Hard to believe this was the 1st half time show. No over paid musician no flashy over the top background. Just talent from a generation that moved on to bigger and better things in their lives. Good job Arizona university.
This was actually Super Bowl III from 1969. I haven't found the Super Bowl II halftime show in its entirety on TH-cam as of yet (there is a short film featuring the band that played in that show), but the Super Bowl I halftime show is available, and IMHO it's just as good as this one.
Greetings Bro. Joe Sway, now you know you are hurting me bad Lol Lol, because you know I love to watch FAMU, that drum line and cadets is very very killing. Y'all was breathtaking. I watch them in TH-cam all the time. My favorite is the Cadens and the scramble Marching. I like the cymbals too, it was another instrument I would sometime switch off on drums to cymbal in my High School and College Marching Band.
Sad but true. I believe the main reason they went to concert-style halftime shows in the 1990's was because of low TV ratings during halftime. Re: my previous "jump the shark" comment---That expression commonly refers to a perceived decline in the overall quality of a show, but it originally referred to the use of a gimmick in an attempt to boost the ratings, and that is exactly what they did to the Super Bowl halftime show in the early 1990's, much to the chagrin of us die-hard fans of the old-school halftime shows.
I am watching in 2021. IMHO, the Super Bowl halftime show jumped the shark BIG TIME in the early 1990's. Give me these old-school halftime shows from the early Super Bowls ANY day!
this is the real marching 100!!!!! all you yougster trying to imitate you need to go back to the basic!! marching and percision. jimmie sweetnes smith 1976
@@dandresingleton6621 Some truly classic marches here, including "The National Emblem March" and "Under the Double Eagle" (performed as a medley here, at 2:28) and "The Stars and Stripes Forever at 7:45. Those are very well-known to fans of outdoor summer band concerts such as myself. A few patriotic songs were included in this show as well.
Love that sound of those old school drums.
RedClayDSGB Same todays snares sound like a counter top
To see this again after all these years is simply incredible. Thanks for posting!!!!
You're welcome!
See!! FAMU Marching 100 has been making moving figures long before Ohio State's band!
All Famu 100 are the Real Famu..lol We have good and bad years.
Now this is an actually good halftime show!
Give me this ANY day over wardrobe malfunctions and heavily tattooed bare chests.

Amazing the types of drill they were able to design before software had been invented.
Its true! Famu actually did march back in the day.. Nice drills, good famu-style driving down the field.
That DRILL was OFF the HOOK

I was at this Classic Game in 69, I attended every year.
I like this but I know today's generation would never be satisfied with a simple marching band performance in a Superbowl.

You can hear and see the strong influence from the Army ROTC program Drum and Bugal corp. Anyone from that era I would love to hear your input.

Super Bowl 3. Colts vs. Jets .I was there.
Wish I could've been there, but I was born in 2000.
I was 12. 😊
Would love to see a play or movie about this legendary marching band. Is there one? Seems so obvious.
Frankie Neal was trumpet section leader

They were trying to be patriotic at a difficult time in America. So FAMU put on a conservative show for the white fans.
...Was Here 4/20/2021
This is like 60s aint it?

None of that Justin Timberlake, Beyonce or Lady Gaga bs, this is a REAL halftime show!

@@dandresingleton6621 Exactly! Traditional American football entertainment!
