Yeah, Zeke is a legend. I made things difficult for him. I can’t eat gluten. I don’t know how he managed be he did. I ate well and survived the season without shitting myself. Zeke is a god in the kitchen.
Damn that is some good eating. They feed you that good? Oh there is top flight PhDs with you. And they make some scratch and won't eat biscuits and whale blubber. I was always wondering why the food is so good in Antarctica and other such places. But then I remembered there is all these top flight scientists there.
So THIS is that odd complex I found on google earth. It was a bit disconcerting finding a big structure in the middle of Greenland with absolutely nothing for miles around. Seriously, you are the only reason I found out what this place is because someone posted a photosphere around it. Thank you!
Oh wow, cool. Yeah, it’s a very long ways from everything. There’s a few stations like this out there in Antarctica as well such as WAIS Divide and Shackleton Field Camps.
Yep, I made it, and I got too impatient to wait to upload. I'll probably get scolded for overusing the internet. C130s are awesome except for the toilet...
Hey that's pretty awesome man! Sorry i haven't caught up with your channel in awhile. Glad to see you're in Iceland now! Love the small family. Keep us updated. Stay safe brother.
Hi, live this video. What an amazing place to visit, it's gorgeous. When you mentioned the mosquitoes being fierce it made me think of the best thin ever for treating them - Voltaren Emulgel. Most people know about it because they use it on sore knees and shoulders because it's an anti-inflammatory. Being an anti-inflammatory is what makes it great for bites, it's best if you can smear it on ASAP before the toxins make the bites too large and itchy. Usually it will stop the itching within 10-15 minutes. Awesome stuff.
To go to summit station you really need to either have a job there or be part of a scientific team with a project there. It’s not a place that accepts tourists or casual visitors. Access is by charted ski plane only which would require permission to use their runway and refueling from their aviation fuel supply.
Thanks! I had to hit wiki first to learn about Greenland. Interesting flag, population and part of the Kingdom of Denmark...who knew? Not me. Hope you're getting along safe and well 😎✌
Very nice. The shacks remind me of the CHUs I live in while in Iraq. Kind of jealous, not going to lie. Might have to look into IT positions for places like this.
CHUs are considerably nicer than the fish huts (I called them “fish shacks” and “ice shacks” in the video due to oxygen deprivation as I adjusted to the altitude). My room in the Caboose is almost on par with a CHU though the space is a bit smaller and we have to use outhouses dug into the ice which sucks every bit as bad as it sounds. This morning the wind was blowing up through the outhouse so when I tried to drop my toilet paper down it blew right back out.
I’m working here as an electrician. We flew on a US Air Guard LC130 because the NY Air Guard is used for support for the US Arctic Program (USAP) of which this little research station is a part.
Had Zeke at Willy this year he is a champ definitely takes the food up a notch ate my body weight in Willy Chili.

Zeke is such a gem. I miss his cooking around McMurdo. Will hopefully be enjoying it at summit again very soon

Thanks for the tip. I’d never heard of it before.
How can you get here?

What did you do in Greenland? Work wise? Why did you guys take what looks like an American military plane?

Food looks great just don't get eaten by the bears!
