- After the American Revolution, veterans of the Sullivan-Clinton Campaign - who had waged war against the Iroquois during the Revolution - returned to the fertile lands of Upstate New York to start new settlements. One such settlement was the village of Newtown, formed in 1792 along the banks of the Chemung River. In 1808, the village was renamed Elmira.
Funding provided by a grant from Empire State Development.

really, two minutes and ten seconds to talk about the history of this town, there was a lot more than what you talked about in this video
Elmira is nothing but a wasteland all those that built this area would cry if they saw what it has become.
Racist
All of the old manufacturing cities of the northeast have been hard-hit by offshoring.
According to Peter Zeihan (a geopolitical observer) now that the globalization that
propped up China is over; manufacturing will be returning to the USA, Canada and
Mexico. However, most of it that ends up in USA will not be the old-style piecework
for manufacturing and assembling processes. These will be high(er)-tech "value
added jobs" .... So, if you're young enough to work you'd better upgrade your skills.
@@here_we_go_again2571 A.I (Artificial Intelligence) will be doing those jobs... Sadly 😢

Somebody has got to be around to fill in
what the machines can't do. But, it will
be a person with high skill levels.
