Ah yes. A paratrooper falling to his death. What a great song for kids! But seriously, it is pretty gruesome. When my half-brother (from my biological mom, it's a long story!) graduated from the Air Force Academy, they had everyone graduating sing it in front of everyone. The look on some of the faces of their parents was priceless.

His generals used their paratroopers several times to great effect. The reason the Europeans aren't all speaking German today is because he thought because he was a corporal in WWI he was smarter than the men who took most of eastern Europe without firing a single round, conquered Poland in a couple weeks and defeated the French in the largest and most intricate defenses ever built. The generals who would have conquered all of north Africa and the middle east and would have secured the oil fields needed to continue the war. The mp43...had he switched to them in 1940 they would have had the best battle rifle on planet earth that was select fire, had an intermediate cartridge and a 30 round magazine...against bolt action rifles until we got there with our 30-06 rifle cartridged, 8 round internal magazine fed at the breach by a clip, semiautomatic M1 Garand, which gave us a tactical advantage of fire power that we would have not had... Had he allowed their jet fighter/patrol aircraft be built in great numbers instead of demanding more prop driven penatration bombers, had he not told his eastern army to go to Russia in the fall without winter clothes and to continue to advance in ice and snow instead of building defensive perimeters and dug in their tanks instead of being so far out from supply lines and lines of communication that men froze and starved to death and had their mules die of the same, their tanks be destroyed by the engines siezing up because they had no petrol to run them and they couldn't defend themselves... Or maybe not fight a two front war while also fighting a smaller conflict in north Africa. He was not a military tactician and definitely not a military strategist. More like a military moron. And the dumbest thing ever by any head of state in world history....declare war on the one country whose industrial power was double that of all of Europe combined who had just been attacked by Japan and whose country was united in a singular goal of kicking the ass of those who attacked them without provacation and anyone else who was looking to get their asses kicked.
Back in 1968 when I went through Jump School They played this over the loud speakers as we marched in the morning to our long day of arduous training. I have never forgotten what it was like. “Blood on the Risers” is an American paratrooper song from World War II. Sung to the tune of “The Battle Hymn of the Republic,” the song tells of a fatal training jump of a rookie paratrooper whose parachute fails to deploy, resulting in him falling to his death.

I don’t think everyone gets the fact that this song was made to comfort them in their final moments , singing this song before battle expecting to die a gruesome death , now a days people cry and whimper over getting yelled at work by their manager
One could argue that our forefathers died those gruesome deaths so that way the worst thing their descendants would ever have to face was an angry manager.
Oh shut up. Quit shitting on younger generations for NOT having to face a gruesome death. Do you WANT us to die horribly? No body should ever have had to die that way. Nowadays, most of us are stuck knowing that we will never be able to retire, own a house, or have children. We will be non stop wage slaves until our bodies and minds can't function anymore. Then we'll be neglected in low funded state nursing homes, stewing in our own piss and shit. Inflation will continue to rise while our wages will continue to stagnate. When faced with this reality, I would cry too if the person in control of our dwindling pay check had a negative opinion on our ability to work. Please, stop talking
