The only leader to have won three consecutive assembly elections viz. 1977, 1980 and 1984 was one and only Puratchi Thalaivar , a feat which could not be achieved even by Perunthalaivr Kamarajar, Karunanithi and Jayalalitha. In fact Karunanithi could not win two consecutive assembly elections in his political career whereas Jayalalitha madam won consecutive assembly elections in 2011 and 2016.
