a cement block to do the orb glitch there! However, I can see a way to do it without touching a block by spin jumping off of the rotating mace (or by cape flying), so I'll give that one a pass.
(11:00) You can also "key jump", by pressing the jump and grab buttons at the same time while standing on the key. This'll cause you to grab the key while jumping from where it was, without touching one of the blocks below it.
(11:48) Change that big red NO to a big green YES, because as I mentioned above, there are ways to get that Yoshi without touching his block.
(11:57) Also, with the angle you mounted Yoshi there, I wanna say you actually did avoid touching that block at all anyway!
