    I carry my luxury handbags daily. I love them. They make me feel confident. Others may say/think that’s a waste of money but they bring me JOY and that’s important. I have ALWAYS been a handbag girl. They have ALWAYS brought me joy. It is important to note my families needs and wants are met before my purchases, and similar to you, I do add very slowly to my collection so the process of acquiring them and then wearing them knowing I will wear them often makes me feel fine about buying/wearing them.

      I 100% relate to your comment. It’s so easy to get caught up in what other people are perceiving. I think if I didn’t get comments on social media constantly calling me superficial and materialistic, I wouldn’t be having a second thought. The internet can convince me of anything lol.
      I just want to make sure I’m never promoting over consumption or making anyone feel like they HAVE to purchase a bag (or anything for that matter) if it’s not bringing them joy.
      Thank you again for this perspective. You’ve reminded me it’s okay to love nice things, if that’s what makes my heart sing 💞 I appreciate you.

    You’re points are all well made. I’m now at a point where I’m super into quality and understated pieces. I did have my time with LV and got many comments that were not good ones in the work place. Contemporary bags make me feel like I’m a part of everyone else. And what’s so funny is that not many people can afford contemporary…buying a $400 contemporary bag is still a luxury

    • @tesluxe
      @tesluxe  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I completely agree! I have never ONCE looked at someone carrying a Coach bag and thought “that’s not even expensive” like PLEASE SIS $400 for a bag is A LOT of money & you should be able to feel confident in whatever accessories you wear if they make you happy.
      It’s so important for me to remember I don’t have to put myself in a box. Nothing has to be black and white. I can love Longchamp in the same way I love Louis Vuitton simultaneously.
      The internet puts so much pressure on choosing a niche or aesthetic and sticking with it, but the reality is most of us love a little bit of everything.
      I love to hear from you, Julie! You’ve always been a voice of reason and I hold your opinions in such high regard. I really appreciate you continuing to not only share with me your thoughts but supporting my LV videos even when they aren’t what you’re currently gravitating toward! 🫶🏻

    I remember a little girl that just LOVED purses. She never knew about the difference between a Walmart bag and a LV bag. I think she loves her rich bags now but she never was uncomfortable with her bags. All that counts is the joy of having something you enjoy. I'd quit worrying about brand. A designer bag is no worse than an expensive car with all the bells and whistles. Actually I just bought two bags from TEMU. Cause I wanted a new summer bag. So as long as you don't sacrifice needs to have luxury then just enjoy and don't let what others think bother you. ❤

    I always wanted designer stuff because i always thought , for the price, it is insanely well made and something you can pass down to further generations eg the bag ciukd go to your child, which can be pasded down to their kid etc etc. But now i actually don't thinm that's the case anymore really. I have been extremely lucky to have been gifted somd luxury bags like prada, orly kiely and michael kors but i must admit to being very disappointed with the last 2 as the kors strap started peeling after a few uses (a few uses being like a month of solely using it) and orla doesn't have an inside zip pocket or maybe it's just in their backpack which is what i have. However the prada is still going strong, no fraying no strap peeling and i pretty much throw the thing around and it still looks brand new. I do tend to mainky use it in spring and summer because of its vibrant cobalt colour but i love that thing. My go to 'luxury bags' that i spend money on now are timberland and kipling bags. They are not cheap by any mrans but they are also not as expensive as your kors and kiely who then peel after a month

      I totally understand where you’re coming from. Luxury has definitely made a huge shift from lifetime quality to fast fashion, partly due to social media in my opinion.
      As these brands focus changes from quality to greed, we are feeling less and less luxurious in our purchases. To me luxury comes from the feeling something gives you. Some people even look at Target as the luxury version of Walmart.
      Times are changing. The shift is happening. It’s devastating. To see these brand who have been around for over a century just throw away their reputations for a quick buck is gutting to me.

    I got my first designer bag for Christmas 2021 (YSL small loulou in black) from my husband because he knew I’ve dreamt of owing a designer bag since I was younger. I’ve since bought myself a few more bags. I’ve been asked several times if my LV canvas bags are authentic and get lots of stares when I go out in them (not a lot of luxury where I live) has really given me the ick. I don’t think I can totally get on board with the silent luxury that doesn’t look like anything special but have recently been intrigued by LV empreinte as it is more muted.

    • @tesluxe
      @tesluxe  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m with you! I don’t want to go TOTALLY logo-less because that’s not being true to what I love.
      When I think of quiet luxury, I think of bags with minimal or singular logos instead of repetitive. In your case I would be more comfortable wearing a YSL that has a metal plate, than I would be LV monogram which is like BAM in your face.
      There’s not much luxury where I live either (depending on the area) so I often wonder if people think my monogram pieces are fake (especially the vintage ones with dark patina). I definitely catch people staring at my bags.
      I think LV empreinte is such a great alternative. Eventually I’ll add the black empreinte felicie to my collection for that reason. It can dressed down casually but also isn’t too flashy if I want to use it as a wedding guest.
      Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. We can both agree if we’re paying for a brand, we want it to be known! It just doesn’t have to be as loud as some of the bags out there!

