This video is giving me flashbacks to rolling out of bed on Saturday morning, sneaking through the house (everyone was sleep) and turning on my Saturday morning cartoons.
Zakiyyah Shaw I know. They just gave up. I know that the best they could do in 1991-92 was "Wish Kid" and "Space Cats" but why after the Battletoads pilot did they just throw in the towel. NBC was MOCKED and made fun of by light night TV and editorials for being "quitters".
+Zakiyyah Shaw Well, the cartoons returned in 2002 for Discovery Kids, but later dropped in 2012 with Qubo, but NBC Kids has loads of Sprout shows now. Plus, weird since NBC is the only Saturday morning person to use the block since Fox, CBS, WB and ABC is no longer using cartoons and are using just live action shows, like hand drawn is dropped and replaced by computers.
When I was a little kid watching NBC Saturday Morning cartoons my favorite was "Captain N The game Master", " Pro Stars," "Saved by the Bell" and "NBA Inside Stuff" 1990-1992. 🏀🏒🏈⚾
Of CBS, ABC, and NBC, I have the poorest memory of these bumpers. I really didn't remember any of them before the 1989 set, despite remembering the space bumpers CBS was using no later than 1986. The bumpers with the green boy in 1990 were pretty cool, still.
The demise of Saturday mornings on the Peacock could be considered a perfect storm of: 1) NBC relying too long on four cartoons (The Smurfs, The Snorks, Alvin and the Chipmunks and until it moved to ABC in 1989; the Gummi Bears) as their heavy hitters 2) The replacement newcomers being extremely weak (Yo! Yogi and ProStars, especially) 3) NBC News wanting to expand the Today show to Saturdays (the one day they did not air on; Today had only expanded to Sundays about 1987 4) Finally, the success of Saved By the Bell leading to NBC executives doing what most network execs do when a show is a huge hit: order as many clones as possible. Leading to the debut of TNBC on September 12, 1992.
Is it just me or do the Saturday Morning Feaver done by the same animators who did Schoolhouse Rock? Also, Casey Kasem must have had a strong relationship with NBC if he kept being the announcer through the 80s.

As a child who watched Saturday Morning Cartoons in the late 80's and 90's, NBC got two thumbs up!
1992 was a DARK year for Saturday Morning TV when NBC left the Saturday morning business.
Tornado1994 Yeah it was!

I watch Saturday Morning Cartoons as a kid a lot. Fuck those FCC people who killed Saturday Morning Cartoons
Goodbye NBC Saturday Morning 1947-1992 and Rest in Peace Casey Kasem 1932-2014. Thanks for doing the VOs.
By 1990, it was like the network stopped trying
It's been so long since NBC did Saturday morning cartoons that I barely even remember the bumpers running 10 to 15 seconds long.
Today I learned that Smurfs will return after these messages.
tarwagon LoL
I did too. Also learned that we now return to the Smurfs.
And so are the Flintstones funnies
2:20 "The Smurfs need drug money. Support the ads or Papa Smurf GETS IT!"
Rest in peace, Casey Kasem 1932-2014
Ryan Kadlec
NBC's announcer from 1979 to 1986.
Ryan Kadlec He was one the greatest voice actors of all time! Farewell, brave Shaggy!
I am so sorry of Casey kasem she or he is dead and I hope I'll pray of it but don't worry I'm sure that I feeling sorry and it is not my fault right
@@codysearchfield9687 Casey Kasem was a he (or a man).

1990-91 season NBC is the place to Be songs ever. 🎶🎶
NBC the theme song "Is the place to Be" 1990-91 Season.
The original NBA Inside Stuff was awesome.
The Smurfs will return after these messages.
Jax Hahn We now return to the Smurfs
Early 70s to early 80s was my time. I miss this so much
Now I've learned that NBC was addicted to the Smurfs.
It was the MAIN reason why they didn’t quit on Saturday mornings.
Hey, milk the cow until it runs dry. Not mad at them at all.
Of CBS, ABC, and NBC, I have the poorest memory of these bumpers. I really didn't remember any of them before the 1989 set, despite remembering the space bumpers CBS was using no later than 1986. The bumpers with the green boy in 1990 were pretty cool, still.
Yeah! I really loved the bumpers with the green boy!
The Smurfs" was with NBC, in the 1980s and at the start of the 1990s.
How was it at the start of the 90s when the show ended in Dec 1989?
@@gerawallstar3487 reruns wink wink
I like how they try to hide whats going on behind the scenes like you're not sposed to see what they're doing
And by 'this fall', we mean the "new American TV year starts, plus we're three weeks into the NFL season."

This is great insight
I was usually stuck on ABC on Saturday Morning, HOWEVER; I do like those bumpers from NBC too
I remember "Friends" was on NBC.
One of NBC’s greatest shows.
Smurfs were popular on NBC.

Actaully that same guy who made The PJs.
Was it Will Vinton +Eli Animation
+Anthony “Tony” Gonzalez Yes. Plus, I've seen a ElectricDragon505 video about him.
There are more chip and pepper bumpers on the "Prostars" and "Wishkid starring Macaully Culkin" breaks.

I know the late Casey Kasem, was doing the announcing for NBC.
That first Saturday Morning Fever bump is WAY too saturated. (I hope I'm using the right term)
I think the term is oversaturated. You were close, though.
Smurfs was cancelled in late '87 and never seen in early '88
If you had to choose from ABC Saturday mornings, CBS Saturday mornings, and NBC Saturday mornings, What would it be?
I think "The Smurfs" was with NBC, in the 1980s.
I’ll bet there were no bumpers in 1968 when The Banana Splits Adventure Hour aired on NBC Saturday morning.
There goes the feathers.
the CBS expansion is up!!!!

Can you find and upload the 2 CB Bears Episodes: The Doomsday Mine, and Follow That Mountain.
Please, let me know if you have them.
At about 1:15-ish the cartoons take on the look of Schoolhouse Rock. I thought that was the domain of ABC back then?
As Jason Delarosa, I have decided NBC for a block of Nick Jr. shows on Saturday morning.
I wonder why Saved By The Bell wasn't included
