If I'm hearing about the news was devastating and we still don't know it happened. They said that they had found her dead in her home, at 63 years of age the first they were saying 62. Yes all of this came as a shock and if you listen to that song as much as she said you said you did I know it had to have come as a shock to you as well. I'm so sad to learn of Irene Cara's passing today. She was a voice and a talent from a certain time in our lives. This song will always be one of my favorites, as whenever I listen to it, it automatically takes be back to a sweeter happier time in my younger life and reminds me of dear friends that were lost to the raging AIDS epidemic happening back then. I first saw Irene Cara perform on stage when she was a 12-year-old cast member of an off-Broadway production of the musical "The Me Nobody Knows". She was a prodigy, and her immense talent was obvious, even then. She was a shining light. R.I.P.
I was a friend of hers she started in the Me nobody Knows when she was 10. I went to opening night when it was on Off Broadway. She slept over my house. We had the same Jazz and Tap teacher (Phil Black) and vocal coach (Al Greiner). Her mom and my mom worked together as ushers in Broadway theaters. Irene and I used to go to the theater after our dance classes. Im heartbroken by her passing. She was a wonderful person.

Hi ! It's all very sad, such a dear and good singer left us, much too soon! I was 19 years old when I saw the film in the cinema, it shaped my time, it was the time when I got my driver's license, it was on the radio when I had my first driving lesson, I couldn't get up because of the beautiful song concentrate on driving, which made my driving instructor angry! :-)) All in all a very nice time, thank you Irene Cara for making us happy in the 80's with your songs. One of the best singers of the 80's has left us, Irene, you will always be in in our hearts and your music will continue to accompany us through life. Back in the 1980s, I never heard of or heard this song. Only with the internet have I been able to find thousands of songs from the 1980s and other decades to enjoy. Only in the past year or so, with internet searches, have I been able to get the album this song is on. Back then music choices were severely restricted to what was aired on the radio (too often the same 50-60 hits in a year) or what few cassettes/records one could buy from the stores (which carried limited titles).
Wow...I never heard this beauty ballad by sweet Irene Cara. It was very sad that she just died at young age 63. Irene was very special and lovely singer!

I saw the whole concert an then later found out she had passed ,Oh my lord that hit me like a ton of bricks,I would give anything to have been at that last concert in japan.

I first saw Irene Cara perform on stage when she was a 12-year-old cast member of an off-Broadway production of the musical "The Me Nobody Knows". She was a prodigy, and her immense talent was obvious, even then. She was a shining light. R.I.P.

I was a friend of hers she started in the Me nobody Knows when she was 10. I went to opening night when it was on Off Broadway. She slept over my house. We had the same Jazz and Tap teacher (Phil Black) and vocal coach (Al Greiner). Her mom and my mom worked together as ushers in Broadway theaters. Irene and I used to go to the theater after our dance classes. Im heartbroken by her passing. She was a wonderful person.

One thing I love also with this song is the strings instrumental at 2:18 before changing to a higher key. So breathtaking. A song with perfect mix of Irene's vocals and build-up of instruments.

Hi ! It's all very sad, such a dear and good singer left us, much too soon! I was 19 years old when I saw the film in the cinema, it shaped my time, it was the time when I got my driver's license, it was on the radio when I had my first driving lesson, I couldn't get up because of the beautiful song concentrate on driving, which made my driving instructor angry! :-)) All in all a very nice time, thank you Irene Cara for making us happy in the 80's with your songs. One of the best singers of the 80's has left us, Irene, you will always be in in our hearts and your music will continue to accompany us through life. Back in the 1980s, I never heard of or heard this song. Only with the internet have I been able to find thousands of songs from the 1980s and other decades to enjoy. Only in the past year or so, with internet searches, have I been able to get the album this song is on. Back then music choices were severely restricted to what was aired on the radio (too often the same 50-60 hits in a year) or what few cassettes/records one could buy from the stores (which carried limited titles).
