I went with my grandfather to a WWII veterans reunion and got to listen to a group of men singing this it was beautiful.
I saw a video about that event
Hooah!! ❤🇺🇲
Hooah!!
(the late) PFC. Vincent J. Speranza?
Pain is temporary, but glory..last a little while longer
Glory endureth forever
@@ruredtovotered it does not
As a retired paratrooper, thank you for this. My favorite old Army cadence!!
Me to
Thank you for your service
As a former Royal Life Guard (Sweden), I salute you my brother. 🫡❤️🇺🇲
this song was our wakeup call during jump week, did wonders for your nerves, Sept '75. Airborne all the way!!!
until hearign the entirety of this cadance and also reading the lyrics i honestly always heard the tag line as "glory , Glory, what a hell of a way to die" this is the first i have actually heard the entire version and damn it hit hard understanding what "actually" happened
I had never paid much attention to this one either, but man…
My grandfather sang this when he was working outside, my grandmother didn't like the cadences. I always sang cadances along with him. When I was old enough I joined the military
Same😮
They tend to sing this *at* people on the ride to their first jump. You know. When they're nervous and don't know what to expect.
@JonathanMichaelFleming you did a good job. Yes it's a cover for a older song. but it takes a lot of practice + editing in the footsteps and stuff like that .
My father was 22 years airborne he taught me a lot of airborne songs I wish he was here to hear you he would have been so proud of the cadences you do thank you.
I send my condolences
As someone who annually watches band of brothers, I'm so stoked you covered it 10/10 thank you sir.
One of favorite series of all time! ❤
I'ma old Marine. I'd run thru the sea, coz I ain't jumping outta an airplane. God bless them that did
As a Veteran of the 82nd Airborne Division and the 173rd Airborne Brigade, this is more of a drinking song rather than a marching song. Regardless, not bad!
Good man you are. I’m a retired 11H/11BB4 but never did Airborne, I embraced the Air Assault route and did all the fun filled schools as I went up the ladder, lol. The 173rd has a deep and well respected history. Here in San Antonio, TX there’s not many Infantry Vets so I would go to the Airborne Association meetings and chat with some old Vietnam era Grunts and as they told me their stories I could visualize every detail since I’m well familiar with the tools they used and Dak To was no damn joke. With my 6 years served in 2/502nd INF, 101st I learned a lot about our heritage in WWII and Vietnam and was amazed. And I know being in an Airborne unit isn’t an easy assignment, lots of ruck marches like we did at Ft. Campbell.
Thank you for your service .
Top refused to let me lead this cadence at Bragg.
thank you for your service! if emperor xi the pooh sets foot in Taiwan we might yet meet.
Not the way I learned this song but the point is still the same..
What we do isn't safe, men get hurt and killed. Always remember that when you " Stand up, buckle up and shuffle to the door "
Fun fact singing this song on your first jump calms you down but scares the piss out of everyone else
🤣🤣🤣
Yes it does. Works when skydiving too.
Oh shit... 😅
Me about to jump while singing this out loud so everyone can hear me clearly.
Imagine hearing your 4yr old granddaughter in the morning singing this, marching to the bathroom to brush her teeth.
Her dad used this song for his wakeup alarm...
You are my favorite singe Jonathan ❤
Out of my 123 static line jumps, I’ve had 2 really bad jumps, 4 tree landings, a few road landings, multiple jumps during red lights, only because I didn’t want to not jump and waste all that time for nothing.
As horrible as some of my jumps were I truly miss it every day
Old one, but always a good one. You're doing great.
I think you mean "classic" ❤😊
All American til they put me in the ground ... been a few years since I heard this cadence... brings back memories
Sing this on the plane before every skydive I do, completely strips the anxiety
Being a civilian who never has been in the military myself I can still sing cadence at work and keep myself motivated and thst is what cadence was designed for to keep people motivated
It’s more to keep us in step but definitely helps with morale
To be honest, military songs like this help me get through work days
Love the strength and tonality you put into every cadence that evokes the strongest of emotions of and for our service men and women...
Thank you! ❤🤍💙
I love listening to you Candace at work as I come from a military family and my co worker have no clue what I am listening to and it helps me keep up with my work. Your amazing at singing.
To All My Airborne Brother's An Sister's .Sliver Wings.
Right before we got loaded onto our first jump they played this over the PA and the Jump master said "Dont worry, youll reach the group, I cant promise youll land in 1 piece or alive but youll find the ground for sure." and then we got loaded onto the plane. God I hated that jump but I now sing this before most jumps.
Thank you for your service : your bravery .
