because fan unboxing videos get super boring after the first few and some of us actually liked the funny stupid shit they did while reading out games and saying the weekly news. in this new format, they have to keep pulling shit out of their asses to try to be funny. they just been doing it for a really long time, so people are starting to get bored of it. i still enjoy it to some extent, but ahwu definitely used to be better than this

That's surprising to me. Have you watched any of the old ones recently? There were some good ones, but on an average week (especially as time went on) not much happened We all have varying preferences, of course, but it's hard for me to think of what you would've enjoyed that hasn't carried over to the new format. In my memory it had mostly turned into someone reading a list off of a printout.
Then again, I'm someone that really likes the revitalized AHWU, so it's possible we just like very different things about AH. I can see why they find the new format more useful, though, even aside from it getting more views now. Having time earmarked every week to interact with fans and read letters is probably massively useful for AH, and it makes fans happy to have the chance to see reactions to what they send in on camera. Plus, it's got a bit of built in inspiration for the segment, since they're essentially pulling random props out of boxes.
