    Our little Midwest city hasn’t been affected by the pandemic yet. Life is still very normal as we watch what feels like a cheesy summer catastrophe film unfolding before us on the news. I took the day off yesterday. My wife and I went shopping for the week and picking up a little extra to be prepared. We took the kids out to dinner and saw a movie. We went shopping at our favorite stores and hung out at Barnes and Noble , enjoyed the atmosphere and stocked up on books we’ve wanted to read. Wanted to make a fun memory and soak up normality before what seems like an inevitable lock down.
    Edit: In the last 12 hours everything has flipped upside down. Confirmed cases rolled in, events canceled, schools closed and stores are crazy...a little stunned.

      I live just north of Mexico, where antibiotics are over the counter. We get extreme “ super-flus” tans we have been in code red since January. Been in the hospital with pneumonia and my daughter has missed one half of school days. So before the pandemic, I see older people dying from infection when they go in for something relatively minor

      I live in Seattle, two blocks from the space needle. Only obvious change is less traffic and less people in restaurants. Everyones talking about it but the general consensus is it's overhyped and to wash your hands and not see grandma for a little while. There is still a hint of fear but people aren't prepping more than they do for our annual snowstorm. Hopefully in 3 months we look back and laugh.
      Edit: Because apparently people can't contextualize dates, this comment was made in early March. Everything I said was truthful at the time, no one had any idea this would blow up to what it has.

    This is touching. The way he sacrifices his safety over showing love to his daughter and hence allow them to enjoy each other as family, to allow each other to be human and to live, is just beautiful. This is what true love is. It is sacrifial. You lay down your own for the other.
    Also, I'm a medical student and I appreciate the message being spread on how devastating antibiotic resistance can be. I hope this encourages us to use antibiotics wisely.
    Just quick pointers on how to do thta:
    1. When prescribed an antibiotic course take it as prescribed and FINISH the course
    2. Do not share antibiotics
    3. Avoid taking antibiotics without a doctor prescribing them to you(e.g you have a cough and you take antibiotics without seeing a doctor. Most coughs do mot need antibiotics anyway as they are self resolving)
    4. Properly prescribe antibiotics, that is when indicated and avoid self prescribing (this one is for healthcare personnel).

      @@eltigre4419 U r right. But resistance's #1 cause is inadherence which means the patient does not take the pill like prescribed. For antibiotics specifically, it would be a patient not finishing his entire course treatment for the entire period prescribed bcz he/she feels better. So, most of the bacteria is diminished but not ALL the bacteria that is exposed to the antibiotic is eliminated and therefore, develop resistance. Drs usually prescribe according to guidelines supported by studies which is the right way of practice. But I will not deny the existence of some Drs who prescribe antibiotics as a safety measurement (cz they don't wanna take the risk of infection) even though the guidelines say that the antibiotics r not necessary in such situations. The thing w antibiotic resistance is when one doesn't work, they often resort to something more potent, but we potency comes more side effects which is what we r trying to avoid.

      Wow that a pretty extreme attitude. Some I'm sure are just ignorant(aren't educated about the facts concerning the term at hand) and here you come on your high horse and take away any aspect of having children and a life filled with the happiness family brings. Unnecessary? Do you know what is going on in Italy right now? The whole country is on lockdown, hospitals in the Lombardi region are at 200% capacity. They are not treating anything but CoronaVirus, no heart attacks, no babies being born, no car accidents, nothing but CoronaVirus. All beds are ICU beds, they are everywhere, in hallways, lobby, surgical suites, and they don't have enough beds. They are doing triage, carefully considering which CoronaVirus patients to take in, which ones are most likely to survive. We in the United States have about 9 days before we are in the spot Italy is in today. Unnecessary?Think again. If you think this is not coming, you will know in a couple or three days. This is actually a very real problem. We need more new, intuitive ways to get antibiotics, And we've been looking at mushrooms.

      Animal products are ridden with antibiotics. This is why when you get bigger things like cancer, most don't get better. Go vegan and your body repairs itself and immunity goes up by over 50%.

    • @MrNight-dg1ug
      @MrNight-dg1ug 4 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @@lfairy6130 Uhhh, no. How about you stop pushing your vegan agenda onto people? You don't get a better immune system by having less antibiotics - You get a worse one. The reason why antibiotics don't work, is because the viruses adapt to the antibiotics.
      We've been looking at getting other viruses to kill viruses and bacteria.

      Mr. Night no one is pushing their vegan “agenda”. they’re just providing valid reasons that you should go vegan, not that you have to. im not vegan myself but its a well-recognised problem that bacteria are becoming resistant to antibiotics because of the amount of antibiotics we pump into farm animals

    • @da4127
      @da4127 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Mr. Night farm animals are a major cause for superbugs and antibiotics kill bacteria not viruses.

      @@lfairy6130 I know a lot of you are giving Mr. Night grief for saying what he did. I am sorry but I have to agree with him. Grungery may not be pushing however you are saying that a Vegan person when they get sick they can recover better because their immune system is a lot better than ppl who eat animal products. That's a false statement. I am a breast cancer survivor, this will be my 4th year in remission. During my treatment, I met a lot of ppl and there were very healthy vegans and who followed holistic practice too. They got cancer and a couple sadly passed away? I know you will say maybe genetics played a part. Again I met those who did not have a family history. Grungey is basically saying go vegan and your body will be stronger to fight off diseases. Not true, I am not vegan and I beat it, Are you going to say I am an anomaly? Beating cancer has a lot to do with what type and stage and grade.
