I like that they're trying to be interesting as opposed to clever. As in, instead of trying to subvert expectations by telling the same stories but worse (with different characterization) the goal was to use these iconic characters and put them in different situations. After all if these characters stand the test of time then they don't need much tweaking, it's the worldbuilding that does.
I think the proof of this is having Martian Manhunter being apart of Superman's origin to explore how different situations can cause people to see things differently like MM isn't kean on humanity while Clark being raised by them understands them better.
Or in Long Halloween the omitted things that didn't make sense or give more depth to characters like Harvey by showing him in part 1 having schizophrenic symptoms and they also did the twist end a lot better than the book.

Fun fact about the Superman twist: The prisoner who gives Superman his shirt is heavily implied to be Kamandi, the Last Boy on Earth. The animated short that was paired with this movie is also Kamandi. Although it had a different art style, it ended with him being given the savior's (Superman) shirt so he could find him and give it to him, in order to prevent the apocalyptic future that's the setting for the short.
Why did someone want to avenge ideas from Kamandi At Earth's End? I mean, hey if it works it works, but who thinks of that?
@@PosthumanHeresy I don't think they were inspired by that specific comic at all. The short just seemed like a homage to the classic version of the character and the Superman aspect is handled very differently from At Earth's End.

Honestly I'm loving the Tomorrowverse. Hopefully DC doesn't just throw it out like it's other ideas.

It’s reminiscent of the animated movies DC used to put out; a quality that ended abruptly after the great Flashpoint. I’m glad to get back to that quality, though the Green Lantern: Beware My Power movie felt like it threw us right back into the DCAMU which was incredibly disappointing. Haven’t checked out the newest one with Supergirl and the Legionnaires, but I hope it’s a smidge more impressive than the GL movie.
Edit: I have now watched the Legion of Superheroes movie and it was a solid entry in the Tomorrowverse! It’s basically an extended version of my favorite Supergirl episode from Justice League Unlimited. Still so bummed about the GL:BMP movie. I was so excited for it to be good.

I don’t think the accent has anything to do with how articulate he is. The ideas are expressed clearly and effectively, therefore articulately. If anything that’s more a sign that a script was used.

One thing that i do love about DC’s Tomorrowverse however it’s the animation style. It feels like 80’s and 90’s comics. It’s so beautiful.

There's been more than one Black Canary and they kinda look rather the same. And Hawkman's shtick is reincarnation.

I think Matt Ryan does the voice for the animated Constantine and plays the live action show Constantine.

I think the whole "it was another universe all along" reveal is probably meant to be a way for them to not have another Flashpoint, since Barry going back in time and causing a war where Aquaman and Wonder Woman are on opposite sides was the plot of the Flashpoint movie. By revealing Barry didn't actually go back in time they don't have to deal with the potential "why didn't this cause another Flashpoint" plot hole.
Went in blind, and I loved it. Shakespeare plot flew over my head, never thought it’d be Clark. Awesome twist. Rollercoaster of emotions. Garrick, Canary, and Hawkman stood out the most to me. ⭐️
honestly out of all the animated movies from the tomorrowverse this one Justice society world war 2 and superman of tomorrow were probably my favorites at least in my opinion.

The Tomorrow verse really captures the small moments of these heroes and villains as people who have wants and desires. I think if the new DCU wants to succeed, they need to emulate that. I appreciate your perspective because it has opened my eyes on things I missed. Even though the Legion of Superheroes isn't my favorite but they did make even more of a fan of Kara as a character and her potential when she debuts on screen. Can't wait for your analysis on that movie.

Obeying your compulsions is rarely a good thing, but once in a while it's the *right* thing.
I think learning he wasn't in the past was just a way for them to have events happen that otherwise would complicate things too much (if Germany bombed Newyork in Earth 1 then that's a buttload of continuity to rewrite.) They just wanted to write a story about mortality in a relatively grounded setting for it.
While I've enjoyed the Tomorrowverse, I think it's falling victim to some of the same problems as the previous movies, they don't have enough budget and they're too short. Every time I watch one of the movies, it feels like there's like 15 or 20 minutes missing.
From what I've read about the animated movies, their budget hasn't really changed since they started regularly making them 15 years ago. I really hope WB or James Gunn or whoever is going to be in charge of these movies will give them a larger budget for longer runtimes and maybe a bit more time to go over the script and work out the kinks.
Wish there was a spoiler warning. This brought me to tears and I wished I had seen it organically. Now I guess I'm watching all these movies

so far the ONLY complain i have about this new universe is how it portrayed Hal Jordan as a WILLING servant of Parallax and basically throwing away 90% of the green lantern corps... but on the movie where John appears later on i doubt it will even be mentioned so ultimately it's just their way to explain why only Jhon is there.
The Legion of superheroes is not that great but it is a fun time and Supergirl is rather likable.
I did love American Alien/man of tomorrow and Long Halloween so i'll be expecting great things for this movies if they keep their comic-book tone.

