Though the size of the 1980 Marching 100 was not the size of Marching 100 of the mid to late 70’s you can still hear the power they put thru those horns ( Natural Born Smoke)!! Notice the tempo the band played and marched to FAMU Spirit right after that dance routine! Physical Conditioning no doubt about it! When I saw this show as a 12th grader in Jville, I made up in my mind that I HAD TO BE in this band come Hell or High Water!! We took this dance routine to New York Yankee Stadium my Freshman year 81 for Pre-Game... New York went crazy and Grambling’s Band knew they were in for a HARD DAY’S NIGHT!! Great memories, Keep em coming! Hubba!!
Yeah this band to this day is Epic…..that slo mo death March is classic and the drum major routine exhibit a style classic sharpness and precision untouchable. Still love to watch their entrances and exits. As an older person now you can see how young they really. We’re but looking and acting much older. This does prepare them for discipline and focus
We use go to all the FAMU games in the Gator Bowl in the '80s. I was probably at this game. Nothing was better than the the band at halftime. I heard some Kool and the Gang, Diana Ross, Larry Graham music in this show. The Marching 100 was holding it down!
I LOVED The 1980 Band..ESPECIALLY Florida Classic in TAMPA (SOS SHOW) The SOS Dance Routine Was My All Time Favorite To This Day! I Made The “100” Fall 1984 Dirty Dozen From MIAMI Only TWO Freshmen To Make it To Tampa!
Excellent show. First time band traveled that year. I was a freshman trying to make the Z....We practiced hard and had leaders who instilled discipline which carried over to the field. Did you hear the tempo going into concert band? Remember, this was only the 4th game of the season. ,CP bka "Tattoo" c/o 80
I remember hearing about this performance in hs. Good to see it now. I am longing to see the Egypt Egypt dance routine. My hs was the hs version of famu and that was the performance we did my freshman year in 85
That "Rattle" into concert formation was truly Epic back then. The speed, the intensity the showmanship!! What I grew up on when my father was in the band in the late 60's.
I love watching squad sectored bands! Most are sliding sectored nowadays. I like to watch them because the hs band I'm in is a squad sectored one! It's nice to see bands who also use those formations. Plus it helps me get an idea of how certain moves should look! Thank you for posting this : )
Wow! This really saddens me...so many of my fellow members who performed in that show has gone on to greater glory...it was one of my last performances with the 100...RIP band staff, members, frats, and friends. It was truly a heavenly performance! Cookieman 75!
Kamran Shabazz if you watch the TxSU halftime show from this year vs GSU you'll hear them playing a rattler cadence and fast marching at the beginning of their show. Often imitated, never duplicated.

Bro Hall as a kid I remember you marching and seeing you (Derek McClendon)
I used to go to Famu games only to watch the band…..when they were done……so was I. That was the highlight of my experience
Wow. This was my junior year. Also the very first time I've seen it. Those white wales are holding the bottom up. Hubba Doc!
This is the first time that I have seen this show. My sophomore year. Love it.
Did you know AJ Range? He played trombone
Hey freshman sister this is Brian Joyner
I'm a Marching "101" alumni, but M100 always gets my respect.
Im a Marching Wildcat ....But it was this band that inspired me to pick up a tuba....the Golden years 1980 to 1988
Should have auditioned for the 100

Ribault High School's very own! Clarence Pinkney the LEGENDARY Tatoo! Much love and respect, my brother!
That Marching 100 is something serious.
The hundred was so good in these days people would leave after half time.

More treats from the old school
I was in the clarinet section that year !!!
Classic Hunnit
i love the versatility in the drill music they back then, and that Rattler was much faster and cleaner .
It's the tempo in the Rattler folk need to pay attention to, the Z28 was on straight krypton night...
Wow!!!
A 1960 AND 1972 FAMU GRADUATE.

@@RizaldoMullings I understand.
All hbcu bands have ALWAYS stolen from the hundred. They try to be lokey about it.
