- UK Games Expo 2024 - Part Two
The UKGE 2024 is over and there was plenty to talk about in terms of games, experiences and people I saw. So much so that I recorded over 90 minutes of footage talking about it. So I can't do a 90 minute video, that's insane!
So you're getting it in two parts! Enjoy!

Who Am I?
One single batchelor from the UK talking about his passion for board games and the people who play them! I support small content creators, board game cafes and go against the status quo when it comes to the board game industry. I give my honest opinions without bias towards any publishers or designers and will not hold back if I don't like a game.
The Broken Meeple is a variety channel that hosts all kinds of board game content from reviews to Top 10 lists to playthroughs to live stream collaborations with special guests (predominantly small channels who deserve more exposure).
I look forward to engaging with you, the community on my live streams or in the comments on my videos!

I don't think there is anything gritty about Ghostbusters. It's a comedy through and through but I understood your point.
It's more that the heroes aren't all perfect. They smoke, they drink, they swear, something which only the 80s was wiling to embrace.
Yonder sounds intriguing
I am excited about black forest. I hope it tickles my fancy. I love caverna, le havre and fields of arle, but i did not like glass roads. It felt very basic and uninspiring to me. So hopefully the only thing heavily inspired by glass roads is the resource wheel.
Pretty much yes!
Going to buy lotr duel and put it on the shelf next to the actual duel 😅
But how would you pick one!?
Dammmn I was almost hoping Black Forest wasn’t worth it because I don’t really have enough room on my shelf for another Uwe game. Ah well, thanks for sharing your thoughts and glad you enjoyed it!
Ha ha, always more room!
Black Forest sounds great, looking forward to it (I have not tried Glass Road)
Haha I still love ghostbusters. Even the sequels
But not 2016 right...... Right???
The 2016 one is so funny! @@TheBrokenMeeple
Interesting about Yonder. Really enjoyed Moon but it for sure goes on for quite a minute even at 3.
Moon dragged on way too long and killed the game.
You know what's disappointing to me? Everything you said about World Order. I can't believe how much my anticipation for that game has been deflated by this video. But that's why I like watching your videos. Straight goods, no fluff. Thanks.
Sorry to deflate but gotta say it how it is 🙁
@@TheBrokenMeeple No, I appreciate it. If I remove the tone of your voice and just think about the points you're making . . . I think I agree with you and that the gameplay is going to be just average for me.
Euro style area control boring?! lol to each his own Luke :)
They never feel epic or high stakes - mainly comparing number of cubes or how many soldier miniatures per area.
regarding Duel... there is a change that felt... off. the price of resources, it's just one coin for one resource. it just felt a bit weird to just basically chuck cards for money constantly to just buy resources soooo easily, not a fan of that aspect, takes away from the card selection. Also seen some green abilities that honestly felt... busted: like get 3 money for building with a symbol, when one money buys you one resource, it's waaaay too good
Yeah definitely some more tweaking required.
I actually like both Afterlife and Frozen n Empire and find them better sequels than Ghostbusters 2. I played Spokes at Airecon and enjoyed it.
Afterlife rode on the nostalgia. Frozen Empire went a bit off the rails in terms of story.
Kronologic was fantastic to me. Very pleasant, clean deduction game.
Draft and Write records bleurgh, the objective mechanism was trash imho
Agreed.
I saw Black Forest recently at an expo and was very disappointed with it.
Because I already have Ora Et Labora and Glass Road and definitely don't want to buy the same game with a different taste again.
I had hoped for new ideas but that's impossible in 2024 it seems :-/
I still haven't played Ora & Labora, it's so high on my try list.
I think in how you build up your settlement and expand your territory with all the different manufactories and loads of ressources it's the most satisfying to me.
Also the wheel in this is some kind of clock so everyone is reminded at any time when the game end is coming.
0:34 .... yeah, that one stomped me a bit, BUT WHY ! who cares !
I think you should make some videos about movies. You have a movie reviewer skills which are not utilized.
I do my little shorts but yeah I think combining movies and board games would be a little tricky not to mention even more work intensive!
Luke, it's Devir. Not Devier. You're hurting my ears. Thx!
Lol I make no promises I'll get it right! :P
