    Brother Frank pointed out the thickness of the Buddha mold used as an example in this video. Although the small Buddha mold in this video has around 30 layers, I wouldn't necessarily go up to 30 layers on a mold so small and would usually go up to around 30 layers with molds exceeding sizes of around a foot in size. The Buddha mold in the video is just an example of thickness and I should have explained in video perhaps. With very small molds like the Buddha mold shown in the video, I would probably apply around 10-15 layers with a mother mold, although applying 30 layers would mean not needing a mother mold, so there's a few 'swings and roundabouts' to consider and lots of ways to do the same thing. Just subscribed! Love your videos. And now I have a question... when do you, if at all, use a thicknesser please?

    Hi there, could you do a large sculpture with a latex seam and fibreglass mother mould? That would be a helpful tutorial... the concrete artisan does it with magazine paper but never really shows in detail

    How long do you wait after your last layer before unmolding the original?

    • @dramamask
      @dramamask  ปีที่แล้ว

      Usually wait for 28 days or a month before removing the full mould/mold.

    Do you have to clean the brush between coats or you can just leave it in the latex container? And how do you clean it - with water?

    • @stefanj.593
      @stefanj.593 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Leave the brush in a glass of water with a drop of washing-up liquid. Cold water, not warm. Very important. Just wipe off excess water before painting, but do not wipe the brush dry.

      I'm usually quite lazy with these kind of things and just leave the brush in the container containing the liquid latex. I cover the container with the brush at night and just keep on going. I'll change the brush when it starts to get clogged, etc, which might be every 10-15 layers. :)

      @@dramamask I'm lazy too so this advice will come very handy ;) Thanks

    Hello, thank you very much. I stupidly have colored latex because my model is white. The light fresh layer dries within 30 min and becomes darker. But I do not know if somewhere underneath are still spots a little thicker that have not yet dried. Is that bad?

    • @dramamask
      @dramamask  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It'll be the same process regardless of the colour. If you're not too sure, just test out on a piece of card, paper, or something to get to know how your latex behaves. :)

    After the second layer of latex I put toilet paper in between layers and a balled up piece to avoid use for vacant areas
