That comment at the 4:24 mark, "we've got a wing hanging back", has been cited on another YT video as a cause of a crash. I think the wing sweep is much faster than the full-size bird. Maybe a delay on the sweep would allow less chance of them sweeping asymmetrically. Let's see what MRC/Freewing say about it.
There are lots of people that asked to see this. Looks like it did really well too! This is much better than I actually expected it to do! It looks like the plane is much stronger!! Can not wait to get mine and add the Gooniac touch! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Man. I’m very impressed with what I’m seeing. That gear is very robust. Great job Rich and Wesley. Can’t hardly wait to check out the new field in person. 👊👍👍😉
Rich, sounds like Freewing/MRC made some of the mods you suggested on the dual 80mm F-14, especially the wing sweep plate extension aft. Great news! Great flying!
Yes! Thanks for noticing:) I had suggested in my upgrade video to not only extend the plates AFT, but also make the plastic gear mount much longer from front to back. Since I was unable to do anything about the plastic mount, I had to make my aluminum plate much longer than preffered and extend it backward farther. Clearly, the combination of the two makes it super strong. This new plane was my vision of the design realized:)
Once we level & grade the field here, it will be nice and smooth here with much smoother grass.... for now, it's rough & good for testing planes on rough terrain. Its the worst of the worst right now but flyable here. You will not have any problems on a smooth grass surface:)
great video, I want to use a spektrum 10 channels as3x/ safe rx, Iwas wondering if I can still use the stock board just for the gears and the wing sweep? and ail/ele/rud stabilized on my spektrum rx?
Just got back into the hobby after 10 years away and started with a Freewing Avanti. I always get compliments on it at the club, and I have to say Freewing and Flightline (also got the Corsair Birdcage in box yet to fly) blow away Eflite/Horizon (who have gone way downhill, I had a heli from them with a binding tail servo which overheated and failed in flight, and ironically I have the 2M Draco and luckily before I flew I checked the linkage on the elevator and it bound so bad the servo could not center, would most certainly have caused a crash!). Motion and Freewing will certainly be my go to for awesome foamies, this F14 is on my shortlist for next plane!
Well that was by far the best test ive seen of a new freewing plane, just what everyone wants to see, test the airframe on grass, takeoff and landings, absolutely brilliant job well done guys, surely the best ad for ordering one of these! A little more info on the stabilising system would be good, can I fly this on 7channel? Thanks
Usually, about mid-April, our field smoothes out and our grass runway is kept short. But we usually fly 80 or 90mm and at 8s because of our grass field.
This is what I was waiting on. Our field is about as ruddy and patchy as your field at this time of year here in (knoxville). I was worried about the power and size of wheels off of grass. My only question is, when taking off do you have it at high rates with full or half flaps.
Are there any cracks in the wing sweep compartment? I remember on the 80mm version the wing sweep area would get broken up easily on landing on grass runways unless you had the aluminum plate mod installed onto it.
The compartment was fine. This version already has upgraded aluminum platters similar to the platters I designed. They probably borrowed from my design a bit & extended the aluminum back to fully support the retract unit. The plastic gear mount was also made longer & the combination of two upgrades make this stock gear setup ultra strong.
Nice video! I love to see your perfomance. However, I see that you didn't do many skills like loops, rolling in a row, etc. in this time compared to other planes you've covered. Does this mean this plane is not suitable to perform many manoeuvres and special skills? Thanks for your insight
Probably never, wings sweep based on altitude(pressure) & airspeed. We don't fly that high or fast. The speed sensing air data equipment to adjust the sweep would probably be to expensive to be worth it.
Love Rich Baker....Motion RC? Not so much. I've been subbing to this channel before Motion RC even existed. Please keep doong reviews from multiple vendors. This is the only way to keep (or make) them honest.
I've said some "constructive criticism" comments on HobbyKing and Banana Hobby no problem. I've spent a lot of money on those controversial companies. They've handled all my complaints to my complete satisfaction. Any minor gripe about Motion? BANNED. Even the Chinese Communist Party is more tolerant to criticism then Wesley and Motion RC.

Rich, you always make it fly well. Good jet, I need this in my hanger.

@@RCINFORMER Excellent work. Thanks!
Excellent review. They are definitely making more grass able planes. Team RC InfoBoozer has the best toys!
Great motion Im getting three of them love love the tomcat
Thanks for using my links to get one:)
I feel much better about our grass field after seeing this. Takes a lot of the nerves out because ours is much smoother

Nice flying as always Rich!!

Wonderful, exactly what I wanted to see. Ordered it anyway
Oh yeah going to love it.
Thanks to Wes for allowing this video to happen. Unfortunately they are now sold out lol I will eventually have one.
Yes! Finally the test i wanted to see
Looks great Rich!
Woooww I want one that's for sure! Very nice video thank you!
Be cool to see it do a wings swept hi-alpha landing.
Wesley did that & will post in a future video:)

This easily got off the ground with a 6s 5000 Admiral pack!
Very cool plane
Awesome performance !! i'd love to see Freewing upgrades it's 80mm version to the same spec's as this one
Does it have full span flaps like the full size?
No, however, you can program full span flaps if you have enough channels.
wow in such a little plane swing wing helps for grass take-off?
Hi , Any chance of a freewing f14 64mm review?

I was using takeoff flaps & it got off the ground easily. Some of the touch & goes were with full landing flaps, and it took of easily as well!

Do you know how effective the reverse thrust is compared to the mirage c2000 v2? Or more like the 70mm f16?
No Idea:(
@@RCINFORMER oke well thank you for replying anyway 👍
He’s not afraid to put it through the test. 😅
Yea, like Wesley always says, it's a rental:)

With the included gyro would it be possible to program a Spektrum receiver into this to have safe? Are we able to program safe without AS3X on?
How long will it take before a flight controller can automatically sweep the wings according to changing conditions like the full size?
Probably never, wings sweep based on altitude(pressure) & airspeed. We don't fly that high or fast. The speed sensing air data equipment to adjust the sweep would probably be to expensive to be worth it.
RICH Ruling!
How about we try a wing sweep? 😉
We did.

Have we met?

Before you buy this 14 see all the video's
Alright, I think my field is a little smoother than that so I should be good.
I think the surface of the moon is smoother than this haha

The F-14 is not a trainer. Where's the WSO in the back seat?
He may have bailed after those landings.
The runway really isn't much smoother than the grass.
True. However, it's just a test runway to evaluate the runway & glue joints vs. the elements & time.
People make/sell/fly "German" planes. Anybody have the cajones to make an Iranian F-14 scheme?
Possibly someone in Iran?
I just love the way you fly man! I fly the same lol fast and hard! 🫡🤝 nice job dude can’t wait to fly mine
Thanks for watching Hamilton!
@@RCINFORMER I’ve always looked up to you! No need to thank me man, THANK YOU!
