Lovely vid. Thank You. Reminded me of many years ago in My youth on the Isle Donyatt.

Many thanks, the Taw is a lovely river even if the fishing can be tough. Hopefully next year will bring kinder conditions.

Hi Chris, that's a great video! Really beautiful spot. I'm quite local (Exeter) and I was wondering if you go fishing here often?

Hi James, in a normal year I make this my go to spot for evening fishing once the daylight hours warrant going after work. However the constant low water this season has made all the rivers in Devon tough going especially the clear moorland ones. I've had more success on the Yeo in Crediton in the evenings so far this year. The Crediton club does have a stretch opposite Burnaville nursery at Cowley Bridge?

Hi Roger, it was towards the end of June last year (2021), I've just been back last Friday and it played out just the same!

Could I ask why you have insulation foam round your fishing net? Is it to get the net to float or is it to give the fish some cushioning as they enter the net?

Hi Brian yes purely to make it float, makes it easy to leave the fish in the net to recover if you want to. Also stops the net sinking if it falls off while wading and catching on a root or something. You can also balance your rod and reel on it but I rarely do this as I have my belt rod holder.

A wee foam ant or beetle might have done the trick nice video👍

Hi James, thanks for the comment. Do you have any tying info re size/gape of hook for the beetle pattern? I do fish a small sinking beetle but for some reason forgot to try it on this particular evening ( heat of the moment I guess). I also carry a black deerhair beetle pattern but have never really done any good with it. I'm happy to give anything a try on those obstinate Taw trout!

Hi Chris, what real are you using?

      Hi Simon
The reel is a Scierra Traxion 1 3Four . I'm not sure if they make it anymore but the replacement appears to be the Traxion 1 LW. Looks like a nice reel and not badly priced. That said I have an old Rimfly mini that is still in perfect working order, this type of fishing doesn't really place high demands on your reel.
Many thanks for watching, more to come next season if I can remember how the editing programme works??