I love the way your singing the cadence's they resonate with me
Don't forget the t-shirts and hoodies are also for sale! jonathanmichaelfleming.com
As an old Paratrooper a lot of us changed the words a bit - from Gory to Glory very easy to do, and most times very appropriate. Only way better for a Airborne Trooper to go out is being in the middle of a big pile of brass and sounded by the enemy as they blead out !
Love your version of this! Love it!!!
I am hoping you will do ANOTHER version of this, including some of the verses that are in other versions? Obviously there are a number of versions...I think this cadence is so good, you should do it twice!
Wow! This is really the best version I’ve ever heard. Very similar to the one in Band of Brothers.
I KNOW A VET WHO JUMPED 27 TIMES, #15 DIDN'T OPEN, TO THIS DAY, HE'S STILL WITH US
Because his reserve opened.
@@Mr_Zimmwhat if it didn’t? It is a possibility that his reserve didn’t open either
@@trevormartinez6992 If it didn't, the rest 12 jumps will be hard to explain.
@@patthapon13807lucky landing on jump 15
What happened when it didn't open? Pls make a video about his story
Thanks for service may the Lord carry you an rest you upon softly upon the ground .
God pless America🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸🦅
Bro, i have suddenly become obsessed with this song. Brilliant
Yeah I keep finding my self coming back to this song
My Great Uncle was in the 173rd Airborne in the Vietnam War. I wish he was here to listen to you
Good morning Vietnam!!
Brother this brings back old memories!
My new favorite song
Thanks for listening!
I still have faith in American! Thank you Brother.
JJ loves your voice and cadence keep kicking ass
Proud to be an American even when the world hates us!!!
My buddy joined the Airborne out of highschool, 2010. His last jump of his career, upon landing his foot went into a hole of some sort which threw him off, leg stopped but body kept going. He has a cane now at 30 years old. He still misses it though. As for me... i was a Seabee, i like to stay on the ground and not jump out of a perfectly good aircraft.
The Air Force Taxi????? The Old sayin was if the Bird was not leaking Hydraulics do not get into it lol.
@Hesseonavy They paid us $55.00 extra for being on jump status! 🙂🪂
I love your songs
Thank you ❤❤
this cadence even gets my dog hyped up lmao
Though its a nice song, it shows the truma both physical and mentally.yet the fact they still did these jumps must have taken a core of steel
I'll always think of him when I hear this one ❤
Air-fuckin-borne! 🪂
My great uncle was 82nd, and I plan to be 82nd too. Doesn’t matter what division, this is a banger.
I was on my first jump after singing this song and I would not jump off the plane and did my time
My late father spent most of 1970 in Vietnam as what the Army now calls 18E. He mostly stepped out of helicopters doing 30mph six feet above the ground when Over There, all his time under silk was at Benning (now Moore*) and Bragg (now Liberty*). But he still sang this song under his breath 50 ears later when he didn't think anybody was around.
* -- FINALLY we got around to renaming the bases named after traitors
This is for the SCREAMING 🦅 EAGLE THE 101 airborne
My great uncle Harvey Henle jumped into the shit in WW2, fought like hell, and stopped for a smoke break, and was then shot dead. More of a man at 22 than most of American males today. Rest in peace Uncle.
My grandpa used to sing this all the time. It's probably how I got my morbid curiosity
I’m a retired Army Infantryman and we need good men in the Infantry and could use you. Contrary to public perception the Infantry isn’t populated by retards, before I retired in 2009 the average IQ in my Battalion was 119. Intelligent men can’t handle a mundane job doing the same task day after day, it’s like prison to us. We prefer a fluid and constantly changing environment that challenges us individually and as a group. In my 26 years I saw a lot of the world and met some great people who are my lifelong friends and I miss them dearly. I still keep in touch with a few of the men I served with and make sure they know that I’m here if they need help or to just laugh with. It’s odd how we remember the hilarious stuff we did since Infantry humor is legendary and I have no clue how they dream things up, lol. I know I sound like a Recruiter but I enjoy talking with good men who I’d share a foxhole with and the fact you watched this video speaks a lot about you as a man. My job was MOS 11H which is Heavy Anti-Armor Weapons Infantryman where I used the TOW system to kill tanks, I liked it since we didn’t have to walk so much. Years later they dropped my MOS of 11H and I was assigned as 11B Infantryman and fought in two wars as such. We don’t work on weekends and each month we have at least one 4 day weekend and our paycheck is always the same so it’s not like we work on an hourly basis. We work from 0900-1630 daily and come in for PT at 0630-0730 4 times a week. Well, that’s my pitch, hope we can see you in our ranks one day or, you can relay this info to someone you know that you think would be a good Soldier, we have around 150 other jobs to choose from, my daughter served as a 68C which is a Practical Nurse and after getting out, she started working 2 weeks later making $29 an hour doing the same job she did in the Army and now she’s attending college part time to get her Nursing degree which costs her nothing. I wish you well young man, do great things in life.
