I downloaded the workbook-thank you for making this available! Do you have a video that explains how to use the worksheet itself, once it's completed? I watched the video to see how I can change out the product, vendor, etc. information but since it primarily focuses on how to build the worksheet, I'm not sure how to proceed and be able to use the worksheet itself. Thanks again!

Thanks a lot this is amazing!
i have added a column "Active" in the products page (people managing the product catalog put Y if Active, N if Not)- and added this column to the criteria list. This enables to filter out from the Product choice on POS products that are no longer active or on sale. This also garantees that the old inactive products are still in the products database in order to retrieve orders that included it. Again a big thanks for sharing your knowledge and super useful templates.

    • @ExcelForFreelancers
      @ExcelForFreelancers  ปีที่แล้ว

Thanks so much for your comment. Adding the active feature is a great idea, since you can still save data for all items, however the list of available/ active items is smaller than the complete list. A great idea no doubt. Thank you for your Likes, Shares & Comments. It really helps.

Hi Randy. I love your videos and your techniques on how you approach a problem solving. Your results are absolutely inspiring to me and have helped me many times.
However, it would also be interesting to me if there was a "reset button" per Excel folder that would empty the folder contents with one click when a new year, new month, etc. begins.
It would also be interesting to know how to create a dynamic invoice with Excel, which can then be printed out for the client.
Best regards from Germany, NRW, Joko

I had to deal with a few POS systems. Important for us was always: Import/export Customers and products (including modifiers). Export of sales reports and various sales statistics is a must. When dealing with food very important were food modifiers. If you have a made-to-measure salad it needs a variety of modifiers. Type of salad, Protein selection, dressing selection, vegetable selection, and so on. If you consider a restaurant, you can have eat-in, take-out, and catering orders. All can have different menu items that have the same name but are prepared differently. For example, a Geen salad for a catering order is 6 person minimum and individual order is just one portion. Yet the name is the same. To create the perfect POS is very challenging and it has to be PCI compliant. If you can't charge the c/c directly from the POS application it is kind of pointless to create one in my opinion. But it's a great training topic for sure. Can' wait to see the difference from your previous version.

Very interesting and thanks so much for sharing. So many possibilities with Excel. That is the issue with most developers. We try to create something for everyone and end up either not creating anything at all or creating something for nobody. It is better to create a simple, straight-forward application that is great for some, instead of trying to add every possibility, feature and option to accommodate everyone.
Keep It Simple and you will have a huge amount of success.

I have a question, every time you click on a cell it get's highlighted and shows a green boarder around the cell. I would like to know how I can remove that so that when I click it looks like a plane screen without cells inside. I would like to have a feel of a proper application where no one would guest that it's an excel application. I hope you understood and I hope you will help. Thanks in advance.🙏

Thank you very much Randy, long training but worth every second!! I made some adjustments to suit my particular case, nothing too drastic, and thought I was almost at the finish line. Now my issue is I don't know how to protect everything from users that could change formats, unhide hidden columns / sheets, view / change code, etc. I love excel, but still have to get to grips with VBA and intend to do your VBA training. I've tried a few pieces of code I found but none worked. I wonder if there is a video or code which could help me? I'm probably not the first person to encounter this issue. Many thanks.

Instant Sub. I decided to dedicate my Labor Day weekend to your video project and WOOHOO!!! I'm alright with Excel, but I got stumped on one part that now, I think is an error and I'd like to bring it to your attention. At 1:25:41, you began creating a conditional statement base on a variable that, although defined, had not yet been set. Executing the code at this point would not produce the desired effect because there is no "LastResultRow" value (null, right? or just nothing). That aside, this is a true gem and I can't believe work like yours exists in a public forum. Bravo friend, Bravo.

@@ExcelForFreelancers Hello again! Thank you for the reply! I didn't mean to report a bug because I'm not able to download your reference file (long story, not at home, not a lot of space, family everywhere, etc). I like to decompress with thought exercises, and I was so impressed by your video that I decided to just see if I could follow you from a blank workbook as an exercise over the long holiday weekend and I'm a glutton for punishment (lots of pausing... and typing). I got past my issue with raspberry iced tea and by using the "LastRow" formula for the "LastResultRow" variable. From there, I just redirected it to the filtered order results. Boom! I'm back on track. You guys did a great thing here and I'm grateful! So, no issue to report; "LastResultRow" just needed to be set and have a value > 3 to move past 1:25:41. Once again, I can't thank you all enough for this great presentation and sorry for my miscommunication (it's really early in the morning! LOL!)

@@ExcelForFreelancers Thanks that could work, although it is a different idea. The vendor database/ supplier database will be a combination of multiple videos that you have done. Such as " Excel equipment rental" and "Point of Sale". The idea is to initially have a form to enter, amend, and delete supplier contact details similar to the "equipment rental". Then there is the user-friendly dashboard, which is similar to the icons from "point of sales". So when click for example on "Furniture" all suppliers registered under the furniture category should appear in a list. Because I'm bad at VBA, I was looking forward to learning step by step how to do it from you!! but I will try to replicate your steps and see how it will look like. Thanks again and looking forward for your next video :)

    • @ExcelForFreelancers

Hello Randy. I want to point out that stock gets to negative number which in real life doesn't happen. I suggest there should be restriction for example when stock if 0 the program should pop up a message "OUT OF STOCK" and refuse to add product.
    Thank you for your effort.

Another great video! I was hopeful that you would get to covering adding items to drop down list on the fly, with pop up form. Do you cover adding items to a drop down list in any of your other videos? I’ve watched all of them I think but don’t recall seeing it.

I just have a few questions:
I don't quite understand the difference between writting .Range or writting Range
    And i don't undstand the difference between writting for example : X = Range("A1").value and X = Range("A1")

Hi and thanks for your comment. When writing code on a specific sheet (and not in a module) there is no need to refer to a specific sheet if the sheet you are referring to is the same sheet. For example if you are writing code on sheet1 and referring to sheet1 you can use
      Range("A1").value = 1
However if you are in a modules and referring to sheet1 then you will want to reference the specific sheet you are working on like this
      With Sheet1
      .Range("A1").value = 1
      End with
When you want to refer to a specific value in a sheet you will use the ".value" however if you want to refer just to the specific Range you can use Range("A1")
I have a free VBA course taught by MVP Sumit Bansal on my site right here: www.excelforfreelancers.com/enroll-in-the-free-excel-vba-course-by-mvp-sumit-bansal-of-trumpexcel/
I hope this helps and thanks so much.

Hello Randy, I hope this message finds you well. I am currently working with a charity as a volunteer and have come across this excellent Excel POS system that I would like to incorporate. However, I was wondering if it would be possible to replace the $ Dollar sign with £ GBP, as we are based in the UK. Thank you very much for your help.

Hello Randy I appreciate you for being steadfast in building a generation of professional programmers.
I have a like issue with POS with inventory "Advanced filter". I ran into a bug that reads "The extract range has a missing or illegal field name" when I try to load an order using the "order I'd". Please kindly help me out.
    Thank you Buddy.

Hi Idris, thanks so much, this bug means that either your criteria headers or your results headers do not match the original data or the ranges are incorrect in your VBA code. Please make sure to copy and paste the headers from the original data and also check the code.
