- I have had struggles with UV resin .. some make it look very easy. I know that they have had much more time and effort in working with it and seeing what works. Most of those videos don't show that process. I wanted to share what I have learned and how I got there. Enjoy!
DecorRom UV Resin: www.amazon.com...
LKE Sun X7 nail art lamp: I was not able to find the exact model I have however here is a link to one very similar by the same company: www.amazon.com...
I use Uv resin in 90% of my jewelry projects.
I have a piece of foil under an acrylic block where I place my projects to cure under the light.
I use a very good Uv resin. Let’s resin is the brand
When using inks make sure they are for use with Uv resin
Do your work in layers not all in mold at once. At least 3 to 4 layers
If putting embeds in your piece. Have a cured thin layer first. Put a very thin layer of resin then dip your embed into some resin and place in your piece on top if the wet layer of resin. Get it moved around to where you want it. Always wait 5 minutes before curing any layers to let the Uv resin settle before curing. Then cure. Continue adding layers and good luck!❤
Your comment should be pinned at the top since all your information is correct & should be followed.. Thanks for taking the time to educate, It's what I was going to write, but you beat me to it! Have Fun With Your Projects Everyone!
Thank you for the information. I also have the blue bottle UV resin and have been having the same problems with stickiness. Good to know it's not my "technique." :)
That’s too cute… love how you tried to hide the label! I recognized the “blue” bottle that’s sticky because I bought the same one and couldn’t figure out what I did wrong… had it under the sun for a day, sticky, bought a 36 W light, sticky… pretty sure it was just the brand… I had tried the Japanese brand ones the year before and loved them, 2 hours under the sun and it was good to go
Thank you for watching and I totally get it !!!
I also recognized the "mystery" bottle because I had a poor experience with it as well.
@@jlowe8614 Good to know that it wasnt just me !!
I would like to know what this bad resin is so I don't buy it!
@@2ndChanceCrafting Its Blue Moon Resin .. I got it at Michaels :)
Thanks for sharing this! I have another brand of UV Resin, not in a blue bottle, but it also is very sticky right after coming from under the UV lamp. Very annoying!
Will try to switch to the brand that you mentioned.
It is annoying, put in all the work to end up with sticky ..
You need a light with 395nm. Nail lamps aren't strong enough because they're intended for nails
@@wileycovington4497 thanks for the tip. Will look into those lamps.
@@wileycovington4497 I have an 86W/ 395nm & the resin I have no color added is sticky after 6 minutes.
@@nanowomansk maybe your resin is a bad batch.🤷♀️
Hi there, thank you so much for your video. I haven't finished watching all of it yet, but will do. I watched another resin artist, he mentioned that air can interfere with the curing and that he best way to cure uv resin is to put the sticky resin in water and finish curing. It made sense the way he explained it. I don't remember his name, but I am subscribed to his channel if you are interested? Just let me know and I can leave a link. ❤

Thank you for your information ... that is great news and just recently I heard about something that sounds very similar. The more we learn the better our crafts will be !!! Thank you for watching my video! :)
Oxygen, fans, etc., affect the surface of the molecules to bond more than the ones in the middle that bond with their neighbors. This was in a Daniel Cooper experiment.
If you place them in water and use the UV light through the water, it hardens... this also works with sticky epoxy as well.
Beautiful work and great job on your video. Can I ask you what editing program you used? I make Joey but I have never put a video that was edited on Facebook or TH-cam or anything. I'm not exactly computer literate. On top of that, I am using the camera from my phone
Hi ! and thank you !! I use clipchamp. It can take a bit of getting used to but it is free :) I use the camera from my phone as well . That can also be a challenge.
The clearer mold allows more uv light through it and really dark colors may need to be layered -- cured and another layer added and cured again. I think it has a lot to do with the resin, also Add 60 seconds instead of 30 seconds so it is 4 minutes (?). Maybe some alcohol react with some resins.
I would agree with you on the inks, when I used UV coloring with epoxy resin and it had a tackiness to it.
I’m new to resin and figured out, with the resin I bought, it will be very sticky if the layer is too thin (under 2mm).
It says right on the bottle it needs to be 2mm or more or there won’t be enough curing agent in it for it to cure.
Ah .. that is great to know! Thank you ! :)
I mean, if you look at the thickness at 12:15 when she is holding it, i would assume she did at least 2mm
Thankyou for the video, I just started using UV resin and I'm not that happy with it, mine came out cloudy with marks on the side and I can't figure out if it is the mould or my uv light isn't warm enough as mine are not hot when I take them out. I ended up putting a few of mine out in the sun to finish curing as they were sticky too.
My UV resin never gets warm no matter how long it’s under the lamp. Is it supposed to? Wondering if that’s why mine is sticky… maybe my lamp isn’t good enough?
It could be the resin or the lamp or both. I have a second video that I put out as a follow up to this first one that may help with some of your questions. :) It is hard to tell sometimes without alot of experimentation .
i am having sticky problems i have rub alcohol on my pieces i got my resin with my kit
Some are curing on a mirror. They say it helps. I have not tried it since I quit using IV resin because of stickiness. I may try this resin. I heard lets resin resin says it takes up to 20 minutes for curing! Read your resin before you buy it. Just things I have heard.
Hi Pam .. thank you for that .. I may try putting my lets resin in the sun and see if that works . Hope you give the resin a try .. it is fun if it works :)
You really shouldn't mess with resin without gloves on. It will burn your skin, I found out the hard way. The fumes can cause serious lung issues as well so you should be wearing a respirator. It's extremely dangerous to get into your eyes so safety glasses are also important. You think, "how would I get it in my eye?" You until it happens.
Try s mirror under the mold ☺️
Oh . never thought of that !, Great idea !
Could you tell us what the name of the Pink drop resin is called, I can't find it on ebay or amazon?
it is by DecoRom here is the link .. please let me know if that helps !! :) www.amazon.com/dp/B07DL1TNZ9?ref=nb_sb_ss_w_as-ypp-rep_ypp_rep_k3_1_9&&crid=3PKBEGU6I1LJF&&sprefix=decorrom+
I know which UV resin that is. I know because it's the one I have. So pricey for it, and I'm having the same problem.
I am sorry to hear that .. it is definitely problematic. Too bad because it is accessible .. however too costly to bring home to use only to find it doesnt work :(
Too much talking