SFC DeVos.
This is by far my favorite cadence
Thanks for the memories!
U r one of a kind.da shit dawg u rawesome...don't stop.
.
Love every 1 these songs
I wanna learn this
Charles Capps and Michael Rohr, July 1976...RIP
We still marched to this in the early 1990s. Hoor rah!
Siiiick
I'm a civilian but I must say this song hits me right in the soul... I'm one in the few refused to service but my entire family fought in every war this country ever sought... still to this day I wish I was given enlistment but now I'm too old now
Jonathan I just want to say I love everything you do
in jump school, and MFF we used to sing this marching to the strip before jumps.... what a mood setter ;P it might sound weird to some, but this still kinda catches in my chest when I hear it. My military career ended with a bad landing from a H.A.L.O. 366 good jumps, 1 bad one... decent odds.
Song plays EVERY morning during PT at Ft. Leonardwood. Became my favorite cadence.
Really?
Didn’t happen for me when I was there 😞
Happened for me as well (09-18). Arguably not my favorite, but always a fun cadence to march to. Best part was some dumbass conversation one of my guys had with our DS:
Joe who got Airborne: What're you supposed to do if your reserve chute fails?
DS with tabs a mile long: You have the rest of your life to figure that out, and when you hit the ground it's no longer your problem.
I was there in 1999. @ToonScapeTV
Goddamn you are amazing
Being a paratrooper, it’s easy for me to visualize this.
Thank you Sir ... 👊💪🙏
My great granddad caught in ww2 my dad followed I have joined to serve my country and so will my son's
Listening with my eyes closed and was right back at good old Ft. Benning during jump week. Airborne, All the way!!!!
Heard this every morning before 0600 formation in jump school. Nuff Said
As the grandson of a now passed US paratrooper and a soon too be navy officer I salute you good sir 🫡
This was already epic...then you came along with this rendition.
82nd all the way!!!!!
Got em drill hell yeah
Will never forget singing this on my first jump. CO’s fucking loved all of us singing while simultaneously looking like we were gonna piss our pants
This stuff is brilliant :)
I hate running, but yer song helps me :)
Stay safe.
I can only imagine a whole bunch of paratroopers jumping out and then start singing this song on the way down
Can imagine a group of vets singing this after consuming many brown lemonades(beers).

December 1985 I showed up for Airborne School. HQ company where we signed into had this blasting outside. All I could think of was "What the hell did I get myself into." Made JM and Senior Parachutist but then BRAC gutted the Army. Never got my Master Blaster.
Love your version
Brings back memories of fort bragg
Did my first jump at Bragg middle of the day and it was dark all the way down. Lol
This is my favorite one so far
airborneeee!!!
Don't be late for close out formation, or that's a ftr. 💀
Vince Speranza knew what he was doing, whether he was drunk or not. Good cover, and still one of the most iconic cadences to ever exist.
RIP Vince "Nuts!" Speranza
The best classic army cadence for sure.
You can tell back then our warriors didn’t care about political correctness.
Now we have to protect Emma’s feelings cuz she has two moms.
C’mon man.
Well done, Son.
Airborne All The Way!!
Airborne! I sing this to calm myself, when I'm bored or about to do a jump.
this was in in my yt generaded mix:"kis music"
Thank you for this, this reminds me of my grandfather #VietnamVets
Also the original person that wrote blood upon the risers is a soldier from the 131st airborne division
John 3:16
Wishing for 15+ minute versions.
Queue up the playlists on my account!
Love the virsion of the song😂
R.I.P. PFC Vince Speranza
RIP VINCE
We sang this cadence many times.
My father was a medic in the 221 Airborne Medical Company, 11 Airborne Division in WW2. Maybe because the song hit to close to reality he didn't like the song. One war story he told was about a friend who bounced 30 feet back into the air and rolled almost 200 yards. Putting him on the stretcher he was still alive with near every bone in his body broken and sticking out. A PTSD situation. His only advice he gave me going to Vietnam was don't make close friends it hurts when they die.
I when i do something that terrifys me i sing this song or my mother told me
It calms me down and make me feel like i can achieve anything
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