    great video!! i so understand a lot of your talking points. i lOve all my luxury & contemporary pieces equally. i don’t find myself reaching as much for my lv bags as much as i do my longchamps & marc jacobs totes these days bc lately i’ve been very paranoid & afraid of getting r0bbed. not that i’m going anywhere shady but places everywhere are being targeted bc of the economy, so i sort of try my best to blend in when i go out, when i’m running errands alone.
    other times, i just feel like wearing my luxe bags & don’t pay any attention to the whole old money/wealth whispers stuff bc i like what i like - the main thing really for me is security. it’s sad when ppl assume & think all handbag enthusiasts are presumptuous & snobby. i budget for my bags, or sell a bag to get another if there’s something that’s above normal price range i feel i “need (lol)” to have. otherwise i wait for special days like birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas etc
    bottom line, we are handbag & slg enthusiasts, everyone has a hobby..some ppl collect cars, shoes, jewelry, plants, art, etc. it’s just with the handbags, it’s more visible so ppl are more judgmental on that it seems - but what they need to do is stop being judgy & let people just live & be happy 💚💚

    • @tesluxe
      @tesluxe  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I completely agree with you about trying to blend in and go under the radar. I live in an area where you rarely see luxury bags, so I do believe I stick out when I have mine on & could be more of a target.
      & YES! You said it perfectly. I feel like no one judges a man for spending their money on cars, sports, or other hobbies. No one judges woman who go to TJ Maxx twice a month, or get their nails done, or hair, etc. But when it comes to designer accessories suddenly we're shallow... It doesn't make any sense. I think the biggest thing is people don't know the preloved market exists and not everyone is dropping $2K on a bag.
      I'm tired of having to justify my finances & I am sad that using the bags I love is making me feel this way! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. It's so nice to know I am not alone in this.

    I really like LV monogram and makes me happy and aesthetically pleased to look at it. But people around me and my friends are shaming me for that🤦🏼‍♀️ not having an idea about heritage or the story that goes behind vintage models. So it does affect my decision which bag to take with me when I’m going somewhere where I know these people will be.. it’s sad actually and does spoil my happiness from carrying my carefully selected collection

    I feel as though I might know exactly how you feel. I’m also somebody that works 40-50 hours a week. I have bought all my bags preloved and from eBay which isn’t a cheap feat in the grand scheme of things but in my opinion and my eyes and from what I see on TH-cam I’m getting good deals when I purchase vintage as opposed to brand new from boutiques. I prefer understated luxury so I feel safe carrying my bags to work or out and about so I don’t possibly hurt anyone’s feelings or make them think that I’m showing off, although I wish I didn’t feel that way. For some examples of bags I carry I have a vintage brown epi petit noe and a black epi electric Alma bb. Two bags that are “if you know you know” due to the colors being different than the typical monogram or damier prints. I’m only saying my preference though, I think that if you feel comfortable wearing monogram bags and popular prints then you absolutely should, I love them too and if I see people with them I will compliment them. But I don’t personally feel comfortable carrying popular bags everyone knows either and never have

    • @tesluxe
      @tesluxe  ปีที่แล้ว

      YES! Thank you for putting this into words for me. You captured exactly how I’m feeling. I think anything in epi is more of an IYKYK type of thing. It’s understated, classy, and still gives your luxury loving heart some joy!
      Not that I feel as though I need to cater my appearance to others, but the misconception of people who love luxury not caring about anything else really makes me sad. I think the majority of luxury customers have appreciation for their purchases. They aren’t buying just to buy. At least most of the people I’ve spoken to about the subject.
      I find myself carrying my longchamp bags to work ALL THE TIME because they’re quality & understated.
      I think this might just be a funk I’m in. Hopefully I can go back to enjoying my monogram unapologetically 🙌🏻

      @@tesluxe I hope you can go back to wearing them too. I also carry the classic black le pliage Longchamp to work a lot. I know that in the end most of the judgment is probably in our heads, and if it isn’t in our heads and it’s real it says more about the person judging our bags than it does about us. I don’t drink alcohol, I don’t drink coffee, eat fast food or have children and all of those are just a few reasons why I can save for other things I want. I think if people realized they could get these items too if they knew how to budget for them maybe they’d be less judgmental of those who prioritize nice things

But with these price increases I could personally take a vacation instead 😂 Also, agree with budgeting! I just ordered this quilted italian leather crossbody from One Quince. Have you heard of them?? YES GIRL! Budget queens.
      Also, to your point about vacations - I think that's an example of an expense most people wouldn't judge someone for! I totally agree the price increases are ROBBERY, but at least you can use your bag over and over or resell, whereas a vacation only lasts so long. GRANTED, I have never been someone to prioritize traveling, which is something I would like to do moving forward!
      Also, yes I have seen about a million and one Instagram ads for One Quince but I have never ordered from them. I would absolutely LOVE to hear what you think of the bag when it comes!! Great video and great topic! When I started collecting luxury handbags from my average budget just like you I was very shy and would not wear them to work etc. But now I even turn it around: I can‘t understand why women carry ugly cheap bags. It ruins the whole look. But you can easily elevate casual clothes with a Luxury bag or nice shoes. Also a bag is something you touch and feel all the time. So I want this to be something of good quality material with a nice touch and feel and a nice design, too. It just makes me feel good. And I am not as beautiful as you are 😉 So go for it and ignore people who envy you 😊

      It really is all about perspective! There are many things people love to spend their money on that is considered "normal" to society (cars, travel, etc). I will admit, in the past I have seen a nice car and thought to myself "why would ANYONE spend THAT MUCH money on a CAR?". It's important to remember what brings someone else joy might not make sense to me, but it's truly none of my business. Or anyone else's!
      At the end of the day a designer bag/SLG/accessory is what makes me happy & confident. I really appreciate your thoughts on this topic. It's a great reminder that if luxury is what makes my heart sing, and I am living within my means, there is truly no shame! Thank you!
