      @@bikersedge everyone always focuses on how well HP bikes descend. Any insight into how they climb really rocky technical sections? Terrain i ride is ultra techy going up and down. No gravel road climbs for me. Some sections trying to climb up some people would only want to descend on. Lol. On the hunt for a bike that can do both well.

    Something is going with Maxxis tires this year, they are not holding up at all. I’ve been left walking several times with sidewall tears and a center tire puncture with no obvious sharp rocks. I switched to MTB tough casing to hopefully that save a few bucks and get off the Maxxis $100 a month plan

      this is the first time I've had too big of an issue with flats. I've had 3 flats now across a few different brands on this bike. I think its the speed and the monster truck-ability.

    I keep hearing things like it's a tank, bottomless, Monster truck, it doesn't care what you point it at. People talk about it like it's a downhill bike so what I want to know is how does it compare to a downhill bike.
    Does the new design; high pivot long wheel base slack frontend and all that make it comparable to an older dh bike like the aurum A1 or is it just a beefy enduro

    • @bikersedge
      @bikersedge  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would also like to know that. To be honest I’ve spent very little time on a proper DH bike so I can’t really make that comparison. I can tell you it feels different than any other enduro bike I’ve ridden.

    Thank you for the review, Im really sold on this bike. Im about to order a custom range in my local bike shop but I just cant decide if I should take L or XL. I watched your video on bike sizing but I still couldnt decide yet. im around 6"0 or 184cm and I like fast rough trails most but will ride a vast variety of terrain and trails. Unfortunatly I will not be able to ride both bikes on trails. maybe I can sit on it in the bike shop but thats all. Do you have any recommendation for my case? the huge weelbase on the XL is really a concern for me.

    • @bikersedge
      @bikersedge  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I make a rule to not give out specific bike size advice over the internet. It’s a crapshoot without seeing you on the bike. I’ll refer you back to the size video to see the pros and cons of each size. I’m 6’2” and found the XL to be the right size.

    • @paulkahlke2291
      @paulkahlke2291 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm the exact same height as you. I find the reach on the L good. Feels a little short when peddling but just right when descending. The XL is adds around 30mm I think so would be kind of ridiculous except for huge people. The XL also comes with a really heavy spring so you may have to swap that out if you aren't a large guy.

    • @maffin2917
      @maffin2917 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bikersedge Thank you for the answer. Did you had the chance to ride the Range long enough to find out if it was the weelbase that was affecting the cornering or the faster incoming speed? Do you know if its possible to install reach adjust headsets?

    • @maffin2917
      @maffin2917 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@paulkahlke2291 Honestly Im already riding a Pole Taival with 510 reach, it is long but it also gives me a lot of space to shift weight. unfortunatly due to this radical geometry the range adds 34mm to the weelbase with the same reach, even more on SAG. that is really concerning me. basically A range with 480mm Reach on SAG is as long as my hardtail with 510mm reach. and that bike already feels big in corners.

    • @bikersedge
      @bikersedge  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@maffin2917 I think the cornering is a combo of multiple factors. The speed, the long bike and the high pivot. I’ve adjusted a bit, but it’s still not the best bike for tight corners.

      Here in europe the frame is 3800€ and the Gx build is 7500€, so Norco is basically charging 3700€ for the components. I figured out that it would be cheaper to buy the frame and build up the bike by myself with the components I like instead of going for the C2 build and thats what im going to do together with my local Norco Dealer.