When I saw the trailers for JS WWII, I had thought, and a hope, this film could lead into a movie for the Blue Beetle because the original Blue Beetle became active in the 1950s, which means he became active just a few short years after the second world war. Did it happen? No, Do I still want to see it happen? Yes. Blue Beetle is a legacy character, one of DC's few official Legacy characters; I would love to see a series of interconnected Blue Beetle Films that lead into each other, each Blue Beetle having their own independent trilogy of films with the final movie of each trilogy effectively setting up for the following trilogy, with the added bonus each having an art style reminiscent of the comic book style of the era in which they are set, this would give each film a unique sort of cohesion while simultaneously providing visual cues to the audience which Blue Beetle and the era they are following for the movie.
That hasn't happened yet, but it's still something I would very much like to see. Any thoughts on this idea and approach.
Plot twist. The flash didn’t want to pay for a ring, he’d rather travel to another universe and fight in a war instead of buying a ring.
I think this is what superhero movies always should of been, smtg new. Same characters, but different stories. Not everything has to follow the comics, but the characters should have the same characteristics so they don’t lose their charm and charisma.
You know the main problem with movie was the lack of threatening villains. If you really think about it just Wonder Woman and flash alone can solo the entire nazis and aquaman. I never saw them in any real danger. DC dropped the ball in not bringing back a key villain for this time line “Captain Nazi”. They already had nazi imagery so bringing a villain in that best suits the enemy makes so much sense. They could have buffed him to make the justice society truly struggle and have a real sense of danger. Instead of using a brain washed Aquaman which was weird to me. Plus they could have had a better plot for the hero’s to want to stop the nazis in mass producing super soldiers which would have been a better climax ending than what we got. Missed opportunity for not bringing back an OG villain of Shazam (captain marvel).
But you're missing the fact that they have to be covert about it because they are a top secret group full of metahumans.
Yes Wonder Woman can solo the Nazis but in order to do so she'd have to be so open about it and recklessly be rampaging through the Nazis everywhere in Public.

I was really jazzed for a WW2 JSA movie when this was first announced. One of the better recent-ish DCAU movies, but I feel like it could have been stronger if they hadn't shoehorned in another "Flash travels through time/multiverse" plot.

Tomorrowverse was perfect until Green Lantern BMP, the movie itself was great but it was too soon, they should've made a Green Lantern Hal Jordan movie as a Part 1, like Long Halloween.

I love the designs of the Tomorrow-verse, while the old Animated stuff was well written for the most part and great in it's own right, they definately didn't draw faces good at all. Like Superman and unmasked Batman are literally the same guy

I pretty much enjoy the tomorrowverse which was started by Superman man of tomorrow. I definitely enjoyed justice society World War 2 as a world War 2 story and a DC elseworld story.
I really liked this one and the Legion Of Super-Heroes movie (minor spoilers for it) but I wish that they were more team focused then being more focused on the draw hero (Flash and Supergirl) this film was better at it but could have been a little better.
I have a question for anyone what would the Superman from Justice League new frontier think of his Red Sun counterpart ?
Idk why but I’m getting a rebirth feel from this universe, that and a crisis build up, we got the classic golden age heroes, jay, supes, Wonder Woman etc,
Not to mention Constantine and his story with the specter. I really want them to adapt the crisis on infinite earths storyline really bad.
The newest movie legion of super heroes was also great. The themes they are tackling are very interesting. I wish they would make another movie of jlu verse. The recent last was amazing.

Let’s take a moment for the old thumbnail and title.
"Barry never takes his knowledge of history to change the course of World War 2 in this world." Fair on the surface -- but this isn't the same Earth. On his world, the JSA didn't exist in World War 2 as far as he knows (and definitely Superman wasn't around then). So, either the actual history of World War 2 is different in both worlds (if there was a JSA on his Earth, too, he and everyone else remember WW2 differently than it actually happened) or the existence of the JSA alters events in WW2 in this world. Either way, Barry's knowledge of the history of WW2, even assuming it's detailed enough to be useful for strategic purposes, isn't going to be accurate to the events of WW2 as they play out in the version he's visiting.

Out of all the interpretations of Wonderwoman since JLU this rendition is the first version I ACTUALLY like as a character. The ones before all felt like one dimensonal cut outs of vague similarities to who WonderWoman is. Either bland or in a few cases outright unlikeable.
Keep in mind I only mean from the Animated side.

I feel rather weird about this one because.. well, I'm not all that attached to the time period, I guess? But this one was just okay to me. I didn't find myself latching onto the characters or the plot, and even the action was just kinda there for me. I honestly barely remembered it after I watched it and mostly put it out of my mind since.

This movie was an honest to god stand out. I wasn't expecting it to be so good. All of the new animated movies have been good... Except the Green Lantern movie. I didn't quite enjoy it. They really should have made it a two part or three part movie but they decided to cram so much into one.
