I remember this when it happened so vividly. I went to school with Damani Garner, one of the 2 young boys murdered. I still remember sitting in my homeroom class on the first day of my 7th-grade year, and hearing the principal tell us that our schoolmate had been killed over the summer. Damani lived in Pittsburg CA, but went to visit his Grandmother in Los Angeles over the summer, I can still remember him and his big ol' glasses, he was a very nice kid who was always fun to be around...so sad.

I used to live in Pittsburg CA as well even though it was only for a few yrs it's next to Antioch. We moved there from San Jose in 1979 but l left in 1980 to join the Air Force. I definetly do remember Kermit Alexander but l knew him as a football player with the Niners and Rams. Such a sad story

Just goes to show..... if you see a young brotha in distress on the wrong path; lift him up.
If you see a young brotha in public; say hello it can brighten their day and they can open up.

Kermit has blessed his family more times over than anyone can imagine. He has been an excellent father, husband, brother, cousin, and friend. My kids know him as Uncle Kermit, even though he is my cousin. I love him, and Tami for everything they have done to right the wrongs and injustices in this world. I remember the murders Kermits sister and I were only 5 years old when it happened. I remember it being all over the news and radio, and I remember walking through the house and finding Kermits father, at his desk holding his head and quietly sobbing uncontrollably. It has haunted all of our lives, and the murderers have never gotten what they deserved, including the night club owner. I pray that God's vengeance and the family's justice happens before we all leave this world. I appreciate everyone's prayers and thoughts if you ever get the chance to meet Kermit and his family, you would know first hand that he is a beautiful person, full of love, that has held the responsibility of the world on his shoulders for most of his life, and still provides love, compassion and empathy to those in need.

However, SOME Black folks are almost too far gone to help. They've had such horrific childhoods! I live in a half-way decent area of D.C. but work in what's left of the hood. There were many riots in the 60s. And still LOTS of shootings and drugs. It makes me very sad to see fellow Black folks end up as killers, and drug addicts. The project stalled. Then Kermit’s wife (who holds the rights because Kermit has dementia) decided to go with a different production team. I remain very sad to have lost my chance to tell this story. If I am given another shot, I would do this story justice. It’s an important story and needs to be told.

Everybody took a loss on that bad day, including LiL Fee.
God 🙏🏽 Bless Kermit Washington and his family. I never knew what became of him, even though I’ve heard the story all of my life. I’m glad he found himself again.

I remember this, I was a student at Crenshaw High School. The Rolling Sixties Crips would hang out on Brynhurst. Bad Street Too! So Sad 😞 😥

    Whew! What an amazing story!
Mr. Alexander is an amazing human being on so many obvious levels that don't really need explaining.

I definitely remember this story. It was the saddest during that time. To hear his family died over the wrong address made it worse. I was about 21 at that time. I'm glad Mr. Alexander was able to get his life back and not allow the grief to destroy him. Oh and I believe Law and Order had an episode similar to this story.
