@@SamuelCulper-h6s what I really meant is I legit cried when I heard it. And once again when Rob talked about Aysha. What a time to be a fan of both!!!
He snatched defeat from the jaws of victory by not just taking the easy route. Once you have a wounded antelope like Andy was, you gotta throw him to the wolves.
Feel so sorry for Jon. How unbelievable! Andy had a psychological meltdown on Day 3, threw Jon under the bus, & the entire tribe decided to turn against Jon... What???!!!! That tribe was horrendous to do that to Jon 👎🏿 and the tribe made a bad decision. Jon should have been on Survivor 47 longer than the 1st episode. Sidebar - Rome & Gabe are both going to be hot mess players-lol.
I enjoyed the premiere and was glad to see Aysha was able to recover. Loving Teeny Welch so far too! I didn’t love how much time was spent on advantage hunting though, so I disagree with Omar’s take that this was the best premiere since KR. I really identify and empathize with Andy, but I do agree with Rachel that I wouldn’t want to get dragged into it from a game sense. I liked Jon more than I expected to (he was a bit overexposed in the season previews imo) and was actually sad to see him go. I do wonder what the other tribes’ reactions will be to this vote out considering Andy publicly announced he was going to throw Jon under the bus. How does that affect Andy’s perception? Or the yellow tribe’s?
I imagine that would have to have been a tough episode for Andy to watch. I hope he had some supportive friends and family around him. Hopefully things get better for him from here. I really wanted to see him make the merge and talk to Aysha and Teeny. RHAP Alliance
I picked Jon to go home in my prediction. But then I really wanted Andy. Jon’s fatal flaw was going after Anika instead - he should’ve just piled on Andy. I think he got himself voted out. When he asked who Andy wanted voted out, and he said Anika, Jon should’ve used that against him
Very confused why neither Andy or Jon even entertained the notion of their shot in the dark. It’s weird that it wasn’t mentioned at any point by anyone. Is it confirmed that shot in the dark is still a thing this season?
Oh nooo, I didn't want Jon to go. But if I take one good thing out of it, is that now I feel like there's a better chance that they will do a tribe of first boots in a future season of Survivor :D I could listen to Omar all day long talk about Survivor!!
It is exhausting being emotionally invested this early in a season 😂 it was surreal to hear Teeny talking about knowing Aysha and then her mentioning RHAP! I’m sad Jon got voted out first, I think he was threateningly well spoken and charming…BOO 🍅 🍅🍅 3 tribes, I am tired of you
I think Jon's biggest mistake was choosing the wrong target (or letting Andy choose the target for him). He probably should have gone after Rachel through Sam and Anika instead of targeting Anika. The angle being that, if they want to keep Andy around for strength, Rachel could be dangerous since Andy has imprinted himself on her so immediately. She also wasn't much of an asset on the puzzle and he could pitch himself as able to take that role from her. Sierra could also work, but she has the physical game qualities that are prized in the first week of the game, so I don't know that he'd get much traction there unless she were just really socially on the outside. I mean, of course, throwing Andy under the bus was probably the best move, but if he really wanted to get some control in the game himself or just thought they were probably keeping Andy for strength, I think he had a better route to stick around.
Also if he really wanted Anika gone, he probably would have been better off trying to get Rachel onside with him and Andy and then going to Sierra or Sam with their 3 votes.
I’m not a hater, but I did not like this premiere. There was too much treasure hunting. We saw FOUR people go on treasure hunts this episode. The two on the journey were fine, but the two back at camp got old. The problem is that there were two people I don’t know yet executing a multi-tiered scavenger hunt simultaneously. It was too much all at once. I wanted to get to know the people better, not see people on scavenger hunts.
What if the tribes race through some kind of paint in the tribe colors during the first challenge? That would make it a bit easier to tell who's who and drive the community building aspect that Jeff was talking about.
I will probaby disconnect this one because of the CONSTANT music they have in the background. What's with that? It's SO ANNOYING. Like we're not able to get into it unless we're hyped up with constant drumming and dissonance
I feel like if Andy was not known to the RHAP community then Rob, Omar and the viewers here would be much more critical of his game in this episode. Yes, he had a breakdown, which we have seen before with other players, and anxiety is a real problem - both on and outside of the show. But even before then he was playing really bad, and I feel like with any other player they would have been much more critical in their analysis of how he did here. Or is it just me? Am I an awful person?
No, you're just being real. I don't remember people being this (or at all) sympathetic to Bhanu last season. Some people are just not mentally equipped for Survivor and if you don't want to make them feel uncomfortable by criticizing their behavior, that's completely fine, but going above and beyond to justify it and pretend it's not a big deal is not helpful either.
Interesting that the cast has seen only part of last season and doesn't know who won. Maybe that could be why Rachel went so anti-Kenzie when faced with an anxious tribemate... maybe she thinks that Ben tanked Kenzie's game.
Can someone please explain why he’s being called “baby Andy”. I know they said to listen to RAANAP but like which episode and when. It’s just being said over 50% of the time when referencing him so would love to know :)
Andy’s collapse gave me Brandon vibes where the excitement of being on Survivor competing was just a bit too much. Then he did a Bhanu over share emotional moment. I hope he gets his feet in the game, and gets back more self confidence.
I was about to lose my mind with how many times community was said. It felt so disingenuous and was screming fed line that I was getting hella annoyed with it.
I would love another opener like Pearl Islands, or even one where they start on the boat and have to gather supplies. Instead, we have a bunch of sissies who start on the beach and belong in a coffee house, saying things like "Like, literally, and OMG." These people have lost me after 1 episode. The new era will be Survivor's demise.
Anybody getting a Keanu Reeves vibe from Andy, also why are there never any scenes of them "strategizing" before challenges it seems like it would be good content ?
I think it was a good episode, but watching two queer men struggle to fit in and unable to make anything happen really triggered me. It was just really painful and personally triggering for me to watch. I think it was interesting, but I just left being both sad Jon left and emotionally hurt at watching things that I've struggled with in my life play out on screen.

No one cares if you’re queer as long as you’re cool. The reasons for them feeling left out was for different reasons. They both aren’t very good players at the end of the day
THIS. As a bisexual guy who's struggled with social connections my whole life I just wanted to give Andy a hug the entire episode. And then I really felt for him when everyone treated what was clearly a mental health spiral as a "blowup" and attributing it to game terms but like he was clearly struggling on a personal level in those moments
@lololololololol2012 When 85% of people (guestimate based on pollinh) of people are straight or closeted, you are already naturally a bit on the outs in the same way as being Asian, black, Latina, etc, on Survivor place you on the outs when you start. While Survivor has done more to support and enable bipoc people, queer/neurodivergent/disabled people still struggle to fit in. Queer people can do well on Survivor as Jam Jam, Parv, etc. Have shown, but when you have a harder chance of winning. When the queer people are on the outs in a tribe regardless of the micro reasons why, it doesn't feel strategic, but something more built on the social difference between queer people and straight people created both through internal trauma and natural inclinations. Not every person on Survivor will fit into their tribe. That's perfectly okay, but why they don't fit in is a different issue.
I couldn't disagree more. I think this was one of the worst premieres in the new era not only vecause of who was voted off but because it feels like the cast just really isn't actually all that diverse or here to properly play.
