I remembered this anime's theme song as a kid especially its opening theme when I still watched anime on AXN when I was a 1st/2nd grade and so catchy it never went outta my head, along with slam dunk, you're under arrest and gensomaden saiyuki!! I watched it after never watched it or getting interested in watching one back then, and I love it, and I wish animes these days have more interesting themes unlike the current ones airing on animax mostly these days!!

Tbh I remember watching this on DirectTV when I was like 8. (Channel 533, 3 or so episodes at 5am and sometimes later. Around 6pm?) Who knew a random airing of a show would shape my tastes for a long time. The show only got better when I got older, too. Some deeper themes touched on, such as Meia’s abandonment trauma and Hibiki’s struggle to find purpose.
I had my parents buy the DVD set for this anime, just so I wouldn't wake them up in the early hours for the tapes in the early 2000's. Still thank them for the gifting since then.
They don't do shows like this in 2017. I'm glad I belonged to a generation that actually watched anime because it was cool. Newer generations are all about what's currently famous. Back then you might actually have to fall on a show on a music channel that had like one or two anime. MCM in Belgium streamed it in 2003-2004. On the internet people were watching them in below 360p and still feeling like hackers if they fell on an episode or two on those old video sites that don't exist anymore...
Yes ! So true ! At the time I watched it on "Mangas" in french ..That channel was my home , I watched everything it gave me ! There also was NT1 and Europe2 TV (Virgin 17) , then later Game One ...ahh so many memories

I completely agree. I started rewatching Vandread today in 2020. Brings back so many memories and when anime was good. Today’s anime is alright but seems to have the same themes when it comes to these types of anime.
Trigger is good. Watch all the Trigger original works, especially Kill la Kill and Darling in the FRANXX. There's a reason people say Trigger saved anime.

Especially with so many people these days just trying to live for comfort, and letting their lives pass them by, instead of fighting to find friends and their soul mate.

So many memories!! OMG i remember all of it since i was a child!!! i really wanted a 3 season with dita and hibiki finally together and there´s a movie about vandread turbulance, the rest continues in the manga.
The Manga was totally unrelated for the most part. The Light Novel, however, was a continuation of the anime timeline; Dita and Hibiki marry and have a child.
I remember first time playing MGS in 2002... It blew my fucking mind away, then a couple of years later I stumbled upon this, same thing again. I have a severe brain damage ever since then. Perfect anime! Still get goosebumps every time I hear this or any song or by just mentioning Vandread.
Every once a year i rewatching this anime.. i still can't forget watching this at AXN every night after doing my homework when i was 16yrs old can't believe im still a big fan of this aside from gundams now im well its been 12yrs have past and yeah this anime is still the best for me..

Eagle123delta I didn't have a problem with the dubs either lol. Then again I will watch anime however I can get it, be it subbed or dubbed. Personally, only really ever experienced horrible dubs from the likes of some of the offshoot companies.
I started watching this anime at around the second stage where this song has already been replaced by another and when I heard this in the final episode, I was like this song is sooo good why didn’t they used it as an opening. Then I stared watching the first season and lo and behold it was the opening lol.

Just found Vandread while on a search for good anime in binge. Came across it while watching Hajime no Ippo and Eyeshields, any advise on other good earlier 2000s anime? Couldn't really get into Dougram or Dragonar love their themes though.
