Matt while I wasn’t a fan of your tractor skills, this Queen Anne is priceless and shows what a “ true” woodworker creates. Your skills are unmatched here in your tube. Great, Great job !!
Wow. That is living the dream for me. Milling your own lumber from trees you cut down and turning those boards into stunning pieces like this. You certainly are loving my dream.
What an absolutely stunning piece! Really beautiful! And it's especially satisfying to know that you probably slabbed the boards yourself from a suburban tree removal somewhere, then from there to drying it and working the lumber down into its final dimensions, then into this amazing heirloom, like someone in the mid-18th century crafting in this style. Well done!
My word Matt...it's a thing of exuberant beauty. You're right up there mate with Mr. Maloof & Mr. Sellers. Let's call you guys the 'Untouchables' of the woodworking community.
first off this is the longest video I have ever watched, and i couldnt be more impressed man. Expertly done and incredible attention to detail. Awesome stuff bro
I'll be honest it's not the type of furniture that I would buy for my home - but man is it beautiful! The aesthetics - although not my favourite - are undeniable, your skills and attention to details are simply masterful. The matching of the wood grain throughout this project is probably my favourite part and I am smiling at the idea of how nice it will look after a few years of maturing. I hope these pieces remain in your family for generations - that would be the most fitting tribute to your work.
My grandmother collected Queen Anne furniture and had one just like this (but original). The craftsmanship in this piece is equal to anything she had! She would’ve loved your work!!!
So fine to see there remain cabinet makers amongst us still. I bet the piece builders of the 1700's would be SOOOO envious of our modern tools and shops. And to think you'd be right at home as a Master back then ;-) Sadly, not so many others of us could say that today. Magnificent work. And you've made your momma proud, as well. Goes to show ...
@@mcremona Your Welcome. Been binge watching your videos. Really appreciate all the hard work and then filming it all at the same time. Very impressive for a young man!
Hi Mat. From an also snowy Germany, many thanks for sharing these 30 minutes of the highest level of furniture carpentry. Ist's a real joy to see you creating things like this from slab. Your are our absolute favorit when it comes to Classic Furniture making. Have a nice weekend.
Upon unboxing, I was immediately upset at how the rails were very noticeably bent. But I kept going, all tools needed to assemble were included th-cam.com/users/postUgkxqtX4Dxs6aecAZEuz6GY5-d81YecKCshn and I had it set up in about 30 minutes. Honestly I love this thing, make sure to read the measurements and measure your space so you know if it'll work for you. I bought this to put inside my closet, underneath where I hang my clothes and it is absolutely perfect! It is VERY sturdy and all drawers glide easily and mine are stuffed, and they are still flush when closed.
I like the New Yankee Workshop esque intro and outtro. Absolutely amazing craftsmanship. The details like continuing the grain across drawer bottoms and even book matching the rear is next level.

froggleggers well, Trent Preszler makes canoes that take a year to build and he sells them for $100,000. I think this only took Matt 5 or 6 months so you should be able to get it for under $50,000 by that math!
froggleggers I mean, I was being funny I guess, but that canoe IS an actual example. I think this took Matt about 5 months to make. If he only worked 5 hours a day on weekdays only that would be 500 hours. I'm sure it was much more, but we'll play it conservative for easy calculation. It's highly skilled "labor" so I'd say it's easily worth $100 an hour. That's $50,000 right there, so it really isn't that out of line with what a reasonable cost may be if you were to have something like this custom built to order.

Saw that highboy in fine woodworking magazine years ago. Have been eager to build it ever since. I now have a subscription and can't wait for each new edition. Good job, great magazine!

My God man .... When did you start woodworking ... like when you were two years old ! Matt you do phenomenal work and there is only one way to describe this Queen Anne Highboy ... simply incredible ! How much does one of those sell for ! It has to be worth many thousands easily ! I can see why your mom is proud of you ... keep up the outstanding work and keep making video's ... I can watch you all day long. Next time I will get out the popcorn ! Love your work .... you sure know a lot for such a young man that's for sure ! :-) Dennis in western Canada
Incredible. Thank you for taking the time to edit down the many hours of Guild footage to give the rest of us some insight into the skill and effort required to make this amazing piece. You mother is right to be very proud of you!
Matt, I haven't been following you long enough to have seen this project of yours before now. I've got to say that I'm extremely impressed with your woodworking skills. Congratulations on having completed a wonderful and quite epic project. You have every right to be very proud of yourself. Super workmanship.
A person may understand there is value in knowing something is hand made but to see what actually goes into doing it doubles its value. I am truly in awe at watching this piece come together. I can honestly now appreciate what others can feel in fine music. Matt, if I could afford it I would commission a piece from you. Finding that which is within us and be able to express it so well is just beautiful. .................... In other words, Matt, ain't half bad!
That is quite possibly one of the most beautiful pieces I've ever seen made. This is at the top of the list for aspirational woodworking. The effort you put in for the molding miter matches at the top alone is pretty amazing. Well done!
Again Matt, I am astonished watching you craft this piece. Your craftsmanship is superb. Your finish is spot on. Again I am impressed by watching a Master at work. Thank you.
Were all ready to see more of your handmade furniture pieces ! Especially out of some of that Iowa Black Cherry you cut and slabbed into lumber . That wood will make SPECTACULAR FURNITURE !
Good afternoon Matthew from the UK. I know this is a long time after you put this feature onto You Tube but I just had to add a comment. Usually I watch all your log sawing activities and always enjoy them, and fascinated by the different grain patterns you achieve. However I have only just seen the feature of your work building the Queen Anne Highboy unit. Absolutely superb, I never thought of you as a woodworking craftsman but this work is outstanding. I always envy the wood which you Americans have available but in the final analysis it has to be 'worked' and you certainly have done that very well. Thank you for a most enjoyable feature.
Beautiful work!!! How can someone not like your work? #one PROUD mom

Thank you!!!
Matt, I haven't been following you long enough to have seen this project of yours before now. I've got to say that I'm extremely impressed with your woodworking skills. Congratulations on having completed a wonderful and quite epic project. You have every right to be very proud of yourself. Super workmanship.
Thanks Marty!
Matt that Queen Anne Highboy is a going to be a family heirloom, along with the desk. Man that's beautiful work
thank you so much!
Thank you so much, Larry!
That is quite possibly one of the most beautiful pieces I've ever seen made. This is at the top of the list for aspirational woodworking. The effort you put in for the molding miter matches at the top alone is pretty amazing. Well done!
Thanks Jason!
Man i love the sound these super-sharp chisels make, when they cut wood. Sounds like slurping an iced beverage to me. Awesome craftsmanship!
