I heard a sayings awhile ago that helped me get past creative road-blocks. It's "better done than perfect". No one could have accomplished all this artwork if they were hung-up on making everything "perfect".
That describes my path. I've avoided art because of mediocre drawing skills. (Bad handwriting, not good at coloring books.) Woodworking taught me to not worry about perfection. An item leaves my bench "perfect" and is scratched, dented, and stained up inside a week. Many on purpose! My time is better spent telling a story, than obsession on an irrelevance.
Thank you for this wonderful video. Edgar Miller's work is astonishing. I'm so glad we got a peek into this gorgeous home so we could appreciate the scope of his talents.
I lived with my partner and now my husband at 155 Burton, where your uncle Mark was our landlord...when he sold the unit as condos we moved to 1734 Wells and were lucky enough to experience yet another beautiful space Edgar Miller created...He was THE RENAISSANCE Architect, Designer and Artist who made EACH AND EVERY space he touched a work of living art where lucky people have been able to see, live, discover, dust, vacuum, and MOSTLY ENJOY living each and every moment within these incredible spaces, including the courtyards which are their own discovery and delight. LOVE EDGAR...I FEEL SO FORTUNATE to have lived in two of his beautiful creations in Old Town in Chicago Illinois.
There is no richer environment than living in your imagination, making your dreams come true. Quite literally here... just outstanding. Thank you for this...❤️🏠
That's amazing! That man's mind must've worked on another level! I have plenty of inspiration, it's all around us, but having the talent to execute the inspiration is something else, entirely.
So is there More than one house 🏠 that he designed interiors for..???If so are they All in Chicago .???😊.. Just checked him out ....He wants very prolific ..... ALL thru his early 90 s until he passed away from a Fall.......Is there a book on his works??????

What if we all lovingly decorated each other's homes and our own? We could live in cottage palaces!
But...he had other carvers, sculptors, artisans who would help him on the Studios...including his sister!
Please talk about them!
