East Germany's Hidden Paradise | Hiking in Thale's Harz Mountains Germany

Thale is Germany's nature lovers paradise. Located on the edges of the fairytale Harz Mountains, where the Bode emerges from the mountains. In this gorge, the wild and romantic Bodetal, exciting myths and legends, fairytale forests, babbling brooks and raging rivers, fascinating rock formations and fantastic views await the visitor.
During the German Democratic Republic (DDR), Thale was a Bordertown on the East Germany side. Today, in addition to having some of the best hiking in Germany, Thale is also home to thermal baths, along with the DDR Museum, which offers an insight into how life used to be before the Berlin Wall fell.
