I dunno why the algorithm showed this to ppl who can't appreciate it, but I both like and appreciate this. Would like to see these two talk more. Need to get Eliezer to talk to more smart political ppl like Destiny b/c the political world is a bit more grounded and relatable to most ppl. It's also a good way to test if your priorities are reasonable or just clever & esoteric, but nevertheless detached from reality.

The idea that 2-3 year old toddlers are not conscious is laughable. My son is almost 4, and has been fully & perceptively engaged with the world for years, making conscious observations about his environment and his own feelings.

1:04 Robin Hanson didn’t invent prediction markets, the Iowa prediction market predates his by a couple years and versions of it have existed for centuries.

The part that should scare people is that 10 months later, Fully Self Driving cars are here. Yikes!

@@dayvancowboi9135 I thought it was clear if you watched the video. Technology is plowing ahead in such a rapid pace, since this video was posted there has been a huge advance in self driving cars, as neural networks are now employed. Not that I’m sympathetic to Eliezer, full speed ahead and let the chips fall where they may, I say.
But I don’t have any children, easy position to take.

This would have been interesting if Eliezer were not debating an intellectual light-weight.

Just 2 unqualified internet personalities making generalized statements about incredibly complex issues they don't properly understand, while using big words to sound smart.
De-regulation of pharmaceuticals is one thing, but for some random guy to call for the abolishment of the FDA is absurd

Really not fair to group together Destiny and Yudkowski in that sort of manner.
