My apologies for the dark take on the Mirotic MV, maybe I was reading too much into it and some stuff I saw online influenced my opinion of the concept of the MV, I did get to a more "normal" interpretation of the video towards the end of my reaction of that MV :)
Anyway, hope you enjoy it, and we did do a double take on the Rebel MV cause it was way too freakin' good to watch just once! Timestamps Included!

TVXQ has had some pretty serious incidents with obsessive fans, one where Yunho was seriously hurt, so I wouldn’t be surprised if the song could be applied to that type of fan.

Murotic will always be a kpop anthem. Mirotic was mega huge back then like ridiculously huge and make tvxq even bigger than they already is. I can't stop talking about tvxq cause they bring me into kpop in 2007 they really has it all. Visuals, vocals, stage presence, and more kinda sad the now days kpop fans didn't appreciate them and often bring them down cause their views aren't as much as their idols. Please do more tvxq reaction. Check their dingo please❤
The song you're thinking of is "Carol of the bells" the song is so iconic..if you watch them perform it in Killing Voice you'll see what a vocal workout this song is for Yunho..he goes from really low tones to really high tones...love how daring and provocative they sing this song..always dropping epic music..they're not called Legends and Emperors for no reason ✨️

When it comes to saesang fans or anti-fans going to the extremes, Yunho suffer from one of the, if not the, worst experiences / dangerous experiences ever, back in 2006 he was given super glue to drink at a fan meeting, due to being poisoned he was rushed to the hospital and after that every fan meeting conserning any idol not just TVXQ got way more security.
21:35 Yunho is dressed like Ezio of Assassin's Creed. It is related too with the idea of them being like in some modern spacey themed zone but then as if they "travelled" to other times, or dimensions, but in a way like the video game, connect3d to some machine? Much like Neo in Matrix (this has been referenced-used in many SM group videos like NCT, SuperM, Aespa and related to the lore). Assassin' Creed Ezio aesthetics and themes also appear in Kai's Mmh MV. You actually see him hooded-caped on top of a building in the corner watching the city, as Ezio does in the videogame, and Kai also is a time-dimension traveller!!!

TVXQ is one of those groups that is so iconic that you’ve probably heard several of their songs covered but didn’t know it was theirs. When you watch Killing Voice, you’ll probably be like, “Wait, that was *them*?” for 50% of it. 😂
for real, even if you don't know there's a k-pop song called "Hug" (which was literally released back in 2003 ffs🤣), but if you've ever been into k-pop, when you listen to it you just *know it* 😆👍

I am happy seeing more reactors reacting to second gen groups like TVXQ, Shinee, and others. Second gen was when I discovered k pop and Mirotic was one of my favorite songs played over and over. I was surprised to see they are still around and I get to hear their new music even though it not all 5, the 2 who are there make it seem like all 5 are there.

TVXQ!'s name in English means Rising Gods of the East, so they've used that concept over the years, even for song/album titles like Rise as God, the album they released right before they both enlisted together...
The orchestral parts of Rebel are from the Carol of the Bells, which their anniversary, & this album release, being the day after Christmas makes sense that they play around with that theme sometimes...
Mirotic is 1 of the most covered kpop songs ever, for both bgs & ggs, especially all newer SM groups have covered it at least once

Mirotic lyric was change for live tv performances, the under skin, was a sexual concept, yes, was changed for under the sky, respect to DBSK popularity in that era was scary they have a Record Guiness like the most photograhied group, and there was not social media, they was followed everywhere, people has not boundaries, Yunho was poisoned, Changmin was stalked amd even hit, Yuchun suffer invasion at his home, Jaejoong wake up whit a crazy person sleeping by his side, I dont remember if Junsu suffer any episode, sorry, in that era what they genrate can be compare with BSB, they was the kings of Asia and still they are. I hope someday that set mind that fans has about idols change for once, but I guess its a big problem in Kpop industry has even on Korean entertainment, we see victims all the time, I hope see the change someday.

Mirotic is the song that got me into kpop back in 2008! I was obsessed with it and it's still, to this day, one of my favorite songs. I love when reactors like you react to older kpop songs. The nostalgia always hits.

Mirotic's Korean title is 주문 which translates to Magic Spell.
And fun fact about this song, it's almost identical to Under My Skin by German singer Sarah Connor. The composers sold the coprights to both TVXQ and Sarah Connor at the same time. Which is why two nearly identical songs were released less than two months apart from completely different parts of the world. The Sarah Connor version was huge here in Germany so when I heard Mirotic for the first time, I was surprised at how familiar it felt immediately :D
About your darker interpretation of Mirotic: I had the VIP package at a recent Pixy concert and part of that was a group photo. I stood next to Dia and we had our little 20 sec interactions. Of course she was super nice and stunningly beautiful and I was absolutely floored by her but I would never interpret anything into it beyond "she's just doing her job as an idol"

Yess I love Tvxq they have done sm for kpop and are actual legends I reccomend bolero live & rising sun they have my favorite vocals out of all kpop groups
Sm shirtty company but it's the powerhouse of Vocals, I got to the kpop world with TVXQ so imagine my standards , everytime I can't but loving them and Exo the only boy groups that could satisfied me , they still standing after all thz drama they've been through, vocals, legendary, dance visual and great personality that's my standards
It's interesting that you mentioned Hitchcock. Changmin's Maniac MV is heavily inspired by Hitchcock movies.
I think that the incident with Changmin came years and years after "Mirotic" was released and happened after a taxi full of sasangs nearly caused a car accident trying to tale him. At least I think that is what was going on.
TVXQ actually has a song in the same album as Mirotic that really talks about sasaengs called "Wrong Number".

TVXQ's sasaengs were really something else at the time. The members had quite bad experiences on this matter.
The destiny is really great with TVXQ! We could get the evolution of Yunho and Changmin through the 20 years. They breaking their own records was incredible to witness their progress. The quality and balance that exists now in DBSK! Without words...
TVXQ AS 5 is the ONLY kpop group I know that started as ACAPELLA group.
Mirotic was the biggest song before the arrival of Gee from snsd..this was the first song that spread kpop into asia like never before...legendary song !
Mirotic, It is one of the best-known K-pop songs, but DBSK(TVXQ) is characterized by having good harmonization, so I recommend that you listen to LOVE IN THE ICE in concert , TONIGHT, and ANGEL with the Japanese singer Koda Kumi in concert, but I do recommend that you listen to the songs in concert, well I liked your reaction and I hope you investigate a little more about this group like 5, as well as duet and trio, because they are fantastic,😁😊

Every one has a cover of it and Max and Yunho still perform this as a duo, but THAT performance with all members is SUPER powerful, please check it out ❤ (it's the Japanese version tho as it was at the Tokyo Dome i believe, they're still incredibly popular and important in Japan actually)
