I love how living in a cold place makes it impossible to take things too seriously for too long cause you're always just counting down to the next time someone slips and falls on their ass
Just found your channel a few days ago. Been going through it all right now. I did contract work in Iraq for 4 years (KBR), then moved to Ecuador for a year after that because I met a girl while on an RR going to Galapagos. I lived in Quito with her not far from the Olimpico football stadium and main mall. I even considered doing the Antarctica thing but I ultimately decided not to because it wouldn't qualify any tax deferment. Your videos are bringing back found memories of Ecuador and all the friends I still have there (last there in 2012). What is the name of the song you used in this video? I tried to Shazam it but it came back with no results.
Ha! It’s a song by the Dead South that I cut into little pieces, reversed, altered the speed, and rearranged into something new. If I remember right it was Banjo Odyssey, but I might have been one of their other songs. Yeah, working in Antarctica is more about the experience than the money.
@@FallofftheMap i worked with a guy in Mosul who did 4 years in Antarctic. He said he loved it and only took the job in Iraq because it was a lot more money etc but the stories he would tell about the parties there were legendary. He said he'd did the summer tour mostly but that was because his liver needed a break 😉
Yeah, I did a half winter/summer. My liver definitely needed a break by summer. The parties were epic. I have vague memories of a party the plumbers hosted that had a toilet wine fountain. I’m not sure, but I suspect that somebody roofied it.
The ice is so beautiful & splippery lol, awesome footage Jesse 😊 Stay warm my friend! Its been a pleasure watching you grow! 😎🚀 Enjoy your journey buddy, looking forward to more 🙂💯
I understand science building location but is there reasons why everything is so spread out ? Mechanical building, big house etc. would have thought everything would be built closer to minimize exposure and heat retention
Good question. There is a reason. The biggest challenge to maintaining locations such as this is snow drift. Each year the wind driven snow builds up around each building and dealing with it is a massive expense. A lot of thought goes into how to minimize this problem and one small part of the solution is spreading the buildings out.
@@FallofftheMap I asked my husband and he said it is the highest part of Greenland. He is in Thule. He runs the Vectrus operation there. I was up there and loved it.
I wounder if it causing coastal flooding 😳like here in houston and Galveston😁cool man you been to both south and north poles☺ havent seen you in a while 😄guess it kinda boring up there😊awesome vid laters😁

How far from Thule AB are you?
Far. I don’t know exactly but Summit Station/Camp is in central Greenland a little towards the south. It a high elevation site on top of the ice cap.

Great Vid ! Funky Musik Bro. How was the gig overall? Decent Money? Or just the adventure of it?
Thanks. Money was just ok, for a short job. Mostly it was for the adventure.
The background music was too loud and very annoying. Liked the video otherwise. Very informative.
Yeah, sometimes I really don’t get my audio levels right. Still learning as I go.
Loved the soundtrack. Creative use, all positives from me sir. Who was the artist?

Well, this year’s melt from Greenland alone added approximately 1mm to the flooding.
What is the percentage of m/f in Greenland and Antarctica?
