    Never knew that about fructose not replenishing glycogen post workout. Great stuff.

    • @AlteroCoach
      @AlteroCoach 7 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      He picked one study that didn't show the whole picture.
      Fuctose DOES restore glycogen but at slower rate than glucose.
      It was proven that the maximum speed of glycogen replenishment is reached by combining glucose and fructose comparing to consuming only glucose or only fructose. So simple table sugar is good for it. And in fruits there is always some glucose too. The ratio is different but for example bananas have twice more glucose than fructose. So his advise about avoiding fruits because of fructose is nonsense.

      My understanding is muscle doesn’t have the enzymes to convert fructose to muscle glycogen. Fruit will only recover liver glycogen post workiut

    Finally!!! Someone teaching what Vince Gironda said back in the fifties!!! Do not eat protein and starch or fruit carbs in the same meal as they both do not digest efficiently!! One is acid and one is alkaline....Since only having protein fats and veggies alone then a full carb/starch meal alone once every 3 days i have lots alot of bodyfat, built muscle and feel amazing all the time and never have bloating or gas!! I also do IF and keto!!

    Interesting video... The issue with all of this TH-cam diet and fitness stuff is there is so much conflicted information available. I just found a handful of videos that totally contradict basically everything this gentleman has said. There is even videos by a doctor that says pre and post-workout meals are a complete myth, and that your body will completely utilize any nutrients for glycogen replenishment and Muscle growth regardless of what it is you eat. So might take away from all of this is you have to experiment a little bit and find out what works the best for you as the individual athlete.

    In other videos you talk about working out fasted and this one you’re talking about pre-workout and post workout meal. What would be the reasoning for doing it one way versus the other

    • @kevindavis8227
      @kevindavis8227 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      My guess is workout while fasted while trying to lose weight and utilize the post meal suggestion to rebuild/protect muscle. Then once at your desired weight begin including the preworkout meal.

    • @erxfav3197
      @erxfav3197 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Seth Watson I think it really depends how you respond.. experiment and see what works best for you in your current state of health/metabolism..
      How long fasted also makes a difference..
      I find i sometimes get better hypertrophic fed... well fed..
      But better rep ranges fasted.. maybe 8-12 hours after last meal actually even longer sometimes...
      Also the last meal will dictate the quality of your workout.. if you didn’t have enough calories or a dedicated energy source etc

      Agree. I thought, as DL has stated in other videos, working out in a fasted state burns more fat and produces more GH?

    Hi Thomas, great videos, very informative. I am a fan of the carb-backloading principle, which says that it's nearly impossible that carbs are stored into fat cells after a hard workout because of the mTor receptor. As per your advice we should stay away from carbs port workout in order to not gain fat. Could you pls explain this? Thank you

    Do you think turmeric could decrease the body's response to a workout? For example, its been said to avoid Vit C post workout because antioxidants would blunt the effectiveness of the workout you just had. Workout causes stress and body adapts to it, but if you're blunting inflammation with turmeric...just wondering

    Hi, thanks for the video. I just wanted to ask, it's not easy at all to find grass-fed here in Norway, and even if you find it the prices are prohibitive. Would smoked salmon (raw) work too? It's very fat but it should also be rich in d-vitamin. I also take a d-vitamin supplement every morning, as there's not enough sunlight up here. If smoke salmon (or also mackerel in can at times) is ok, then what quantity am i looking at? Alternatively, is the d-vitamin in the eggs yolk too small to count?

    Pre-post workout is unnecessary. Nutrient absorption happens in the intestines MANY hours after you've eaten. Hit your macros/micros.

    he stopped just short of explaining what fructose does ultimately become....he just says it does not restore glycogen. so does it all just end up in the blood stream?

    • @AlteroCoach
      @AlteroCoach 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2
