Oh Tina, don't be so hard on yourself! It always takes time to get to know a new horse and it's normal to feel overwhelmed, particularly when you've been riding one horse for such a long time. So long as you feel safe and enjoy riding him, nothing else matters. You are a wonderful owner and Enzo will have a fabulous life with you. Anything else you two achieve during your time together is a bonus! Having friends to help you along the way makes a big difference too. Know that we are all supporting you in your journey! So often we are our own worst critics! Keep going, keep positive and give yourself and Enzo the time to feel confident together xx ❤
A mirror can be a helpful way to reduce jealousy or anxiety in horses, especially if the jealous horse is feeling lonely or overly focused on the new one. It can distract them, give them a sense of companionship, and help calm them down. This is how we solved the problem, and it can be a temporary or even permanent solution for you. I don’t think you realise how competent you are, you are also such a great horse owner your horses are happy and healthy and. Well loved, have a bit more trust in yourself a baby horse v an older is going to be loads different but you have the ability to do it, your test results show that! Enzo is a really lovely horse. The only way to learn and gain experience, is to get out there and do it! You are doing exactly the right thing. If I could suggest re mounting......with out tack, lead him up as you doing, but work on him standing without the contact of the reins. He's anticipating you, and then you are having to hurry your actual mount. Still he's learning fast, and obviously a very intelligent chappy. Congratulations. A great start to your competitive life together. ❤

My horse acts the same way around me with other horses as banks with Enzo. It's pure jealousy🙈 he shares a field with a 4 year old ,he won't even let me pet the mare/share treats etc but once I'm not around they get on like a house on fire! Hopefully time will help 🤞❤ it just shows how strong your bond is! They're like toddlers having tantrums! X
My gelding has a horrible forelock and my mare hates standing still for forelock braiding so we just throw a bonnet on and call it a day 10/10 recommend 😅

Aww, Tina. You have always had the welfare of your horses first and foremost. It's human nature to second guess (okay, some more than others). But, to come away from not only two different BD tests, but getting yours and Enzo's first frlly. I can remember that struggles that Emily had with a younger Addie. And, correct me if I'm wrong, Emily, that you found help through Steve Young Horsemanship. Maybe he might have a way of mounting safely? Tina, don't change who you are or what you do, because we love you because of who you are. 😊

I'm on a new baby horse journey too (4 yr old racer) and I'm learning to not rush, take things at the horses pace and be kind to myself. Loving watching your journey....love the y food as well but the calories in it don't like me 😅😅😅
Well, whatever anyone else thinks, I think you did a very good job. First time out, with a young horse that is still pretty new to you, and you manage a second place? Respectable marks on both tests. I'd be more than happy with that! By the way, you are making me think about getting back in the saddle, which would probably be foolish considering how long it's been since I last rode, and the shape my body is currently in. LOL.

Aww, Tina. You have always had the welfare of your horses first and foremost. It's human nature to second guess (okay, some more than others). But, to come away from not only two different BD tests, but getting yours and Enzo's first frlly. I can remember that struggles that Emily had with a younger Addie. And, correct me if I'm wrong, Emily, that you found help through Steve Young Horsemanship. Maybe he might have a way of mounting safely? Tina, don't change who you are or what you do, because we love you because of who you are. 😊
Tina,, you are so kind, knowledgeable and a 1st class horse lady. We 'horse' people all have our 'own' journeys with our horses. You need to enjoy this journey and do it your way, there's no wrong or right, only educate (which u r doing). Carrot/treat stretches on the ground to help improve the stretchy walk… encourage the stretch down. Help him learn how far he really can stretch. 👍

I'm on a new baby horse journey too (4 yr old racer) and I'm learning to not rush, take things at the horses pace and be kind to myself. Loving watching your journey....love the y food as well but the calories in it don't like me 😅😅😅

I'd be more than happy with that! By the way, you are making me think about getting back in the saddle, which would probably be foolish considering how long it's been since I last rode, and the shape my body is currently in. LOL.
