When she was twelve, she found her mom in bed with someone else, drunk. When her dad found out, he was repulsed and left them both. Hazel always felt closer and more loved by her dad than she did her mom so the fact that she would never be seeing him again hurt her. She lost her best friend Paige because she clung way too hard to her and Paige ended up resenting having no freedom. Hazel's mother has and had a lot of boyfriends, most of them assholes. She only dated for money, never love and was never home because she was either staying with a boyfriend or working.
