I recently did a quick drive by my local Hyundai dealership - currently Calgary’s only genesis dealership, to see these babies up close.. The g80 and gv80 truly do look even more spectacularly beautiful in person. I was blown away.

I just turned in my 2018 G80 (5.0) as the 3 year lease ended. I test drove a 2021 3.5TT standard trim level. It was a better driving experience than the 2018. I liked the way the car felt going down the road, via the steering wheel and the seat. I really like the styling. Great improvement from the prior model. The one thing I noticed was the fuel tank filler, was above the crease line on the rear quarter panel. This looks like it would be a "drip down the side problem" or even a "scratch the paint problem" from the filler nozzle. It looks like you will have to be very careful when fueling the car. I thing they didn't improve was the cup holders. Only four in the car and they are narrow and tight. That was my biggest complaint on the 2018 model. We really hated taking it on long trips. no where to set a larger cup (not that much larger). I was so hoping they would address that. Am I the only one who has a problem with this? Anyone else ever mention this to the design guys? I really like your reviews!! Great job!! My sales guy at the dealership talks about your videos too!!

I have to laugh at how you review and evaluate cars is so similar to mine and that is what I like so much about your videos - it is like I am in the car with you. One thing that I have noticed on various pictures and reviews that have been posted (and noticeable starting at 17:10 in this video) is how the wood grain on the door that covers the cup holders is not matched to the surrounding panel - it is obvious that it is cut from a different piece of wood. I would prefer that Genesis take it up a notch and match those grains - that is true attention to detail. It is a nitpick, but those types of details are important for the customer that Genesis is chasing with these vehicles. Other than that, awesome car! Thanks again and have a happy and safe 2021.

Hi Charlie, I like the Design and the Luxury inside the G80 but I think that to sell this big Sedan´s in the Future Worldwide will be very difficult because the sales numbers go very fast down, I think that Genesis must concentrate more on SUV´s in the Future, customers want small. Midsize and big SUV´s with efficient and powerfull Motors.

Philip...The G80 is tuned more for comfort here in Korea. So the engine choice really depends on what you like personally. I'd take either the diesel or the 2.5T myself.
It depends. I love 3.5TT the most powerful, depending on the use, i think this 2.2L would go very nice with this 2021 Genesis G80. Very efficient. Thank you Philip.
The only thing I wonder about is the lack of rear seat fold down. I suppose it has something to do with the integrity but it was something I found a bit annoying when I wanted to put something longer and wider in the boot of my 2014 Genesis in Australia.
Please tell the guys at Genesis, that they should bring the car to Europe! It’s (neatly) impossible to get one imported and I’m sure, it would compete very well against its German rivals. Would really love to own one..sadly they don’t seem to care about Europe.

When will the Plug-In Hybrid G80 model, ie the Plug-In Hybrid version with a petrol Inline Twin turbo and 2.2 or 2.5 Twin turbo diesel engine, come?. 🤔 Is there a DCT transmission coming as well?. In a turbo diesel engine, of course, torque is much more important than horsepower. 🤔😁
Yes, it is a bit slower compared to gasoline variant, but this Genesis G80 felt very nice and smooth for a diesel. Not sure about the hybrid or plug in hybrid, but i am hearing there will be a full EV car on this Genesis G80. Thanks .
